You feel like a kid in a candy store at York - the sheer number is mind boggling (havent yet been to Cyclone) and the girls are friendly. You have some extremely delectable (been given to understand) Erytrians and Ethiopians - unfortunately their reputation of being drags precedes them and you keep thinking why take a chance? Some Chinese cute but many (at least to me) irritating, especially the latch on ones. Also, limited English for most means you cant really get beyond the standard market banter. Debunking some myths - contrary to popular perception, actually found the CIS girls the best (when you have glared and stared them down) - you can have a decent conversation with them - and once they have settled down, they actually are quite nice. Probably been lucky. Downsides - more regimented routine - report to manager/ cant call in (most dont seem to have phones (managers dont allow)/ managers suspicious of clients that are too regular. From what I understand, they are also the most exploited lot - gets paid a fraction from what is collected by the managers. By the way, tried sticking to advice on paying later - doesnt seem possible with the CIS. They have rules, and no amount of cajoling seems to work. I just popped over from the Abu Dhabi thread. Not really done much of the Dubai nightlife so tend to just lurk here. Nice report there from BH, anbd it got me thinking especially as I have just vowed to explore the CIS (and roundabouts) scene a little more. So would someone just be kind enough to give me a quick run down on how the CIS scene generally works please?

I'm well familiar with the Chinese and my friend does a lot of African and they all seem to be 'free spirits'. i.e. do their own thing, keep their own money etc.

Am I right in thinking and having observed that generally all CIS/stands/Russians etc. are 'managed'. I've seen them reporting back to guys in clubs but never 'madames'? Did I just happen to chance on 'independants' both times?
