Hi Folks,
I'll be in Cartagena in August for about a week. I haven't mongered in years (I got married), but it looks like I might have the opportunity in Columbia.
I've read a few of the reports of distinction on the city. It seems reasonably safe, and there seems to be action to be had if you don't mind looking around.
I'm just wondering if anyone can suggest (for an English only speaker)
1) Where to stay
2) How to find safe, low stress p4p
Thanks folks!
Chris
Caracol Noticias just reported that Bill Clinton is in Colombia right now too although no traveling with his wife who is also in Colombia on official state business. The report showed him in Barranquilla and said from there he was going to Cartagena.
Good chance he'll be at LDV or Tu Candela tonight or tomorrow.
Have fun, Schwmm

Chris
For 1) get in touch with Juan Ventura, his phone number or email is somewhere on this site, he is very honest, speaks english and rents apartments in laguito and bocagrande. I was renting from juan one time and mi novia and I had rented several DVDs from blockbuster were going to spend a night in when the DVD player in the apartment wouldn't read the blockbuster discs. So she calls him at 1130pm and we walk across the street and the dude had unhooked his own DVD player to loan us for the night, a class guy in my book
2) just go to La dulce vida. I just got back from Cartagena and was there one night during this trip and it had over 70 girls inside. There were blondes, brunettes, short chicks, tall chicks, cosmetically enhanced chicks and natural ones, almost anything you were looking for, easily a dozen 8-9s in my book. And yes unfortunately a handful of 3's. How they get business I have no idea.
Just a couple of quick other suggestions
Cafe del mar- is a great place to have a drink or two in the early evening, gorgeous view and a great breeze which believe me you will appreciate with the hot, humid weather. Also occasionally some LDV girls before they go there.
Mr. Babilla- a great dance place if you find urself with a good GFE.

I have been renting from him for almost 10 years now and the guy is the best in Cartagena and a good person to boot. I rarely monger anymore in Cartagena as I have regular chicas off the fucking charts that fly in to visit me. This time one from Monteria and one from Valledupar bused themselves in for a 4 day fuckfest. I went to Cafe Del mar and is a great place, abiet expensive, but great. LDV was rocking and there were not too many tourists in town, so it would have been a buyers market. Just get in touch with Juan and have a great time.
Please give us some insight on this please?
I personally know of 3 people who have been ripped off by this company on apartments. Go with Juan Ventura, Mery Salence, or Dave Jones if you are looking for an apartment, or search on Craigslist Colombia. solindias advertises there as well.
Juan Ventura http://www.venpro.net/fotosapartamentos/index.htm and itts@excite.com

If I can intercend here i was was down in in Cartagena in June and used Sol de Indias and very happy. The place is not run by Colombian's my friend. The Condo was spotless and the staff was was extremelty professional run by lawyers. Bro they a fairly large sophisticated property managment firm. Look at the main website. Why would anyone be that stupid to try to rip anyone for a couple of bucks. Mr 69 even you would be that stupid. Even you so hot against someone doing advertising that why are you doing it. We are all adults and can make our decisions and do not need anything to preach bullshit.
I'll be making my first trip to Colombia late next week and will be in Cartagena from 7/8 - 7/13.
If you're interested in hanging out and don't mind a newb wingman, PM me your contact info.
Sorry to post here since there is no thread for Cartagena restaurants. Any restaurants serving decent lobsters (or fish in general) with cheap/reasonable prices? Gracias!

I arrive CTG Wednesday mid-afternoon. I am a nice European guy around 50 who just loves Colombian Cartagena culture and the local delights. Pls Email me because I have not signed up for full membership yet.

Then we can compare notes.
Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive day-casa. Sort of Medellin style 30-50K pesos for 30 min. I have been to CTG several times before but have not really been able to find a MDE style place. Day Casa with Centro Historico location would be great. New to this forum but will start contributing as soon as I accumulate valuable information to share.

Gracias!
Since it is difficult to judge what others perceive as cheap/reasonable, I cannot comment on prices. However, if you have a young lady to take to dinner, you should go to La Langusta which is located just north and outside of the walled city.
They prepare lobster several different ways and comes with a crab meat appetizer. Price wise, it may cost 25 - 30 dollars for a meal. This is of course excluding drinks.
It has been a year since I was last there, so prices may varie.
He does like to use the term "BRO".
Unfortunately I had already given my deposit $$ to him when he came along here on ISG. So I had to find out the hard way I guess. Plain & simple hes just not an honest guy. He does his dealings in Canada, then has 2 locals handle things for him in Cartagena.
He tells me, "Lizzette will be handling things for you when you arrive" I ask if she speaks English since my espanol is limited, He says, "Oh yea, no problem" Well she didn't even know one word of english. That just started things off bad for me, because I don't like to be lied to. It was just downhill from there. Its a nice building, but his apt. Is average, but he will tell you its pristine. Its waaay over priced, $150. 00 or 300, 000 COP per night! If he had everything right there, such as hot water, it would be worth maybe $90. 00 a night.
The worst was they were doing construction in the apt. Below me, using sledehammers to bust up concrete from 8 am through the entire day, for 4 days straight. All I heard was basically it wasnt his problem, and that it would stop after my first day there. I should have been told this beforehand so I would have had the choice to stay or go. But I found out after he already had my money, which by the way had to be cash only. I could go on & on, from the toilet that had no seat or lid, and didn't work half the time.
I would definitely not recommend his business to anyone
It is very obvious with one post that you are Vincent55, furthermore, it is obvious with your use of the work "bro", as it is not a common word used on the forum here, and lo and behold we see both Col Rider and Vincent55 using it. In addition you were downgrading the appearance of the websites of Juan Ventura and Dave Jones, and here you are once again bragging about how great yours is, which again clearly shows your postings are very similar in appearance.
Maybe if you reimburse the clients you ripped off, I will shut my mouth, but until then, you can be rest assured, I will do everything in my power to make sure you will never have the opportunity to steal from another client again.
