Viagra is a over the counter drug in the DR. It is also much cheaper then in the states. It is not a big deal where you put it.

I always bring copies of my scrip paperwork that my pharmacy includes with every order just in case any problems arise. I also carry double the amount needed and split my meds evenly amongst my carry ons just in case I'm separated from one of my bags, I have enough to get me thru the trip.
So I'm gathering that Sosua is def the place for pros / sport action.
Are there non-pros available in Sosua also?
What would people recommend as the best area anywhere in DR to hunt for non-pros?

Costs a little over a dollar per dose, its effective and there have been no problems with it reported on this forum.

If you want to get into a non-pro's knickers on a short trip you will need some of these assets:
Young (within 10 years of her age).
Good looking.
Smart dresser.
Good dancer of merengue, bachata and / or salsa.
Big spender
Decent rental car.
Most important of all - reasonably fluent Spanish.
You will strike out 70% of the time but even if you are lucky, you will probably end up spending three times as much as you would with a pro or semi-pro.
After my initial years here I have avoided both full-time pros and non-pros and concentrated on semi-pros. By "semi-pros" I mean women for whom prostitution is not their only or main means of supporting themselves, but will be happy to take straight cash if picked up. They don't leave home with the intention (and in many cases the desperate need) of finding a client or three to pay the bills, support a habit or a chulo, but they will be alert to the opportunity of doing so and are not embarrassed to accept money afterwards.
Most ex-pats go for these types, but they are hard to identify when someone is here on a short trip and almost impossible without some Spanish (or French for haitianas).
Sosua is the worst place to find non-pros or semi-pros. It is a small town where there is no privacy. Non-pros wouldn't want to be seen as a prostitute by family or workmates, and semi-pros can be intimidated by the regular pros.
Puerto Plata is a good size for semi-pros. Big enough to have thousands of girls and two universities (the most promising hunting-ground) and for a girl to avoid neighbours and family if she hangs in a different part of the city. And with a Dominican cafe / dance-hall nightlife which is totally absent in Sosua where locales are dominated by prostitutes and gringos.
90% of the time when guys post they have been with a non-pro they are bullshitting or have been bullshitted. Exceptions would be women over 30 (that is approaching middle-aged here) or in remote country areas where they might have led some naive girl up the garden path with promises. But nowadays with TV and cellphones, even chicas in remote areas usually know the score.

But my Spanish is next to nothing, and the general picture that list paints is def not me.
I think at this stage I'm just going for it, and pop my newbie DR cherry.

I should rephrase though, that it seems I'm looking more for a semi-pro than a pro.

(1) Whether you will be a solo monger who is free 24/7, or with your wife and only free for a few hours in the daytime. They would be two totally different trips needing different strategies.
(2) Where you will be staying if already booked. If not already booked, and not with your wife, do NOT book into an AI. It will totally cramp your style, you will waste time and money on transport and booking short-time rooms, and you will miss out on socialising with other mongers from whom you can learn a lot and who will help you avoid pitfalls.
Read the reports here and see how many guys stay in AIs. Less than 1 in a 100, I would guess.
Once you know where you are staying, Sosua or Puerto Plata, transfer these posts to the appropriate thread because it will not be "General Information".

Was really hoping for Casa Colonial but just realized it's not AI.
Basically looking at VH Gran Ventana, which seems to be an OK resort, but I like the fact it's part of the playa dorada complex.
Other option might be Be Live Grand Marien, which looks like it's right in PP, so should give wifey lots to do.
Third option is still Barcelo which was recommended here, but Gran Ventana seems to get better reviews.

Be Live Gran Marien is in Costa Dorada next to Iberostar. I lied when I said Iberostar was the only hotel there.
I know nothing about hotels. In eight years in the DR I have only slept two nights in hotels. Always in apartments, private houses, brothels, cabanas, bus stations or ditches.
A few guys here know some hotels, but you are better off looking on travel sites where you get more, and more up-to-date, opinions.
Generally hotels on the North Coast will be inferior to most other places you have been except for those at Punta Cana which are newer. Tourist trade on the North Coast is badly run-down so they don't invest. How on earth did you con your wife into coming to the North Coast and not there?

Most of your options seemed to be in vicinity of Playa Dorada / Costa Dorada.
Field of Dreams / FOD will likely be your best choice.
Unless you plan on keeping your wife drugged for most of the day, I suggest that you don't have the time to waste looking / socializing / seducing a semi-pro.
Sosua is a "buyer beware" environment where you can have a good experience or bad, depending on the girl you chose.
Especially as you are inexperienced in the DR, and with your wife along, you could find yourself in a bad situation more easily in Sosua.
For a newbie with no / few Spanish skills, I strongly recommend FOD, as you have a controlled atmosphere.
No one will pick your pocket, or demand a higher price once in the room, etc. No druggies, and less chance of disease.
You will spend less time / money on taxis to Sosua.
FOD is just down / across the road from the resorts and the cabbies know it.
The girls are friendly and you could consider keeping a room there for a day or two at a time, for several visits.

I do not like brothels so FOD and BB do very little for me. I like GFE when I can get it. Sosua gets a broad spectrum of females. From hardcore to fresh off the bus, If you let the girl know what you want they will go with it. If you take your time and look for a girl who wants hang with you. This is a win win scenario and not hard to pull off.

I agree. The chicas at BB and FOD are not really like the escorts at Toronto or Chicago. Some are as sweets as an apple pie. It is kind of culture shock for me.
Also, I am shocked that many chicas (50%) are using their real names. It is kind of the biggest culture shock for me at BB and FOD. I doubt any hardcore working girl in Toronto or Chicago is using her real name.

You will get the GFE if you treat the chica like the girl friend. It is absolutely true. Few girls at BB can speak good English, and are intelligent enough to have a conversation during the dinner. It is really one of the best GFE that money can buy. I am a married man with three kids. So my fantasy of having an affair is kind of strangely fulfilled at BB.
However, if you know them too well, they will ask you to send money by western union whenever they talk to you in facebook and whatsapp. The bottom line is quite simple.
