Bangkok Reports

Okay, it wasn't really even a full night. Plane landed at 10:30 pm and I didn't get through customs until midnight. Changed $200 US and headed for the Taxi queue. Just my luck, taxi didn't speak English and the hotel didn't answer to give an address or directions, so the taxi dropped me off at a hotel with a similar name. I was staying at Asoke Suites, he dropped me at Sukhumvit Suites near the Asok station. I think he also overcharged me for the toll road (is it 25 baht or 75 baht?) he also charged me an extra 50 baht as an airport fee? The only plus was he took some back road where there were 15 to 20 working girls standing around. If he spoke English I would've asked him to stop so I could talk to them but I didn't get a chance. Just a mental note for next time. Anyone know what road it was? It was near Sukhumvit / Terminal 21 / Asok. Didn't find out I was at the wrong hotel until I tried to check in and the girl at the desk told me I'd have to drag my suitcase up the metro ramp and down to get to the other side of the street.

Night kept going downhill from there. I later found out Asoke Suites is a short time hotel? Explains why my shower still had water on the floor. Tiny hotel, small rooms, and my room was next to the trash bin. Not sure if the trash bin was causing the smell or the sewage smell was from the shower, but I do not recommend ASOKE Suites. Luckily I used reward points to get the room for free and it was only for a couple hours until my bus to Pattaya. Finally checked in around 1 am and went to Soi Cowboy. Maybe it was the jet lag, but it seemed like every girl was young, slender and beautiful. It could also be I had spent two weeks in Manila and Angeles and had become accustomed to the dark brown tan and my eyes and brain didn't believe what I was seeing. I was dragged into a bar (don't remember the name) by two girls in their early twenties. Both were very cute and wearing see thru lingerie. They ordered a bunch of shots and were groping me non-stop. I asked about the bar fine and that's when they told me they only drink and dance. That was an expensive 3000 baht Unhappy ending HJ. Went to another bar and by this time the lack of sleep and alcohol had the room spinning. Since I didn't have enough cash for a bar fine and I was too tired / wasted to get it up, I just grabbed two more girls for drinks and groping until the bar closed at 3 am? At least they didn't order shots so it was only around 2000 baht. Went back to my hotel and passed out.

That's not even the end of my troubles. I had booked the Bell Shuttle to Pattaya, but in my delirium I booked it for the day before. When the pick up time passed, I checked my ticket and finally realized it was for the wrong day. Great, another 400 baht wasted. Decided to check Uber, it was 1800 baht to Pattaya. Debated trying to make it the bus terminal before the 1 pm Bell bus left or catching the next one, but the way things were going I decided to just go with the sure thing. First driver said 4 minutes away then it turned in to 20 minutes so I canceled (there was a 100 baht cancellation charge.) Second driver said 6 minutes away, which turned into 20 minutes again. This time I just waited. Finally made it to Pattaya. Just felt like Karma wanted me to give away all my money so I tipped the driver 500 baht (also felt bad that he would have to drive all the way back to Bangkok, plus the tolls he paid coming and would pay going back).

Karma got one last kick in, my hotel wanted a 1000 baht deposit. I only had 500, luckily the guy at the desk took pity and took my 500. Rest of my report will be in the Pattaya section.

During my visit to Bangkok last year I was in Baccara. The girls were good and the stage arrangement as well. The view in 1st Floor where the girls dance topless is amazing but the ugliest ones go there, all good looking in ground floor stage. However upon asking a mamasan out Anal offering by any girl, she was clueless. She asked what what. Again and again and used words like Anal / A+ but she was completely blacked out about that, since there were some Japanese customers asking for her I let it go.

So now my question comes here is how do I get info about the girls in floor offering back door entry, I kind of explore my fantasies when goes to LOS. One could say to call a girl and ask upfront but don't want to spend much on LDs and neither want to become a cheap charlie by just asking them and not offering a drink. Is there any other sort of keyword or something they understand, sorry but I'm clueless. Toll road is 75 if you go to lower sukhumvit, I. E. Soi 4 etc.

If they take you to asoke there is only one toll station and it is the 25 baht.

Then it is a few back roads and / or asoke, depending where you need to be dropped.

The asoke route is typical when you negotiate an all in flat fare, like 3/400, including motorway. They cheat you by exiting after the 25 baht toll, the smart asses, even if you have to go to lower sukhumvit.

You mentally thought the fare included the 75 baht toll.

For this reason I always say "I pay toll".

Only the most expensive ones demand for 1800/2000: they are those taken by the people comparing with home prices.

How they handle the return to bkk is their problem, not yours.

Maybe your driver was returning back home in Pattaya.

So 2300 was 1000 far too much.

Saying this for those who do the due diligence and RTFF: they might be misguided by the rates you paid.

What you paid is your own money, of course, and decision.

I once thought took a taximeter from 12.30 till 5. 30 pm for a visit to the floating market some 30/40 km away, including his waiting time at destination and the drive back. He had pre- quoted "around 1500". Then he put the meter.

