Jaragua Garden Rooms
I am currently spending a couple days in Santo Doming and staying at the Jaragua. More then once I have had chicas from the casinio tell me they can get past security and go to the rooms in the back (garden area). I was wondering if anyone else has had that experience there still seems to be a lot of security running around.
I'm headed to DR for the 4th time, unfortunately its with my gf this time around. Since we're staying with her family, I don't want to be seen by any of her relatives trying to hustle chicas. Can anyone recommend a discrete escort service?
An escort? You said you will be staying at the home of your girlfriend, where would you do the deed with an escort? (would you rent a hotel room and have the escort visit you at the hotel?)
The classified advertisements in listin diario have chicas who will meet you like an escort. Also mundo anuncio online has chicas who advertise like escorts.
If you can get away for an hour or two to be with an escort, why don't you go to a casa and choose a chica and have sex on site. Or pick up a street chica and take her to Navarro hotel or to a cabana for a quickie.
GBP best deal in SDQ, has rooms on site. Casa azul has rooms, Pink Pony has rooms, Grand Paradise is on site, I believe Penthouse has rooms. There are many options.
Will you be staying in Santo Domingo? Do you know the name of the neighborhood where you will be staying?
Based upon where you may be staying, we could offer better advice as where you could go for a quickie, discretely.

Hotel Jaragua has a no guest policy. I stayed on tower room over a year ago and had no problem bringing in 2 girls, they were of good appearance and decently dressed. They are not going to stop every woman to see if she is a guest or not. I stayed one day on garden room in October 2009, again no problem taking a girl to the room.
I send a letter to Jaragua management complaining about the guest policy. I told them that while I rent a hotel room I want to feel "at home", bringing guests like if I were at home. I recommended to exclude garden rooms of their no guest policy.
Casino girls usually pay a comission to some security guys to let them in hotel rooms with clients. Most casino girls are not worth the $, they are real pros.

Most of the wait staff are working and may easily roam about to most parts of the hotel!

Av Venezuela
Venezuela Strip in SD? is that all that's needed to locate the discos / fun places there?
I recommend you tell your cab driver you are looking for a bar with "movimiento" on Av Venezuela and you need not say anything more.
Warning: the last time I picked up a girl in that area she was incredibly hot and definitely NOT P4P (although she was definitely looking for money). We had sex for hours. In the bar, things did not go well, however. She ordered scotch whiskey and they brought a bottle. We had a few drinks from a bottle of White Label and then they charged me an exorbitant amount for the entire bottle (I think it was around $90 US; I wrote about this a few years back on this web site). I didn't have the cash, and they threatened me physically. I, on the other hand, was certain they were trying to rip me off since White Label is cheap [CodeWord140]. I got out after some negotiation, but it was scary. Be careful in Dominican bars. Best to order beer in a bottle!
I have been back to the area, and I did make some connections, but have never again succeeded in getting a girl to go home with me after the first introductions. Instead, the girls I have met always wanted a second date before agreeing to have sex. So my strategy these days is to hit a disco/bar on a Friday night, party with a girl I like until about midnight, ask her home and if she refuses invite her to dinner on Saturday. This leaves me time to find a working girl in one of the many many locations in SD for Friday night, and is about 99% certain to land me a girl in my bed on Saturday night. The trick is in being a gentleman (they never see this from Dominican men), but in letting them know that real love involves copious amounts of fornication!

How much did you have to pay for the Garden wing? How does it compare to
the tower rooms?
I stayed there for one night about 5 years ago and I believe it was $120 for a tower room. Not sure as I never paid, some glitch with my CC and the charge never showed up on my statement. Guess I should have gone back to make it right (lol)

My last couple of trips to SD I have stayed at the Jaguar hotel, always enjoyed my stays ther. however lately I have read afew reports on this and other boards that it is slipping in some ways. This surprises is me as the owner lives on site and seems to understand what it takes to run a hotel for gringos. Maybe he is away on an extended vacation.
Anyone with anything recent to report? For a few more $$ may as well stay at the Riazor

The earlier part of this year the owner was out of town for awhile. The hotel was actually run better when he was away. He has returned now and with a slightly bitchie mood. Maybe his wife is bugging him and the current construction doesn't help.

