Have an inferiority complex and a chip on their shoulder. They used to rule the world, but now...
We certainly don't have have an inferiority complex towards the Yanks. Why should we? If we'd kept our hands on their country, we wouldn't have fucked it up the way that lot have. That's why they are now resorting to robbing the resources of other countries, ably assisted by our poodle of a Prime Minister. And then there's their army.....take away the technology and they couldn't fight their fuckin' way out of a paper bag. Even with it they spend more time killing their allies and civilians than the 'enemy'.....fuckwits.

I'm ex-military (Canadian) and served with the UN peace-keeping forces many years ago. I don't know if I'd go as far as saying the US military are incompetent. I think the regular foot soldier is as good as any in the world, when properly trained. But, unfortunately the US military today is stretched thin and largely made-up of weekend warriors who lack the necessary training or discipline to do the job required. The major problem with the US military has always been its poor leadership and faulty intelligence. Vietnam is a good example. There were very few good senior officers serving either at HQ or in the field and US intelligence never properly understood who they were fighting. Unfortunately, the same is true in Iraq. They have once again underestimated the situation and the 'enemy'.
However your comment about the killing of their allies reminds me of a story my father told about WWII. He was in the RCAF and the American airforce strafed his airfield killing his best friend and scores of other 'friendlies' because their recon units mistook the blue uniforms of the Canadian airforce for Luftwaffe uniforms despite the fact that the uniforms didn't look anything like Luftwaffe and the planes on the ground were obviously not German.
I do concede however, that man for man, the British remain probably the best military in the world, and the US would be more fucked than they already are if they didn't have then as allies in Iraq.

OTH,
Having served in Vietnam I feel compelled to add to my 2 cents to your last post despite the fact that this subject matter is way off topic for the Bangkok Reports thread. The primary problem in Vietnam was not the US military or it's leadership ...it was the US civilian politcal leadership (i.e. Johnson, Nixon et al). Same as today (i.e. Bush, Rumsfeld, et al).
Nice posting. Would tend to agree with you as far as talking about model quality and the clubs, but would have to say that much of the time, it all seems to be about luck and good timing.
Totally agree - lady luck plays her part. However if you spend enough time in BKK, which i assume you do, you can narrow down luck by establishing a business relationship with a select number of high-quality service providers. I normally go with my regular's, but always try at least 1 newby each month. Most of them i never come back to - such is luck, but sometimes you find a real gem.
I'm not a Brit, in fact not even a 'farang'. Having said that, there are bad apples from every country and walk of life. Certainly the Brits don't have a monopoly on it. I've seen loud mouth japanese, chinese, americans....we know who they are and stay away from them.
IMHO
Exactly, i'm surprised it took so long for someone to post something like this ?
I'm a Brit, i agree there are the thuggish, lager lout, football thug stereotypes, but as TerryT said, these people don't come here and suddenly become assholes, they just continue to act the way they do back home, not all Brits are like that, I left the Uk to get away from all of that shit.

