The BIG change in Salvador is that Casquinha de Siri is gone. I LOVED that place.. what a shame. What is there now? Is it the same?

My friend and I visited Salvador several times. We rented a house ($50US a night in 2003 - 2006 for the WHOLE 3 bedroom house) in Praia Flamenco. Then we found a really cool taxi driver. He would pick up 5 or 6 girls from Casquinha, bring them back to the house and we'd party all night. In the day, the others who wouldn't fit in the taxi the night before would come over. They cooked, cleaned and fucked us silly. Ah, the good old days :)

Salvador is (was) a great place if you have a little savvy. I hope to get there soon, but with the falling dollar, its getting expensive.

I will be in Salvador next week for work but have some time off. Can anyone recommend places to go to find the garotas. I hear Casquirha da siri is closed. Is that true if so where have the garotas gone? Thanks for the help.

There are still some GDPs that hang out on the street outside the old C de S. I suspect many have gone further south to the Aeroclube.

Entrance 10r if I remember correctly. Eros is probably the best boite in town. About 40-50 women. No compare with the rio scene but its OK. 150r for the night should do the job. Have fun.

This placed was already closed when I was in Salvador in June of 2006.

I dropped by the place in July of 2006. There were many workmen rebuilding the site. They told me a new restaurant was going to open in October of 2006. Maybe someone can give an update on that location.

Last year I pick up a girl off the street in front of Eros. Not really that special.

Yes, you can. I have been to Eros. It is a higher end club with good looking women. However, I found the attitudes of most of the women and most of the staff unpleasant. The taxi drivers outside were not much better. The place is over priced in my opinion. I don't recommend Eros.

However, my preference is for a great attitude and great performance. I am willing to go with average looking women with great attitudes. I am not willing to go with great looking women with lousy attitudes. YMMV.

The prices state $190/wk for group lessons (with homestay?). Maybe it's a different school.

It was quite easy to find spanish lessons in Quito, Ecuador for around $4-6/hour one-on-one.
Anybody know where the cheaper schools are at in Brazil ? Maybe they don't exist . . .. . :(

I would not spend more than 3 days there.

Arrived back in Rio from SSA today and although not Rio as far as pay for play, still very good. Beautiful women (for the most part very approachable) good food and lots of scenery. Portuguese skills are very much a benefit in this town (along with a tolerance for Italians) but not a necessity.

I can recommend a very reliable driver - Arlindo (71) 8713 9460 who can pick you up at the airport, arrainge girls and get you into all of the right night spots and make sure you get a table. He was invaluable for me as a first timer alone in SSA as he is hooked up with everybody. I paid him R$150nt for private driver service that picked me up in the evening, took me to restaurants, negotiated girls rates, drop me off at my apto at 2-3am and in some instances at the girls request would pick them up in the morning and drive them home at no extra charge.He checks your bill at the clubs to make sure they don't overcharge which they almost always did. I'm sure he will negotiate less rate for less service.

I recommend Paradise Bahia Property Management service for apartment rentals. I stayed at the Edificio Yacht Privelige which is a 1 yr old high rise overlooking the Bahia de Todos Santos in Barra. Everyone said it is the best apart hotel in town which I believe. It is also girl friendly, no extra charge and no registration required, they don't charge extra for electricity like other services do. I paid R$150 nt for an ocenfront room including daily maid, towels etc. Claudio was my contact his number is (71) 3264 5588. He speaks perfect english.

Porto do Barra beach in the day is the spot to soak up sun and look at girls. Pros on the beach everywhere trying to make eye contact. Was quoted R$100 but usually was to exhausted to act on it. Unlike Rio Salvador has a different hot spot every night ( but usually the same girls) so it really pays to be with someone who can take you to the spots, and much like Rio it doesn't take long before you start to see some familiar faces.

Monday night is Santissima on the beach just past Rio Vermelho. It's a must see destination. 150+ working girls a 14 piece live Pagode band that starts about midnight, loads of fun. Tuesday night is like a roving street fair in Pelourinho which is the colonial tourist town in Cidade Alta. Tuesday night stands apart from other nights in that the girls all go to listen to street bands and funk music. Lots of beautiful Morenas. You can easily find a little bar in one of the many pracas to sit and listen to live music, have a beer and make eye contact, the rest is easy. Wednesday night is Bombarra which I didn't care for the girls must sit at tables and can't leave the until they go home. You must approach them and initiate conversation. I guess the management wants you to spend money on the girls. It's pretty strict and the girls must obey or will be banned. Thursday night is Aeroclube which is on the main strip where most of the bars and clubs are where the girls are good but not great and a little pricey on the drinks.

I pulled a girl from Eros strip club one night she was a great time stayed the night and didn't even ask for money. most of the girls ask R$ 250 R$300 for the night. I always paid it but I'm in my mid forties and in a position to pay so I didn't mind. Everything there is negotiable so if you are on a budget I'm sure one will have no problem trying find something reasonable.I had to pay a fine for taking her out of the club plus the entrance fee total R$60 plus the girl but like I said she was delightful and from what I hear the drink prices there are crazy you DO NOT want to get a table there and drink with a girl.

ALL in all Salvador is a great time. I'd say you're better off with a buddy or someone to hang out with. Girls are everywhere. On the outskirts of town in the beach areas near Itapoa girls kind of oggle you like an oddity as a light skinned foreigner but they're friendly and want to meet you so don't be shy in this town. Arlindo was a great asset, he even offered me a computer print out of questions foreigners need to know how to ask in Pt to order food, change money pick up girls etc. The food is excellent and cheap compared to Rio. The place is rustic and loaded with history and plenty of nightlife so go to Salvador and enjoy!

There is a place to go every night but they are often some ways from one another and about 25 minute drive from Barra where I stayed. Arlindo knows them all as will any of the girls you will meet.Arlindos second phone number is 71 8120 7223 he usually can produce at least a couple of night spots any day of the week. He is very eager to please and he is very punctual.

He provided me with a city tour one day for an additional R$100 which began in cidade Baixa then to Igreja do Bonfim and went out to Itapoa stopping along the way to have a coco or snap a photo or even have a chat with a couple of lovely cuties who where walking along the beach and curious about the gringo. I know they would have jumped at the opportunity to "fazer um programa."

Yes Paradise Bahia Property Management does have 2 br aptos in the Edicficio Yacht Priveledge building where I stayed I believe the oceanfront rooms are really two one bdrm apto with the center wall removed. I saw a flier that stated a price of R$190/nt.

A friend of mine stayed in a much less desireable area recently in a building that is not oceanfront for the same R$150/nt but electricity is not included.Paradise was thoroughly professional and made it really easy for me. They also returned my deposit on the spot and where very punctual.

Anybody who likes Rio and has a preference for morenas and mulattas must visit Salvador. I even saw a couple of extraordinarily beautiful loiras but I believe they where out of towners working in SSA. Salvador is not as easy as Rio to navigate and you need to be a bit more adventurous but it's got a lot to offer, it's also considerably cheaper which helps since the Dollar went south. Good luck to all and don't discount the north east, the europeans love it and for good reason.

My friends and I are looking to rent an apartment in Salvador in January.
Jan 18-23

We need a 3br place with a doorman and a in apartment internet connection. It does not need to be that high end of a place just something near Port Da Barra close to the beach in a nice area.

Would everyone know where to find one.
