Yes, they have the largest population of muslims in the world. But as they say in my country (the Netherlands, which shares some history with Indonesia.), the Indonesians are the Catholics among the muslims I. E. They have a very very pragmatic view of religion. Extremism is frowned upon by the vast majority of Indonesians. Whatever makes you think there is a lot of anti western BS in Indonesia? Again, this shows that you nothing of the country. I have been coming to Indonesia fot 20 years, have a lot of Indonesian friends (some for sex, others as friends) and have never felt unsafe or even uneasy.

There is an old Chinese saying: "Before opening mouth, engage brain".

If you parked yourself in the Mulia you would have access to CJ's. Expensive by Jakarta standards but cheap compared to what you have been spending in HK. Could venture out to BATS as well. Once you have a bit more confidence there are lots of other spots such as Block M etc. Take a look at the Jakarta forum. The Cj's/BATS route is probably easier than HK with better quality. Moving further afield is harder work than HK, a bit less secure but a lot of fun

Not much risk involved in going to Blok M, or rather Jalan Felatehan, so why are you talking about gaining "more confidence"? Blok M is awash with westerners on the prowl and with freelance girls looking for westerners. I recommend Blok M.

I was there pre 911, pre Bali bombing. I was last in Bali in 2009. I agree the vast majority of people are not crazy radicals, but Islamic extremism is a fast growing cancer in this part of the world. And it finds fertile soil to grow in Indonesia.

When I was there even pre 911, you could not miss the contrast in outlooks and attitudes between the Javanese and the Balinese people. It was palpable. Now if you like to visit Jakarta or KL be my guest. I am sure you know a lot of nice people. Some of the girls are very attractive as well. But my advice still stands; there are a lot of nicer SE Asian countries to spend your money and have a good time.

Another example of a country I do not recommend is Mexico. I have travelled from Mazatlan to the Guatemala border so I know what I am talking about. Mexico has great beaches, some hot women and some friendly people. But the overall vibe like Indonesia is not good. Why go to Mexico when you can have a great time in a gringo friendly country like Costa Rica? And I ask why go to Indonesia or Malaysia when you can go to farang friendly countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Laos, Bali or even Burma? But if Indonesia is your cup of tea then enjoy it. I don't dig the vibe.

My company has finally loosened the purse strings and international travel is finally possible again. I will be in Hong Kong the week of the 11th. While I normally stay at the Shangri La, they were sold out and I will staying at the new Hyatt Regency in Kowloon. I usually like to go find something over in Wanchai and bring it back. I know most HK hotels are ok with that, but I am curious if any fellow mongerers have stayed at this new Hyatt yet and could comment on how it is, both as a hotel and bringing someone back. Does the fact that the hotel is actually up a bunch of floors create any additional issues when you bring someone up? I imagine it could be a long elevator ride depending on who else gets on with you.

well, i hit wanchai near 11 and stopped first at escape. dead. mainly indian guys and almost no women.

so i went to laguna and it was heaving. good choice.

got groped by a few women just walking through that place!

i speak to my pixieish indonesian girl again -- every time i see her i feel like a creep for not calling her for a third visit. but she is too perfect i don't want to fall hard for her in my last 5 days.

Sorry to disagree and disagree strongly with your statement that Holland "shares" the same history as Indonesia and making it all sound so pally and warm and fuzzy.

The Netherlands INVADED and COLONIZED Indonesia, and even though the Dutch did do a lot of good things, you as a country and as a people did colonize AND DID exploit Indonesia.

Not bored. I like Hong Kong culture in general beyond the scene at night.

I've not been to many other places in Asia but it seems like Hong Kong is a nice way to ease into the rest of Asia.

The locals are not entirely friendly but the girls make up for it.

I just feel a bit tired and old. Not so much bored but just weary of the fake stuff. The Vietnamese are hot but they are so fake that their technique just comes across as laughable.

I've just got to admit that I'm one of those guys who prefers the one-on-one with a hot Indonesian or Filipino. At least it usually is a GFE and that helps me relax.

I just don't think I'd enjoy the Macau scene very much. And my desire to go to K Pressure or 37 Dundas has more to do with scientific curiosity than an actual desire to go there.

It's okay; I'm just realizing that I'm a different person than I thought I was. Hey, the first Thai girl I had was a life-changing sexual adventure for 2 days so I already feel fulfilled.

But seriously Fast Eddie, I don’t think the discussion has gotten to fight club status. Just a gentlemanly disagreement and a free exchange of opinion. The connection and why the discussion began in the HKG thread is due to the presence of hot Indonesian girls (and Filipinas) in the Wanchai bars. These girls ask for a lot of money and one member of the forum suggested that if you really wanted to taste the fruit of Indonesia it would be a good idea to head there. I and a few others disagreed. We don’t recommend Indonesia for travel. That’s all.

This is related to the issue of whether HKG is a primary or secondary market for hot girls. Sure you have the 141 girls of which a vast majority are Chinese (mainland) and the saunas like D37, but when you hit the bar scene you find it is mostly made up of foreigners charging prices many many times the price they could get away with in their homelands. For guys living and working in HKG this is fine and very convenient. But for travelers able to vacation anywhere, it is a legitimate question: should I go Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, or mainland China rather than monger in HKG?

I will be in Hong Kong in 4 weeks. It is a fabulous city and not to be missed for a variety of reasons. And while there you better believe I am going to visit the saunas, the 141 gals, and the bars of Kowloon and Wanchai. I will spend a week in Kowloon, and then head off to BKK and Pattaya for 3 weeks to total debauchery. Thus, while I am in HGK I seriously doubt if I will be interested in any Thai girls in Wanchai (but you never can tell). From BKK I will return to HKG via a stopover of 5 days in Macau. In Macau I will devote myself to the Chinese sauna girls and I expect to spend a lot of money. I don’t care. They are really worth it. Finally I return to Wanchai for my last 6 days before heading back to sexual prison in the good old USA. And while I am in Wanchai, (as when in Rome) I will turn my attention to 141 Chinese girls and the Filipina & Indonesian bar girls.

So no fight. It’s all good.