When he dropped me back at the hotel at 5. 30 or so, the meter read 1485.

Mind you: the waiting time was unpredictable.

Never the less he was very accurate on his prediction.

Bottom line, they are quite safe in virtually any way that you can imagine. Just use common sense smart safety precautions, as you'd use with prostitutes from a gogo, bar or anywhere else.

In terms of the comparative riskiness between them & other types of freelancers, street walkers anywhere are generally going to be somewhat more of a risk re STIs. IME Nana Hotel ladies of the street have been quite agreeable to going to a hospital or clinic to be tested re HIV etc, probably moreso than TGs who work at gogos, bars, etc.

There are at least 100 reasons why a girl might choose to work by Nana Hotel rather than at Thermae. For example, a belief that she will get more dates & make more money on the street. Or a preference to a quickie with English speaking customers rather than interacting with Japanese, Korean or Asian men at Thermae. Or she does not feel that she is the quality or type that such Asian men are attracted to. Or she finds Nana type customers more friendly or otherwise to her liking.

So Climax on Soi 11 will be gone. But they will find a new place to open again surely. And I am also certain The Ambassador has a new tenant, so I am not really worried.

Very reliable and very competitive pricing. I have been using his service for quite a few years and never once been let down on any front. Car, driver, comfort, timing, safety, price.

I guess all it takes is reading a few pages.

There are several things in your report here that could have easily been avoided. Taxi fares, coyote girls stiffing you (no pun intended) for drinks only, choice of hotel, etc.

To get to Thonglor from novotel at airport I tell them to avoid tolls and meter on. Rarely comes out to more than 300.

If you are lucky it cam be done for 300 flat to get to soi 11. That was a Sunday night and I can't recall if he used tolls or not. I tippedhim well.

RL.[/QUOTE]I'm pretty sure the toll was 25 baht. The taxi driver told me 75 baht and pocketed the extra 50. When he dropped me off he asked for an extra 50 baht on top as the airport toll. Lessons learned.

RL.[/QUOTE]Who needs this level of messing around when you have suitcases to save just a few Baht? Okay Fine if you have very low amounts of luggage. Unfortunately I tend to live in a suitcase or two, so I have a lot, including all the packets of coffee I am importing into Thailand. Important to have a good quality coffee every day. LOL. I also have some unusual luggage, which I can't mention, for fear someone will think, I know who that is.

I tend to agree with BionicM on this one. If I was staying on Soi 29 Mermaid, for example, can get off the tollway at exit 02-01 going to Phet-Uthai road to connect to Petchaburi road then enter back Sois 39 of Phrom Phong district. I avoid using nearby Asoke mostly which has worse traffic. Pay just one toll and Google Maps shows trip is 36 minutes right now 1 PM. At night or very early morning or a Sunday can be quicker.

Back Sois can be a disaster when peak hour for kids going to or from school, but it is school holidays right now. Just have to know your traffic or ask "Google Maps" for best route and times for alternative routes. Google Maps is my best friend.

If staying in the very low Sukhumvit Sois, then must pay extra tolls. Only worthwhile avoiding these tolls in extremely low traffic conditions, like midnight Sunday night. LOL.

Always need to weigh up, do we want the cheapest ride or shortest time to Hotel. I don't pay the 50 Baht at the airport. I am happy to have convenience of a taxi all the way provided not a rip off all in one price. Some want to save the most Baht, fine. I want to get to a girl in a big hurry most likely, or just to a bed for some sleep, if a bad time for a girl.

Taxi drivers can make bad mistakes on choice of route for the quickest time. Best to discuss route with them to make sure they intend a satisfactory method. Many want to exit tollway at Sukhumvit Soi 2 when an earlier exit can be better. Taxi wants to drive the more circuitous route to make more money on the meter, when the total time will be not too extended. Some want to circumnavigate Bangkok to clock up most possible kilometres.

This is Part II to my report below and the conclusion of my Spring Asia trip.

Day one: Finally caught the Bell Bus from Pattaya to Bangkok (370 Baht + 20 Baht for extra suitcase). Changed to a van and drop off at Radisson Blu. Easy check in and went to the pool to wind down and grab a snack. They have a burger with the bun dyed blue (I don't recommend it, the food coloring turned my #2's blue then green for the next couple days. Also, I asked for medium well because I don't trust their medium and it came out well done). The fries were good though. Went to Nana, since I'd tried Soi Cowboy a week earlier already. Bounced around the bars and enjoyed the topless views. Around 10 pm decided to take a peak into Annie's. Maybe it was the late hour or that it was Sunday, but the pickings were very slim. Handful of ladies (I say ladies because they were all 40+) and none were lookers (chubby). Walked back to Nana and picked a girl from one of the first floor go go's. Cute face, no babies, amazing body, early 20's, dark hair and pale skin (400 + 3000 for short time = 1 pop). Brought her back to my hotel, she seemed impressed (or maybe hopeful for a large tip. No pun intended). No ID check. Showered together. When she undressed, I fell in love. Amazing body. 500 Baht tip. When she left, I wanted to follow her back to Nana to barfine her again. No phone call from security when she left.

