The bottom line is "there is no best place". Read the previous posts as they all have their advantages and disadvantages.

I have stayed in many a hotel, apartment etc. In most continents. Here in Budapest I know many of the concierge and in some cases the director of the hotel as well. If they have special events (I don't meant the F1 at the Buddha bar) they will stay late so you may not have a chance to avoid them. A chance encounter with them may be embarrassing for you.

Just a quick anecdote: I stayed in one of the more popular hotels in Budapest a few weeks ago and was meeting a lady in the lobby later in the evening. As you can imagine, some of the girls don't exactly show up in running shoes and jeans. As we took an elevator, since you need a room key to access the floor, amongst others a family of 4 entered with us. The 12 year old boy needed his eyes put back in the socket, the somewhat older daughter looked down as if not know where to look, the father had a huge grin on his face (you can guess what he was thinking) and the mother's look. I am planning to visit Budapest again in a few weeks, I was there last year in 2015 and it's a nice place to hunt but I was there for only 2 nights first time.