This isn't the place for this discussion. So, I'll add one more thing and then move on to something more relevant to the thread.
I agree with you about civilian leadership then and now. But, I also don't think Westmoreland was a very good commander. He falsified casualty reports, was a lousy tactician, who caused untold numbers of unnecessary deaths and he totally underestimated the North Vietnamese from day 1.
But, maybe there's a military thread somewhere and we can continue this argument there.
Farang expats blending in (sort of) in all-Thai Neighborhoods and the possibilities
I have been spending a lot of time around Latprao and Bangkapi as my new gf-to-be lives in that area. It used to be that you would rarely, if ever see Farang in totally Thai neighborhoods like this. So, if you did, they would stick out like a sore thumb and would be subject to blatant staring and curiousity by the locals. But, I've spotted more and more Farang and Farang-Thai couples at Central Latprao, Carrefour Latprao and the Mall Bangkapi and I'd say that I stare at them far more than the Thais who seem oblivious to them all now. It's a very interesting area because it is a very eclectic mix of all types of Thais from southern Muslims to Bangkok HiSo Thai-Chinese, to Middle and working class Thais and transported Isaan farmers doing all manner of work, not to mention, Isaan girls working in shops, factories in the area as well as the entertainment venues. Of course nearby is the Thai go-go and entertainment area of Suthisan and there are plenty of massage parlors and karaoke places all around the area going out as far as Ramkhamhaeng, Sukhabi Ban 1-3, Srinakarin and Pattanakarn. Ramkhamhaeng Rd. has ABAC and Ramkhamhaeng University both of which are large and include international programs, now. So there are quite a few pool bars, pubs and discos on it sub-sois (soi Mahathai - Ram. 65, for example) because of all the students in the area. With the international programs, there are also quite a few Farang international students around making the area lot more Farang-friendly than it used to be. I used to live around there 9 years ago and now have been revisiting the place and have found lots more going on now. I haven't any specific places to recommend at this point, largely because I've been with the gf-in-waiting most of the time I've been around there. But, if you're adventurous, speak some Thai have a bit of time and patience and want to do a bit of exploring, I think it could be a very interesting area for mongering. Unlike Siam, MBK, or Emporium for example where picking up mostly well-heeled girls is largely an imposibility for most Farang, places like the Mall Bangkapi or Seacon Square offer more possibilities for the brave-hearted because of the more accessible lower middle-class and working-class girls who might be more receptive to having a Farang BF.
If I find out more specifics in my wanderings, I will post more later on.
I know lots of nice brits. But I agree, many of them too have some alcohol problem; -)
I am german (though not spending a lot of time at home), after all this elaboration about british guys, what do you think about germans?
Have not met a german in LOS yet as my stay there was only 2 weeks, so can not comment on germans in Thailand.
But have been to Germany for a 1 week vacation in past and most older Germans I met were friendly and helpful, but the younger germans mainly kept to themselves and sometimes very rude when you approach them with questions. They (younger generation )dont seem to like outsiders that dont speak german. IMHO

As far as how fucked up things are, take a look at your unemployment rate and your country's ability to exist without outside intervention, not to mention your own resource robbery while still an "empire".
Aside from simpletons like yourself, though, I like Brits very much. Most are civilized and decent.

My Dear Ralph
Please re-acquaint yourself with your sense of humour. Maybe Bumrungrad offers medical services for this?
Most of the 'national stereotype' comment recently posted in this thread has been tongue-in-cheek wind-up material, including mine.
btw, Coma Boy is English. Get the idea?
It must have gotten better then. Last time I went, which was a couple of years ago, there wasn't much quality available. The girls looked worn out and the place smelled like shit.
Eden has been discussed extensively on this forum, and all the angles offered are right in their own ways.
MFF threesomes aren't much more than a novelty for me. In LOS, I've done two freelance (sisters and twins, photos and reports can be found end 2004 early 2005 Photo and Bangkok threads) and two Eden. My freelance experiences were one mindblower (repeated twice) with the sisters and one mediocre with the twins. I have read many reports of disappointing threesomes with gogo, bar beer and FL girls here (often where the girls have lost their language skills back in the hotel room and reneged on the agreed services), along with several glowing reports.
The majority view of Eden (and a view with which I agree) is that pricing is above what you will pay a couple of FLs for a short-time, but that you will get a nailed-on porno threesome with two very hard-working and enthusiastic girls. The looks, figures and ages of the girls are variable, but what you see is what you get. If you don't like what's on offer you walk out, simple as. The pricing has no hidden extras, your flat fee covers all sexual services offered, and the girls don't backtrack.
Re: The bar. It's not a place where I'd like to hang around drinking, but it is clean and well-furnished. And it didn't smell bad on my visits. Maybe there are issues with the drains on Soi 7/1?

My Dear Terry
I will follow up on your kindly advice to seek humor therapy upon my next sex tourist foray to LOS. That is, if I can fit it into my tight mongering schedule.

OK - so somebody remind me what nationality has to do with finding "JIM"?
It's interesting that not all incidents of "lager-loutism" occur on the streets or bars... (some even happen in FORUMS) give it a rest guys

Having never been to England I shouldn't "paint with such a broad brush." Most of my dealings have been with the Brits around Sukhumvit. Some are great, educated ones mostly, and the rest are just pure assholes. I don't know why, perhaps because I am an American and a bit of an asshole myself. The worst are the English teachers, most of whom are just plain loosers.
America Love it or leave it! I do and I did.
