Having dinner at a Japanese place in MBK mall and they served me beer.
Signs of life?
I read the same BBC article that most of you have, http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37651953 . I came on here looking for more info possibly from someone on the ground. This is important to me since I am due to arrive next week. While typing this I'm back and forth messaging a Bangkok lady friend I keep in contact with on snap. She's always posting videos and pictures of her out with friends in different bars or whatever. (non-monger places but who knows).
Me: I hear all the bars and clubs will be closed during the mourning period.
Her: yes one month.
Me: wonder if I should cancel my trip since I am to arrive next week.
Her: yes you should change because its the wrong time to come. It will not be fun.
Me: that's too bad I was really looking forward to my visit.
Her: yes you should come later.
I tend to believe her. She's a pretty Thai hooked into the local party scene. Plus it seems that the government (and locals too) wouldn't allow the passing of a beloved long time king go by and 3 days or 2 weeks later the blow shops be back open to business as usual. Especially if you look across the street to the bank and the national flag is still flying half mast. (Announced that they will fly half mast for 30 days). That said, I'm sure someone is going to notice all the cancellations and think of all the crap tons of lost revenue. Question is who is going to be brave enough to mention it to the powers that be? I hope there is some sort of happy medium that is reached. Even with that, I'm sure social media, the malls and other places are going to be packed with opportunities. Like someone else here mentioned, the bills still have to be paid.
From what I hear most Sukhumvit massage places are open but likely very discreet about their services.
There is nothing very discreet, the massage places's business is as usual. Been in Soi 24 this evening, a lot of girls were sitting outside and calling every guys that walks near their shop. The only difference is all of them were wearing black clothes, even the addict girls had black uniform.
I predict tourist places like Nana, Cowboy, and Walking Street will all reopen in 3 days.
I have left the country today but Amen to that.
Sugar baby agogo Pattaya have posted on their FB page that they will remain closed on Friday. ..thats even less than 3 days. Applies for Windmill agogo, owned by same group.
My friend who is an expat in BK reports that Cowboy is closed for an indefinite period (which means it could re-open quickly) but the pubs and bars are still serving so its not all bad news. Hopefully things will start to recover once this weekend is out of the way. Any updates for those on the ground is appreciated. Wondering if the street bars in Sukt will be allowed to re-open, else it really will start to hurt the little people pretty quickly.
So I took a walk from Nana to Asok tonight.
All venues closed. Thermae closed but many girls congregating out in front and customers repeating same dynamic. I even saw a couple of girls I've seen before. All pretty blatant and out in the open with no law enforcement interference.
FLs also out and about in usual spots but smaller numbers.
I met a nice Indian chap and we had a (nonalcoholic) drink at the poolhall place overlooking Thermae. He has been frequenting Baccara and spending considerable coin there this trip. He reports that bouncers told him tonight when he tried to go there that they will reopen 2 morrow.
Some of the sidewalk hotel cafes along sukhumvit that are attached to hotels / restaurants were open and serving booze.
Oddly enough the Hangover movie skybar which is in the hotel conference organizers have put me up was open and serving alcohol tonight until 1 AM. The only non restaurant doing so that I saw. Some cute girls there but didn't have a chance to explore as I couldn't get away from conference participants that were also there. But this place does attract some hot girls. Could be worth a visit under less trying circumstances.
Tough to say but evidence points to a return to normalcy soon.
Ok maybe my news is slightly wrong. Someone could check. The manager told me about 11 or 12 days ago that Suzi would close in 3 days time from then, as lease was taken over by Baccara. Exact details of closure maybe incorrect. However I expect Baccara management to make changes and possibly change the name of the bar.
Just checked. The updated news is that Suzi will close tomorrow.
Stickboy confirms Suzi Wong gogo has been sold to Baccarat owners, but its not clear what changes are likely.

I hope they will improve the standard of girls without introducing all the high surgeries girls. If the nudity goes away, they will lose me for sure unless standard of girls goes dramatically higher.
My Billboard girl has move to Jail Birdz also on the 3rd Floor of Nana and taken over by Billboard Owners. Supposed to have similarities to Billboard. I hope the lighting is better in Jail.

Girls are over dressed, however still appeals to me a lot more than Baccara. Looks of girls seem O.K.
During shut downs its great if you can fall back on your LINE contacts to your regular bargirls. Bar closures would not worry e too much. Save on BFs and drinks.

Signs of life?
This seems to have little relevance to Entertainment or sex. So means little. Religious holidays do have drinking bans, and their are restricted hours for alcohol sales on a normal daily basis. The major reasons for this are to try to limit the drunkenness of Thai workers and failure to turn up for work by the Thais after a holiday, and to limit Thais using a religious holiday for binge drinking purposes. Westerners have to suffer silly restrictions as well.
I don't think Thais exactly equate having a drink, with a lack of respect for the King. Depends a lot more on your behavior. Drink but don't party wildly.
Dear all,
Was in BKK the day King died and just came back to home today. Liquor sales are not being allowed in 7/11 or other exclusive bar areas till the 17th October. They have posted signs for this in 7/11. If you go to any of the restaurants you can have beer or cocktails no problem. Rosabien or Zanzibar restaurant both in Soi 11 not playing any music.
I was in 2 restaurants on 13th & 14th & liquor was being served on both days. The nightclubs are also closed but FL action is easily available on the roads without any police interference at all.
Osaka.
Whisper from Crazy House girl is that CH will open tonight, closed yesterday, probably closed Sunday, and she believes all bars will be open by Monday.
So they probably should have been closed 3 days.
Reminder that tomorrow Sunday is 16 October Wan Ork Phansaa, the emergence of the monks from Buddhist Lent. No alcohol can be sold. Bangkok bars would have been generally closed anyway, regardless of recent catastrophic event. Monday is Wan Thot Gathin, the presentation of the robes to the monks. Thais buy packages to "Thawaay" (offer) to the monks called "SangKathaan" which includes orange robes, rice, and other groceries and useful items like candles, incense sticks, torch etc. Bars may open Monday I believe, not sure if that is all of them.