Day two: Changed the last of my currency ($500 USD) and decided to run some errands. Brought my phone from the US to see if someone in Thailand could fix it. Went to Dr. Phone near Terminal 21. They played with it but told me the same thing as in the US, they couldn't get the screen to work and would need to hold onto it for a few days. If it was just the screen, it would be 2700 baht to replace. Since I was leaving the next day I decided to pass. I had already purchased a replacement a year ago so I didn't really need this one, but if I could get it fixed for under $100 US, it would be worth it. I had also purchased a fake watch a year before that broke almost right away so I decided to see if I could find the guy who sold it to me. Found the guy in the exact same spot. He told me no warranties (HAHA) and then sent me to a watch repairer on Soi 8. 500 Baht and it kinda works like new. Stopped by Terminal 21 and picked up some more gifts. Massage from a really old Thai lady (really don't like massages from older ladies but I felt bad walking out after seeing her) and haircut, then back to my hotel to get ready for my last night. Started out at Soi Cowboy, but I didn't see any of the hotties from a week ago. First time in Crazy House, it was great. Lots of naked girls to flirt with while enjoying a beer. Checked out a couple more bars but they were pretty empty. One of the bars (forgot the name) had 10 real cute, young girls with great bodies, but they were already entertaining a table of guys. Decided to try Nana. Almost went back for the girl from the night before, but I forgot which bar she was in so I just wandered from bar to bar. Made a mental note to go to the second floor Mandarin for a girl I saw the night before, but she was already taken. Another cute girl was there but she seemed really shy, not making eye contact with anyone, so I decided to move along. Forgot the name of the bar (Yes, I'm terrible with names and Thai whisky doesn't help. Might be across from Mandarin or above it) but there was a really cute door girl, so I went it hoping she would follow. Unfortunately, she just held the curtain for me and stayed outside. Whenever the curtain opened though, she would peak in and smile at me. Saw another girl on the stage that caught my interest though. Great body, but I knew she was only there for the money. I liked her body enough to barfine her anyways (400 + 3000 for short time = 2 hours). The door girl peaked in around this time and pretended like she was disappointed that I hadn't waited for her. I jokingly told the mama buy one take one, which I guess in Thailand means take two. She immediately called the door girl and I had four girls trying to convince to do a threesome. I pushed the two girls together to see if they would kiss and make out, they lightly / begrudgingly pecked on the lips (bad sign). Since it was my last night and the door girl was the one I actually wanted, I decided okay. Asked for a discount, none was given (800 + 6000 for short time = 2 hours, I was hoping at least the time would go up but it stayed the same. In essence, I was paying more for less now. In my professional life, I would have walked from that deal, but). They then brought done another cute, young, slender girl and tried to convince me to take three girls. At this point, I was pretty much out of money so I said no. I wasn't sure if I could find an ATM and I wasn't sure if my card would even work or if it would go to fraud prevention. Taxi back to the hotel. The girls were talking in Thai the whole time. (Reminded me why I don't like threesomes). No security check, straight to the room. They showered together, nope, not in a sexy way. One in the bathtub, one in the shower. It was pretty much me taking turns with each girl and them complaining and talking in Thai. The door girl was really sweet and had an amazing body. Probably would have been better to have just gone with her. The door girl had a limp, so maybe some of you know who I'm talking about. The other girl had a hard attitude and was just there to get paid for doing as little as possible. She also didn't speak much English so it was like talking to a wall. Didn't have much cash left, so gave them 100 baht each for taxi fare and called it a night. No phone call from security when they left.

Day three: Walked to the Italian / Pizza place across from Terminal 21. Last time I was in Bangkok I remembered really enjoying the pizza. It wasn't as good this time around. Back to the hotel to check out. Ordered an Uber, said 6 minutes away and then it turned into 20 minutes. When he dropped me off, I thought I left my phone in the backseat (which I've done before), so I ended up running down the street to catch him. Right when I caught up with him, I remembered I'd put my phone in my bag. Acted like I found it in the backseat and said thanks and walked back to my suitcases. I don't have very good luck in Thailand, but that won't stop me from coming back.

Note: Not sure if many of you use Uber, but it is terrible in Bangkok. If you don't mind waiting at least 20 minutes for a ride, being able to put in the exact address of your destination so it's pre-programmed for your driver and knowing the price ahead of time without having to haggle are pluses. But your driver being able to find you is a different story though since the maps in Thailand aren't very accurate. If your hotel is in an alley or side street, the map doesn't show it correctly. Also, around noon, I think all the drivers go to lunch because the available cars disappear and the surge pricing kicks in.