The current construction is on his residential area, it was almost finished when I visited the hotel 3 weeks ago. I talked to the owner, he was nice and very welcoming. We talked about the guest policy and he said he has no problem with people bringing guests, the only thing he do not like is people doing crazy things in public areas , as for example people making noise and running nude and drunk up and down the stairs.
Were you leavin dildo shaped balloons and sandwiches corridors or down the stairs, BQ? LOL.

Price can vary from week to week buy it is very garden room usually costs near a hundred dollars with taxes.
I got a tower room for $75 a day on May 2009 (taxes included) thanks to a Visa card promotion, plus an upgrade to executive level rooms thanks to Marriot Rewards card. $75 for a room that usually cost $200 or more was a great value.
Venezuela Strip in SD? is that all that's needed to locate the discos / fun places there?
Cool Bar, Wao Bar, House Drink Bar, La Barrica and others are on Avenida Venezuela, which is on the other side of the rio ozama and north of las americas roadway, very close to the big white modern bridge (Bosch Bridge).
The bars are Avenida Roberto Pastorini (Sinatra, Zambra) are also popular, probably with a little higher class clientèle.
Bottoms Bar in the Hotel Clarion could be a spot to meet non-p4p women.

I think you should spend a day or two there and come up with your own assessment, as there are some things that might or might not bother you. I stayed at the Riazor and I did not like it, just my opinion that for that price I should at least get wi-fi in the room.
I did spend one night at the jaguar back in July and there is construction going on as was mentioned. For that reason, they kept my room key at the front desk just in case the construction people needed it. I do not know why they would need to enter my room and I did not ask. Maybe they had lost the room key and could only use the master key. I had to call the guy in the lobby to lock my door whenever I left, and have him unlock it whenever I returned. Upon checking in they did not tell me this, so I ended up staying in my room for over one hour waiting for someone to bring my key, only to find out later they would keep it the whole time.
The wireless internet did not work. Luckly the owner was there and he brought me a lan cable for the wall plug. He seemed very helpful and corteous. I did not bring any women into the jaguar that night, so I cannot explain if they are relaxed about that kind of stuff. The owner's family was there thru the day, so I cannot imagine what would happen if I decided to make it obvious I was banging pros.

When I stayed in the Garden Section, the guard stopped me every time, day and night. I could have been with Mother Theresa and the guards at the Garden Section wouldn't have let her in.
Tower rooms have a nice view, the pool is nice at the Jaragua, other than that and a good location and there is no reason to stay at the Jaragua Hotel.
I would never stay at the Jaragua again.

Avenida Venezuela discos
I believe Ave Venuezuela and nearby San Vicente Ave. has the biggest concentration of discos, pubs, clubs, colmadones and bars in Santo Domingo. The area is near the 'barrios' so it is considered by locals as a dangerous area. I visited the area on X-mas 3 years ago and had lots of fun, visiting near a dozen clubs in one night.
I went to Casa Modelos on my last trip, and while talking to my girl she asked me places I have visited in the city. I mentioned a few places, including Ave. Venezuela discos, and she told me "are you crazy? Venezuela is dangerous I went there once and a guy got killed on Makumba (a disco), I have heard a lot of incidents occur in that area"
A friend was there a week ago and arrived on a taxi with a wingman. They were walking and stopped by a police officer. The police asked if they were puertoricans and later added: "bori (bori=boricua=puertorican) what are your doing here, this a very dangerous area, as you can see, there is a lot of police officer here, there have been a lot of incidents, some of this places are owned by drug lords and you are a target to pickpocketers, robbers even girls that will seduce then use some substance to sleep and rob you, there are better areas in the city for people like you" . They got scared and left on a taxi to a place on Lincoln Ave.
The time I was on Venezuela I saw a well lit, clean and vibrant Avenue. Things change, my opinion was based on my experience.
A dominican friend was online while I was writing this and I asked " Hi sexy, I have a question for you, Is Venezuela Avenue area dangerous?", she replied "Nooo, no es peligrosa, solo que tienes que ir montao (is is not dangerous but you have to go in your own car)" . I asked her why I have to go in my own car, and she replied: If something occur then you have a method to move away the area fast.

Jaguar Hotel
Just to set the record straight Jaguar Hotel is about as chica friendly as chica friendly can get without an additional charge. Bringing chicas in anytime of the day or night is no problem at all.
The on going construction is hit or miss. Some days they work and some days they don't. This has been going on for almost a year now.
