BKK first timer planning to land up there end March. Am struggling a little to find a hotel bang on Soi Cowboy. Does anyone have a usable map (link) of Sukhumvit area with the sois and hotels detailed. I have stayed, Majestic, Majestic Grande and Livingstone's over the years and can provide inputs.

More specifically why the hell do you want to stay on Soi Cowboy. Walk your bar fine 200 yards and you probably hit a dozen hotels; tuk tuk her 20 baht worth and you are a mile away.

All you will get ON Soi Cowboy is noise (and the desire to go out and find another girl when your first pick turns out to be a star fish!

If you go out the front door and turn left it's a quick walk south on Asok to the west end of Soi Cowboy. Just a few steps more and you can get on the skytrain and the subway. If you go out the back door and turn right it is a quick walk south on Soi 23 to the east end of Soi Cowboy.

The Grand Millennium is a four star hotel that's totally joiner friendly. When I stayed there I paid a little extra to have access to the club lounge (or whatever they call it). The breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful.

Help is really appreciated[/QUOTE]Pattaya is much smaller and less crowded than Bangkok's Sukhumvit area so finding a comparable on-line map with details is difficult to find. If you find one, it'll be hard to read since the area is so congested that details like Sois and hotel names will be in very small print or only major ones will be identified.

If you're new to Bangkok and need to know your away around, I highly recommend the Groovy Map of Bangkok.

You can buy it in Thailand for 250 baht or on-line at Amazon. I've got other maps of Bangkok, but none with the same details as the Groovy Map of Bangkok.

The Groovy Map of Pattaya is nice, but I wouldn't buy it. The one that you found on-line is sufficient to finding your way around.

Point taken about the easy transport (compared to Pattaya which can be little more challenging) in BKK. But I wanted to stay in a place which has some advantage. Maybe near the discs (for freelancers) , right next to a Nuru Massage place or something like a river front property with easy transport (within 2500bht). Any suggestions? There are far too many hotels arnd to confuse anyone. Anyone with a feedback on Citadines on Soi Cowboy?

That's still a great choice for a BKK first-timer:

- Extremely girl friendly hotel with very friendly staff.

- The hotel has its own sports bar with a dozen or so girls you can barfine.

- You can chill out by the pool with a beer during the day.

- Fits your budget exactly.

- Walking distance to all the oilies in Soi24.

- Walking distance to Emporium for shopping and dining.

- Plenty of massage parlors in Soi 33 also, just outside the hotel door.

- Walking distance to Skytrain, which brings you straight to Soi Cowboy (1 stop) or Nana (2 stops)

- Easy taxi access to Soi Cowboy and Nana (although I prefer Skytrain)

You can even walk to Soi Cowboy, I have done this many times myself. According to Google Maps it is exactly 1 kilometer, which is a 15 minutes leisurely stroll.

Only problem was thin walls. Four Arabs in room next to me with loud mouths. Get the right room and it is a great place. Check out the roof top bar.
