I got tired of the cockroaches, the smell of bug spray and the sewer gas wafting up through the shower drain. I quite liked the staff and the food so stayed longer than I might have otherwise. YOU might have something to share with us so why not write up your recommendations instead of complaining about our posts?

I would not stay in places with the shit you mentioned, not even if free. I have good info for Pattaya, Phuket, Khon Kaen and few other places, but that doesn't apply here.
If you want a 1000 baht hotel on Sukhumvit, few BTS stops east from Nana and Asok is Imm Fusion. I stayed there back in 2011 and found it clean and charming enough (certainly no smell or cockroaches). It is not posh, but the reception hall is impressive. It is really convenient for that last night stay, since it sits right next to a high-way exit and you can get to the airport in 20 minutes. It is just a 1-minute walk away from BTS On Nut station and a Tesco supermarket. Breakfast was decent enough, nothing special. I don't know about their joiner-policy, though.
My arrival stay in BKK is booked at Dawin this time, but since I have an early flight out in March, I might book Imm Fusion again, maybe just to test their monger-friendliness.

To say that none of the last 100 posts are useful in that regards is ignorant. Maybe you should just say that you are looking for information on cheap places instead of practical instead of coming on here making such idiotic statements as such. Thailand is a lot more expensive than it used to be with regards to currency exchange and changes in the economics. The thread is on "Bangkok Hotels", not "Budget Hotels for the Truly Budget Minded Where Every Baht Counts". Some people can't stay in such places because certain elements will forbid the person from quality sleep or other where for others it doesn't matter.

Try Grand Millenium on Soi 21. Excellent hotel. Very girl friendly. 1 minute walk from Soi Cowboy, perfect for late flight arrivals. Price per night should be around 3000-4000 baht. Here's my report from my first stay, have been there a couple of times since:

Another favorite of mine is Aloft on Soi 11. Mid-way between Nana and Soi Cowboy (walking distance to both). Equally girl friendly, nice and modern. Price per night should be around 2000 baht.

And as you say it does not apply to Bangkok. For awhile my go to hotel was Le Fenix on Soi 11. I could book it on wotif. Com for 1200 to 1400. The walk in rate was closer to 2000. I do not go there much now because it is showing the wear of the masses. Now I spend either side of 2000 to be comfortable in BKK.

I can recommend the Peninsula Hotel in Bangkok to be very girl-friendly. The girls are usually escorted up to the rooms, but this is done very discreetly: when the concierge call you to verify, they don't mention your name (in case someone downstairs is listening). Plus it is an excellent hotel. The rooms aperfect playgrounds for a lot of adult fun. Through certain contacts, you can even book orgies and sex parties (models only) at the hotel.
Also there is a beauty salon in the basement which also offers in-room massages (3000 Baht) , and for a small tip they offer happy end (which I find quite expensive, it is however convenient).
Can highly recommend it.

All good except she lost her I'd card and the hotel doesn't let her in. She says she can't get a replacement I'd until she goes back home. She spends the night at a friends house and I had to drop big baht at the Nana for a replacement. Any suggestions on an inexpensive hotel in the Nana area that doesn't I'd?

Dynasty Inn is decent. Stay two nights and the bus to Pattaya is free.
