I was wondering if anyone knows about any sim prepaid plan that can work in neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia etc. Won't mind if there are roaming charges. Better to have something than buy from each country separately.
If you know of any company in Thailand that sells something like this please share.
"Any" will do.
Just need to make sure you leave thsilsjd with sufficient credit or have a friend in thuslsnd that can remote add credit to your number.
Although there were other Lady Drink hustles
I used to run tabs but after several close calls, I decided to always settle each round. I am also not averse to asking for drink prices beforehand as some of the drink price can vary a lot. I had one bar quote a price of USD70 for a Long Island Ice Tea. I cancelled the order. Some of the people try to make you feel poor or a cheap charlie (a very common sales tactic in many marketing fields) but I don't let it bother me. I am secure in the knowledge of my purchasing power and financial situation.
What other Lady Drink hustles have you come across?
OMG man! You are very unlucky with freelancers. You did the right thing to not pay her in advance and send her back home with "taxi money". My advice is to always start with ST then turn ST in LT if you have a good feeling with her. Have a videocall before meeting help for check if the girl look like the photos.
Online freelancer is hard to have conversation and ask for videos. I did ask for videos sometimes but rarely received any response. Sometimes it takes hours to receive a response, guess the girl just check her account every a few hours so not very efficient. Probably its better to go thermae, spasso.
First, the coke double drink thing has never happened to me in CH. Now if I am buying a couple rounds of Tequilas for one of my regular CH girls, I have two, and we are fooling around in the bar as a prelude to the rest of the evening, and she asks me if she can have a coke; I buy her a coke. I buy one for myself too by the way, a diet coke, since I have to watch my calories, because drinking tequila makes you thirsty and you can get dehydrated quite easily. We don't want no hangovers. But I think I am talking about something totally different than what a couple of other BM's are reporting.
Second, like even in the hottest Go Go's in Pattaya, it is still all about the top 10%. And believe me, CH has several girls on the roster that are very hot. The hot ones may only account for a small portion of the total number of girls and they may not be there every night, or they may get barfined early, but when they are in attendance, it is worth being there.
So, CH has been my favorite bar for a couple of years and as of my last visit because of the above, but mainly because I have a couple of repeat girls working there that I am quite fond of and whom never let me down. I will be seeing both of them on my 2nd night in town and I am bringing presents! 555.
Lastly, everybody treats me really good at CH. Nobody tries to play any tricks on me. Maybe it's because I am member. LOL. Fat waitress, my favorite waitress, knows exactly where I like to sit and what I like to drink before my girls arrive...
My experience with CH is pretty positive too. No drink scam. Girl plays with you for 10-15 minutes for one drink and let you basically do anything with their naked body. One even let me played her body without a drink when I say I like her. Other bars are not that friendly including bacarra and some bars in Nana. Again my experience is limited but out of 5-6 bars I scouted, CH has the best service for me.
Natty, I only started to notice the tequila and coke (double Lady Drink) scam happening in CH for the past few months, which would be after your last visit. Although there were other Lady Drink hustles and heavy Lady Drink-buying pressure going on in CH before the double drink scam trend started, I think that particular one is somewhat new for them. Of course, if you went in tonight and sat with girls who already know you, know your style, know you are apt to be generous with Lady Drink purchases anyway, they might not bother pulling the double Lady Drink scam on you.
But my bet is if you walked into CH tonight and found yourself with a brand new never before met lady on your lap, her first drink order would be a crafty "tequila and coke, you ok?" request, which means two drinks at two full Lady Drink prices, not one tequila with coke mixed into it drink. However, by the time you return to Bkk, who knows, maybe CH will have changed to a different Lady Drink hustle / pressure tactic.
I feel the opposite way actually. In other bars once you said ok the lady will order the drink for herself before you can see the bill, but in CH the waitress / mamasan will double check with you and even show you the cost before they get the drink for the girl. The drink does cost more, 300+ I think, but I don't feel being scammed.

But if I am new to a bar, I ask the price of whatever she orders. My first time at Crazy House, the girl ordered a tequila coke. I asked the price and the waitress even showed me the price list. But that price list does not have the two together. It has them listed separately. They made no mention that I was going to be charged for two drinks. It's a scam, no doubt about it. As far as I know, no other bar does that. I have never been charged over 300 baht at any bar in Thailand for a lady drink other than Crazy House. It happened the first time, but I haven't allowed it to happen again since. Even though they will try it every time. I would rather buy one drink and give the girl 100 baht tip for taking care of me while we sit down than buy 2 drinks on first meeting.
Fortunately, I have since found that one of the old waitresses I knew from another bar works there now. She will ensure that I get a nice girl and that there are no double drink orders. I do buy that waitress drinks as well, but at least I know what I am getting into when I do it. She's a lot more helpful than the mamasans at finding a good girl for me. Sometimes she pulls out little stunners that I hadn't even seen dancing. She's a gem.

