In the past 2 years I have never been stopped in the PI or Thailand and I'm in and out of both a couple times a month. I wouldn't worry about it. I would just play idiot... The only look I have gotten was leaving Manila at the first x-ray machine as I had 3 bottles of Tanduay in my checked bag. And it was only a look and was asked "Tanduay".

I think you are mistaken that it doesn't include the woman's cut. When I've been there before, the woman gets 1000 out of the 1700. The thing that's difficult in Cebu is that the barfine structure changes from different ownerships over there. I believe there is a bar or two over there that doesn't include a cut for the women in the barfine. Then again, maybe it changes based on the customer.

I agree with Keymaster on this also. The 1700 pesos includes the BF and the girls tip. One of the girls who use to work at Vikings told me this also. 700 pesos to the bar and 1000 tip goes to the girl. From my previous visit to the bars on Mango, Vikings, BG, Erik the Red and Club Temptations all quoted 1700 pesos. Dimples and Lonestars BF was quoted higher. My friend who BF a girl at BGs bar next to Vikings paid 1700 pesos but, she didn't even ask for any tip the following morning.

Oh guys, I was wondering, my last visit to Cebu was back in Oct 2009. What are the chances of seeing the same girls at the gogo bars?

That's cool Mort. I wasn't doubting anything that you said before because you have obviously "got game" and it gives you a kick. All I was doing was giving a different perspective (mine) about the scene there in case there were a few people reading this site who thought it just might be easy. For me, it's not.

I would, however, want to take a contrary side in a debate with you about your comment that "you are as safe in Jonquera as you are in any other part of Cebu", but I'd rather do it over a cold SMB.

I have heard the same warnings last week from several girls about how some places on Mango Avenue are no longer safe because of needle attacks. I googled this subject just to see if there was a news story reported somewhere but no dice. I am not sure if this story is fact or fiction but in the PI these kinds of stories are often taken as fact as they pass from one person to the next with very little thought to the source of the story.

I spent a few days with a great girl from Vikings. She claimed that I was only her second barfine in a year. She usually just works for LD's. Anyway, she assured me that she gets 1,000 from the 1,700 bar fine. I tipped her 200 each day. Probably not enough but she kept coming back for more.

Well whenever I go into Robinson's Fuente, I always get a good laugh at alot of the imported guys who would pass no problem for unemployed welfare cases back on the other side of the pond. I know that some might be retired, but are they retired from shaving and is the 100P too much to get someone to wash their clothes? Some of the guys in there look like they don't have two Pisos to rub together and while I can tell from looking at them that they saved all there retirement money and clipped a thousand coupons for a whole year to be able to spend three weeks in the PI knee deep in brown spinners. Sad to say that alot of the local women think they are millionaires because of where they come from, but the only truth to them is the air part, not the million.

I often see the same guys sitting at Bo's coffee at 11am when I go up to the third floor to get a load for my phone, then again at 5pm when my GF and I would come back to get some chicken at Mang Inasal on the first floor. So guys, please, for me, wash your clothes and whatever you do try hard to shave and spend the 80P to get your hair cut because some of you guys look like Tom Hanks in Castaway, before he was rescued.

I am not saying all the guys in there look messed up, but alot do, so please leave the Ho-Bo's look to the girls who frequent those tables. ;)

Hmm... what did the girls in Cebu say about these needle attacks? Are foreigners the main victims on the attacks? Or, anyone in general is a victim of a needle attack? This is making me a bit worried now as we like to go to gogo bars on Mango Avenue.

I had been to Blue Angels previously and this time it was much better. There were about 6 chicas who were easily worth taking out..IMHO. The ambience of the bar is nice and the mamasan was helpful without being pushy.

Not sure if things have really changed or they marked you guys for some reason. I think they may be trying to ensure it's not just a 1000 from the barfine from you guys and that you'll be tipping them in the morning to go with you. That 1000 of 1700 is somewhat typical of a few bars there as mentioned earlier, I believe Hot Rods is or was the same. Vikings gets a lot of play, so maybe the women were making sure they were going to get there's if they were to go and that's the company line in there. I've been there before and talked to one a ways back and she asked about if staying to the morning if there was something more in it for her in regards to tip.

I just pass on what I hear, and am sure this is the same story from a while back...certainly if anyone had been needled and was in a critical condiiton it would be reported somewhere, more so if an expat/tourist get the needle...

However, it has had the effect on some and my friends steer clear of area for now so whoever started it (a competitor etc) is is having some impact

One is my steady GF that lives in Cebu City. She was told by her aunt to tell me to stay away from Mango because she heard about needle attacks.

The other girl is a FH contact I made some time ago, she lives in Lapu2. Once she heard I was headed back to Cebu she told me the same thing, to stay away from Mango.

Two different sources told me the same thing. I have no idea if the info is true or not, and it will not keep me away from the area. I like my Yellow Cab pizza too much.

Where did you think they were from? Kansas? ;)
