A few queries on Bangkok Layover
Hi Friends,
Max here from the India (Bangalore) forum. I have a friend (Indian citizen) who's travelling from Beijing to Bangalore with a layover at BKK airport for 10 hours. I answered his queries based on my experience in BKK. Please let me know if I got all the facts right. Thanks in advance!
1: Do I need to have a visa-on-arrival to get out of Suvarnabhumi airport for 10 hours? Is that easy?
- Yes. You will either have to pay the airport tax (around 800 Baht) or the get the visa if you're leaving the airport. You will have to check this at the airport. It is easy, but might take about 20 minutes to an hour if there's a queue for visa. To make the process easier, carry some passport size photos of different sizes.
2. Is there ANY chance at all that I get some massage + extras inside the Airport massage places? (This question is because of the concern over going out alone in an unknown place.)
- Nope. Very unlikely to get extras. There are a few massage parlors but getting happy ending there is unlikely.
3. Is it safe for an Indian in the soapy massage places in Sukhumvit and Nana? Is it Safe to take my carry on laptop bag to these places?
- Yes, BKK is a safe place. You can take your carry-on luggage to almost all of these MPs. Just be careful you don't misplace them. Don't worry about getting overpowered / manhandled and looted, it's highly unlikely.
4. Are there any language issues at these soapy massage parlors?
- Don't expect the girls to know English. The mamasan (one who runs the show) would know a little bit of English and you should be able to get what you want.
- If possible extend your stay for a day or more, BKK deserves more attention.
Cheers guys, please let me know!
