Hola Hasideas Tao. Its been a while since we met at Hooters in Poblado and had a few bears.
I've often thought about bringing Colombian leather works, crafts and woodworks back to California and try to peddle them off. Would anyone buy it?
Speaking of business, what items are easy to transport and sell with a good Return On Investment for a short visit to Colombia?
It would be great if I could offset my expenses. I'm not talking megabucks here I'm just saying it would be nice to cover the cost of my hotel or ehem, whatever.
(Once on a work trip to another destination, a guy said he'd give me $20 if I brought him back a box of hostess ring dings. I brought him the ring dings but refused the money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not tryign to say I'm a nice guy or anything because later I wished I accepted his measly 20 being that we were never able to create that "working bond" in spite of my ring ding generosity. Hehe)
Anyway, since I spend most of my time with females on these visits, I was thinking, stockings / lingerie. (One size fits all, lightweight kind of items but this barely seems worth it considerring how much effort I would have to make for 100 bucks even if I enlisted a "sales representative")
Perfume? (paisas know the difference of bootleg perfume and how do you explain 10 bottles in your luggage)
I noticed planters peanuts are like 5 times as expensive in Colombia but um. Thats not going to work at all.
I was considerring packing 4 or 5 mid to low end computer tablets (coby, google) since this seems to be the latest technology craze here in the states and give or take 50 bucks gain per piece would be acceptable to me or some small pocket digital cameras. But for all I know they already have the same brands available at Exito or Carafour.
(Maybe it goes with out saying but the challenge is being able to buy these items used or wholesale to maximise gains)
Come on guys, someone must have some good suggestions to share. Its not like I or anyone here is going to get into a turf war over this. OR maybe I should think the other way around. Bringing something from Colombia to the US?
Thanks
To cover the cost of my checked bag I bring one cartoon of cigs back to the US. I know it is not much, but you asked for sugestions.

Thanks
I am no expert but pretty much ANYTHING other than pussy is super expensive in Colombia (due to taxes I would imagine). I got my girlfriend a curling iron and blow dryer for her job and when they rang me up it was almost $100 USD! $20 at Target USA or Walmart!
As for 10x anything. They are for my girlfriend and her sister and aunts. End of that chat. Well that's what I"ve said and they just moved me on.
Its not like I or anyone here is going to get into a turf war over this. OR maybe I should think the other way around. Bringing something from Colombia to the US?
Ding! You got it! For every $800 that you spend in CO you could bring in $17000 in the states. But don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
I have a few buddies who run businesses in Colombia and form what they say some of the typical Colombia business practices are best described as rude and criminal ish!
Best advice to ALL guy with ALL types of girls in South America, Smile and be polite to the girls, do not come off as cheap, and you'll be all set.
This is good advice for any mongering destination but not all humans are alike. The interesting thing is a (really) high percentage of mongers put the squeeze on Lincoln, I / e there are a lot of cheap, tight wad, penny pinching (Lincoln) , mongers out there. I used to fight them but now I realized this is their nature and it is not changeable from the outside. We are meant to be different, one side enhances the other and it is all good, BUT, treat the ladies w / respect so the beauty of it all continues.
The troubles here in the Colombian Thread (hopefully over with) are unusual to me. I bounce between the Philippine and Colombian forums and the former forum is a positive place for the most part. All the main posters there ALWAYS post pics and give insight to the local terrain. Here in the Colombian thread lately it is 3 or 4 guys ganging up (to ridicule) one guy, or 3 or 4 guys back slapping one another for basically nothing. The main guys here are just (for lack of a better word) boring. I don't think thousands of post here or on any other forum (for that matter) makes anyone special, conversely it makes me think you have no life. I have known for a while that posting and being a part of ISG (or other sites) is an addiction of sorts, nothing to be proud of in my view. Some of us want to help others, or brag about what we did, or what we have, and how we can help you get it. Whatever. Pics and TR's is where it's at, period.
I hope and think (going forward) EVERYONE here should be posting pics (IN THE PG) and sharing good intel.
Lets stop the wasted energy. Apply your frustrations away from here, come full circle or shut up. Post pics and good information. If someone is too this or too that so be it, leave them alone. But if they degrade the game then lay into them. You don't like it here, then leave, say your piece and go, it's not hard (to leave) unless your a wimp.
One last thing. I am a defender of the working girls worldwide. Why? Because I want to fuck, suck and laugh w / all of them. I want to kick back someday and talk pussy and smoke a killer cigar w / my fellow pussy lovers. Is it too much of me to ask that the rest of you respect the pussy? Half (of us) already do but the macho ones, you know, gods gift to us all, think it's all about them. I'm not a follower I'm a leader types need to take a deep breath and relax. The macho guys alway use the,"he's a captain save a ho" or MHL would say a Kimbaya guy. Nobody here or on any other forum has the anti PC credentials I have, I blow most others away. I stand up for the working girls because they have a right to feel good about themselves. They are not able to access this site and defend themselves against the ignorant shit said about them here. And lastly because I was taught not to shit where I eat, NEVER! Before you criticize someone, step in their shoes, could you do it better? If not than shut TFU.
The criminal types that have come out from under the rocks (here) lately and are now gone is a real good thing. It seems Colombian Women bring out a different type of monger. Thank you Jackson, your garbage disposal is working nicely, keep it ready for the next disrespectful shitheads. In 10 days I'm in Medellin and I will fucking enjoy EVERY SQUARE INCH OF IT! All The Freaking Best God Damn It. Jeje.
Pics and TR to follow.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Like I said, it would be nice to cover some expenses. It's not like I drop tons of cash. So, with a little knowledge, planning and experience, it seems to me like I could deeply discount the trip and at least enhance the fun!
I really don't understand how I could spend $800 in Colombia and convert that into $17000 (I think you mean $1700) in the states. Enlighten me.
Can anyone easily reference the "transport of goods" regulations and limits for the benefit of this forum?
On the trip home:
I could definitely trade a carton of cigarettes within minutes of landing back in the states. Good one.
Leather goods and handmade stuff. Sounds tricky. Maybe if I knew someone with some kind of hand made ethnic or import specialty store. Which as a matter of fact, I just thought of a shop and maybe I can make a deal with them.
On the way down:
Curling iron idea and beauty appliances in general I think are also good ideas. I think a stop at Walmart may be in order.
Whenever I ask a girl what she wants, I usually hear "perfume, cream and electronics" I realize most perfumes are upwards of $50 a bottle and I know a great discount place with the real deal in NYC. Anyone know a web site in CO where I could research their prices?
It's been said they go crazy for Victoria Secret stuff but IMO, VS is way over price for the quality and seems like thats the kind of thing you gift or trade.
Also, there seems to be no limit on what a Paisa will pay for designer jeans. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks

Thanks
Hasideas, you need to get out more often if you don't know what you can buy in Colombia and resell in the USA for huge profits. Nose candy. Please, if the thought of doing this even crosses your mind go out and rent the movie "Midnight Express" and it will change your mind.

Every girl I know has some or sells some. Too much gringo interaction.

Too much gringo interaction.
I met a young guy on a flight from MIA-BOG once that claimed he made a decent buck by muling over a couple of large suitcases crammed with Levi Jeans. I also know a guy who still brings over a ton of VS stuff and he claims his novia unloads all he can carry in just a couple weeks. I think the reason for this is she isn't selling it to people in the immediate city of Medellin, they live in a pueblo just outside Medellin.
Personally I couldn't be bothered with the bullshit that almost certainly comes with trying to do something like that. My novia in Manizales and several friends ask me why I don't do something like this every time I come, their concept of making good money and my concept of making good money are light years apart and they just don't understand it.
My ex and I tried that back in 2006 with a suitcase full of Victoria's. The people were all excited but when they actually saw the merch, they didn't like the quality and those that we were stupid enough not to get money up front from didn't want to pay us. We barely broke even.
If you know where to look here in Bogota you don't pay extra for ANYTHING. Markups in upscale Colombian neighborhoods are INSANE. Sometimes you can even get shit for cheaper than what you'd pay in the US!
And Colombian leather is difficult to sell out of Colombia because it's really not competitive outside the country for quality / price.
I gave up on all that years ago.
It has occured to me that many Guapas have one or more best photos taken at a hotel or love motel room.
My experience is that is a strong indicator for her to be a prepago, but no garantee of course.
It's easy to see, on the walls, the bed etc. That it is in a hotel.
This is my personal reflexion surfing the Cupid-sites since 2007.
I have also reflected over that many Guapas are on this site very long time, while it would take a few days to find a willing and for her long term interestes adequate gringo or Europeo.
Cupid, eventually has become sites for prepagos, escorts and scammers. One should demand verification, which now are an option, from the girl you are communicating with.
I've got an extra IPhone 3G through ATT. Can this be used in Medellin with a new sim card with Comcel or another local provider. Any recommendation when I can get the phone modified to use there?
Thanks

Thanks
I assume since this is an IPhone 3G you have fulfilled your contract with ATT. If this is the case, go here, read the conditions, check the box, fill out the details, and ATT will send you the unlock code in about a week. This is the "legit" way to do it.
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/
Another option is to look on craigslist for unlocking or jailbreaking service. Under "electronics".
Personally, I turn off all data on my IPhone when I arrive in Colombia. If you use data or location services on your ATT there, your bill will be uh. Breathtaking when you return home. I leave my IPhone in the hotel safe, use the hotel wi-fi to use skype to return calls back to the USA.
I don't want my IPhone to be bait for ladrones, so I buy a cheap basic phone in Colombia, to call my Colombia contacts. I keep too much valuable info on my phone, and don't want to call any unwanted attention to myself.
Hope this helps! Cheers!
Do it the legit way as OD has stated. A lot of times when you jail break the phones they never work right again. I use the same phone (AT&T 3G iPhone) for overseas use. My cousin gave it to me but he had jail broken it. In the DR it always works fine, but when I use it in Peru and Thailand it sporadically says "No SIM", then I have to reboot the phone until the next episode. In Peru they couldn't figure it out. They even replaced some of the contacts that connect to the SIM. In Thailand he said it was probably due to that Cydia program that was on it before.
