They are young, inexperienced and usually find out what their alcohol tolerances are somewhere in public on a Saturday night.
If I remember right the military did a pretty good job of scaring the sh#! Out of us when it came to knocking up a local girl. Also about the importance of age 18 in a woman. There are always exceptions but I seem to remember more things like getting drunk in public, fighting and just generally making an ass of themselves at that age.

My point was there are hundreds of thousands of Colombian men walking away from their obligations which is a much larger problem on their society than a dozen military men walking away from them. And as previous posters mentioned the troop levels won't be increased. They will be on par as previous agreements so who gives a shit. I have yet to hear any women in Cartagena complain to me about the US military.

I put this same question in the LP forum and was told that the beauty pageant is at the Hilton Hotel and that it is difficult to get in and see the pageant. I do have reservations at another hotel beginning that day.

Yes, getting in and seeing the actual televised pageant will be tough. But that whole week before, the contestants are all over Cartagena engaged in different pageant activities.
Unless they changed from last year it is not hard to see the activities. You just have to find out where and when and then pay. Most of it is at the Hilton, but not everything.
Last year my buddy and I met one of the contestant's Uncle.
He was staying at our hotel. The Playa.
I wonder if his niece Miss Antioquia (Medellin) has entered again. She got third place last time.

perhaps a 10-15 minute walk depending on where in Laguito you are coming from.
