I am in town for a couple days and staying at the Mandarin. Can you guys help point me in the right direction? I live in China but my Chinese is horrible.

i choose the 750 rmb version. the wet area is probably the best i've ever seen in shanghai (only topped by a realy top-of-the-line spa in beijing) clean, fresh, big pool with jet-streams. clean, fresh smelling showers with jets. a bubble bath that didn't look like someone had masturbated in it. upto then a big +++
i was directed up the stairs and into a clean waiting area and offered a drink. a mommy turned up with 30 little lasses in tow. each dressed differently: some in uniforms, some in beach-style pants and tops. the girls introduced themselves one by one and (with mommy's entheusiasm helping here) i had a chitchat with each of the girls. tough choise (for the first time!) about 5 girls stood out to my liking. ofcourse mommy proposed me to take 2 (no thanks). after a bit i made my choise and off we went into a clean (a bit small) hotel-room-like room. 90 minutes and 5 pops later the telephone rang and it was time to leave. exchanged telephone numbers with my lady and we walked hand-in-hand back to the stairs down.

Can't remember who called whom, in some saunas they have a clock in the room or the girl brings a clock. Time starts only to count after they come back to the room with their bag of tricks though, then they call the reception to say they start or something. I took a few trips, so please excuse the length. Thank you to all the posters here who posted up detailed reports in Shanghai. Hope this contributes in some way back to you guys. Finally, my Chinese is pretty good so let me know if you guys need help with characters, translations, etc.
1. Went to Chengjiaqiao first in the evening. Took the fork that goes west, Jinhui Lu, and encountered a group of BBSes tucked into the alleys. As another poster mentioned, this area is somewhat dark and this specific alley was obviously a lower class residential area, but I am very certain they are used to clients and didn't pay me any attention despite the fact that I very likely stood out. Actually they weren't even BBSes, just brightly lit rooms with couches and WGs sitting on them. The actual bedrooms were off in a separate alley about 20m away. Entrance to bedrooms was only through a locked door, to which only the WGs had keys. I thought the setup was fairly clever as if there were any LE raids, you'd be separate from the BBS venue itself. Plus they had what I realized later were lookouts all over the street. Definitely made this more viable as you have some peace of mind.
Was very impressed by the selection here. Each BBS had between 2 to 7 WGs each, and they ranged from 5s to 8s. At least half were early 20s. Just FS is 150, FS + BBBJ is 200. Didn't bother negotiating. Chose a girl and was told she did FS only, no BJ. Said it was ok, and embarrassingly I couldn't get it up without a BJ first. I blame jetlag! Not too impressed, best I saw was maybe a 5 or 6 and probably late 20s. Instead I took a taxi to Southern. Directions are exactly as described here, and the Google Maps location is 100% accurate.
Southern during the Saturday was quite busy. Guys coming in and out at regular intervals. The guys at the front desk realized it was my first time and told me the price was 800. I said sure and was whisked inside. This was my first time in a sauna, and I was really impressed. Guys helping you along the way with great service. Chatted with a few of them while changing (I thought a bit awkward but typical procedure for them, I guess) , and they were really quite friendly. I know I'm here for other things, but the level of service was like they were running a high class restaurant or a legitimate MP. Waited just a few minutes with a drink and TV before I was brought to the fishbowl where there were a couple other guys looking.
About 20 girls in the line up. I thought Chengjiaqiao was impressive the other night, but this just floored me. The lineup had a minimum of 6, up to a few 9s, all 20s in age. Chose a 21yo from Hunan, really cute face (9/10) , medium height, skinny body (8. 5/10). A bit of a feisty personality too. She's only been in Shanghai for 2 months, and made a comment about how large junior was (surprising as I am quite average). Did the routine as has been described here. Shower, soapy massage, strange water mouth thing, then BBBJ and FS. Asked to finish with BBBJ. Again no CIM, so finished by HJ. Service was good, though I assume that is pretty standard fare for saunas. Definitely would recommend Southern.
3. Last trip, went out to Chengjiaqiao again in the early evening. Went directly to the alleyway off Jinhui Lu. The shop I went to last time was closed. Later one of the papasans told me most of the shops closed for dinner. Selection was still great though, around 4 BBSes were still open with a selection of 2-5 WGs each. I chose a 7 from Jiangsu. 21yo who hasn't been doing this long. FS with BBBJ for 200, standard price as with all the shops here. BBBJ was short with this girl and she rushed me through all of the FS. I wanted to finish with BBBJ, and she was only willing to do a few minutes before switching to a HJ. But with some resting she was able to do enough BBBJ and finished with HJ (no CIM either). Another nearby place, similar pricing, is on Yuyuan Road just west of Wanhangdu Road. Up a stairway. Somewhat nicer overall. Showers are smaller, water pressure less, but cleaner and nicer than the place on Wuning / Wanhangdu. I've had several massages here, and been very happy with the results.
