LOL. With Moscow Traffic it's damn far. Train goes 40 minutes from Paveletsky. Not sure if it stops somewhere in between. If you go from Milan to Paveletsky you spend an hour for metro + walking or two hours on taxi on week days. To Milan if you invite a girl you'll need to pay for taxi additionally and wait 40 minutes longer than usual. From this point of view it makes almost no difference if you stay in Milan or Domodedovo hotel. But from Domodedovo you probably have better access to the airport and to the train.

If you think the traffic in Moskva is bad, you should see the traffic on the Long Island Expressway at shass peak, on the way to JFK. It makes Varshovskoe shosse look like a country road.
I've made the trip from the center of Moscow to DME 4 times, 3 by car, and each time it was less than an hour, which is comparable to the run from mid-town Manhattan to JFK, or downtown LA to LAX. Obviously, if you try to make the trip at 16:00, it will take much longer than at 03:00. Also, I was driven by friends who know Moscow well and can avoid many of the probki, but no more than any taxist would.
The "express" train from DME to Paveletskaya is not exactly a Japanese bullet train, but it chugs along determinedly and makes an occasional stop, didn't notice where.
My point is simply that if you have a long layover at DME and all you need is a place to crash for the night until your 06:00 flight, then the Milan is probably a good choice. But if your flight out of DME is not until later in the day, stay the night in the city where you will have more options. You could, for example, make a visit to (gulp) Hot Dog's!

In most places it is the same. The only reason foreigners end up often paying more is language. Foreigners who only speak English will end up going to those places that have some girls that speak English, and those are expensive places. DME to center takes about 45 minutes during non-peak hours and about 90 minutes in peak time 5-7pm weekdays. Done it dozens of times. Was much worse before the crisis, traffic slightly less now. Sunday evenings in the summer months are terrible however as people return from dacha on same road. This CAN take 2 hours. Taxi to center takes 2000 rubels.
Hotel Milan to center not more than 30 by taxi, about 400-500 rubels max.

For understanding how Moscow is expencive... jut take a look at hotel prices (crazy for centrally located ones) twice than anywhere in EU... If you go to a market (I mean a rinok) everything you find (apart potato, cabbage, pork meat and some kind of fish) is more expencive than in Italy...
Business is bad in Moscow too and thre are streams of willing girls. Obvious that nobody is going to Moscow only for sex! Cuba will be a better destination for the price of a standard hotel and a overnighter (let's say 400 €) you can get a casa particular and five girls there! I usually stay on the other side of the city (closer to SVO on gound of my business) and it takes from one to one and half hour to get there and 30/40 € depending on the way (see off or waiting). And mind that I usually get at DME in peak time on ground getting there around 4-5 p.m.
Milan hotel is close to Domodedovskaya metro statio (800 meters or so) and quite close to MKHAD... Surely not a place where i want to find myself if sleeping over in Moscow. Thinking to the price too... well over 100 € in the middle of nowhere! :(

I twice had them charge me the wrong price for stuff... I chalk it off as inexperience of the wait staff, but it also could be girls being "hitrie".