I've bought a lot of Lady Drinks in a lot of Bkk go-go bars over the years and I don't recall a server ever double checking with me on the price of a Lady Drink or voluntarily informing me what the price of a Lady Drink was going to be by stating it verbally or showing me a menu with the prices on it, least of all Crazy House. I have had the server at CH ask if I indeed wanted to buy the girl a drink, of course. But never double checking to make sure I knew and understood the cost of what I was buying beforehand.
If I asked, sure, they would tell me or show me a menu with the prices on it. But not double check to make sure I knew the one Lady Drink the girl just ordered would cost me, say, 180 baht or that the two Lady Drinks the girl just ordered would cost me 300 baht without my asking.

Valuables safety
Hi guys,
I'm making my way through the threads to get a feel of what I can expect. I have to say the recent prices are a bit discouraging. A friend recently visited over the CNY holidays, quoted the same bars mentioned in the posts but claimed the rates were around 1800-2200 max. I'm wondering if there might be some double standard with the girls pricing westerners vs asian patrons?
To my actual question, as a solo traveler I'll be traveling around doing touristy stuff with a high end camera most of the day and I might go straight into the bars or BJ bars afterwards if I can't be bothered to take it back to the hotel. It will be in a backpack, not displayed openly but I'm wondering if I would be taking additional risks doing this. I'm not sure I'm comfortable leaving it at a hotel either.

When I agree to buy the girl a lady drink who was with me, the Mamasan did came over to confirm with me, but did not show me the price. I bought one lady drink and one for me and the bill come to 500 be, was told LD for 330 and my for 170.

Ask and Order
Not sure whether it's a rookie mistake or not when I read all comments about girls asking for example a tequila coke instead of one drink only.
In fact I had the same issue when I went for the first time in CH. Since then I ask the girl what she wants to drink and I order the drink instead of her ordering her own drink. Worked for me.
When I agree to buy the girl a lady drink... was told LD for 330 and my for 170.
A Lady Drink, LD, is often a nondescript drink (with some sweet mix), that cost an arm and a leg. Meant to generate drink commissions for the girl. Tequila and Coke are regular separate drinks meant to be confused with Rum and Coke, which are meant to be mixed together (like Gin and Tonic). I think a LD and a Tequila and Coke 2 drink order might cost the same. Tequila and margarita are usually expensive and what the girls order. I am not a bartender but I think they are just taking advantage of ignorance and fear of appearing like a cheap charlie.
The problem is girls use the LD as a gauge to guys generosity / desperation and not his financial acumen. The interesting thing is that some FL regular girls actually are astute enough to tell me not to buy them drinks. They would rather take a direct donation later. It is different with bar girls because many have a drink minimum target.

To my actual question, as a solo traveler I'll be traveling around doing touristy stuff with a high end camera most of the day.
I've never felt unsafe in Bangkok or Pattaya, but you are prudent to take precautions, particularly keeping the bag within sight at all times. The greater likelihood might be that you'd forget your bag, leaving it behind after being left lightheaded after a session. You leave it behind, and there is at least an 80 percent probability that nobody knows nothin' once you return to fetch it. And unless you've got a monster lens, many of the safes in the hotels I've stayed in were relatively spacious (fit laptops).

I think what happen was the girl asked me to buy a drink for her and I agreed. I did not understand what she said to the bartender. The mamas an came to me and said to me "do you want to buy a drink for her" I said yes. Then when the bill came, it was 330 for her and 17 o for me, a ching beer.
The question is how do you separate the drink for the lady from the ladydrink.
IMHO, you can't. It is the business model of hostess establishments. You can buy her all the beer you want but she will usually not get any credit or commission and you will not get any honey. I probably weigh 2-3 times more than the girls and I cannot and do not want to drink more that 6 drinks a night. Unless she is Irish, most girls cannot drink me under the table. I think they need to hustle more than 3 drinks a night.
I don't know the rules or models a establishment uses. I just ask the ladies what they want and how much it will cost me. Very crude but I never say that they are hoes nor treat them as such. I am happy with my contribution and they are happy because they got what they wanted. I start collecting the rewards from then on.
The funny thing is that I had girls ask for a drink and actually tell me that it is a regular drink and cost the same as mine. I also had pros buy me a drink after I buy them a drink and tell them that I am just chilling and not looking for company. Funny world. But these were not at hostess bars.
The question is
FWIW, I am no expert. Some posters claim to know the management of these establishments and will have more insight. I am just a consumer like you looking through the window.
