Hmmm, buddy and I had to relocate seats last week while in Patpong because of smoking Dancers in one of the corners and smoking Japanese guys in the other.

I've awoken after many a night in Patpong only to smell my shirts and gag at the stench of cigarettes.

So someone in BKK is smoking a lot more than just their customers ...

Meh, maybe people only complain about those things they think they can change. Maybe people complain about those things that can make their lives a little more enjoyable, with less regard to whether they are increasing or decreasing their life expectancy.

The Pro,

I agree with the accessments between fumes from vehicles and smoking, but to say that those expressing their views are " arse / idiot " is a pretty one dimension dementia point of view which one can say about your point of view regarding vehicles fumes but no one has gone so far as to make any reference to a personal attack!

See! I do care about smoking but in Thailand it is a loosing battle! there is a law ( we Farangs didn't create ) but isn't enforce so my thinking is why complain about what I can't change! In the States, we have the same law which is enforce that is the difference!

Another point is I believe there is some kind of law for excessive fumes in Thailand for vehicles that is also not enforce! that might account for all the " so much car lorry and bus fumes " in my opinion it would be dumb of someone to make such a comparison since both problems are dangerous to ones health. To me the difference is the ability to get away from the smoke in a club confinement than being out in the open. A smaller area doesn't mean it is a smaller problem.

To each his own but I'm not going to come out and say that someone else point of view that I don't agree with is a " total arse, dumb and a idiot " personally I think it is over the top!

Quoting allows the remarks to be highlighted so that others can reference sometimes just how stupid these remarks are and most times they are quoted because they are good! In this particular case it doesn't even meet a standard therefore it has to be quoted not once but over and over again so that others can identify the individual that is writing such nonsense!

Not sure if anyone can help, but for various reasons I do not want to book a taxi in advance and prefer to just turn up at the BKK airport and find a taxi there and then to take me to Hua Hin.

I have done this before for Pattaya and there was no problem, there are plenty of touts around and I speak some Thai words and can haggle hard. In fact I found a good deal, cheaper than booking in advance and a nice car.

The thing is I just don't know if they are touts around that are prepared to go to Hua Hin, it's a long way and not much chance of a return fare, so it's different to Pattaya.

Anyone knows if there are taxis for Hua Hin in the aiport without booking in advance and also how much they offer for a one way trip... ?

Although Hua Hin is not as popular as Pattayia, you should be able to find someone at the airport ready to take you there during normal working hours. I would imagine you would pay 2,000 plus (Hua Hin is on the coast on the other side of BKK). Not as cheap as Pattaya but that is because the driver needs to be sure he will get a return journey and he will not be as sure of that in Hua Hin. You could have problems if you arrive late evening as the drivers will assume that there is no chance of a return journey to Bangkok.

I did the trip in June, I know you don't want to prebook but I used Taxicall 2000baht and excellent service. Easy to find on the net. I wouldn't bother wasting my time at the airport trying to negotiate a fare for the same price, you could waste upto an hour instead of being half way there.

Thanks for the info, I would arrive 6am and have to wait a while for one of my regulars to join me. It would be a waste of time to try and estimate when she will turn up ! So I can't really book ahead....

I won't be looking for any discount from 2k, just make sure there is one when we want to take off.
