Yes barfines have gone up a tad but have been around the same since Tier pricing came in 2016/2017. Customer drink prices have gone up a touch in that period but nothing that should be a deterrent. The big jump has been the prices of lady drinks but that is not a mandatory requirement to barfine a girl unless the girl has mistaken you as a chump, asking you to buy her 5 or 10 drinks before she can leave the bar.

Do as the Japanese and Koreans do. Walk into a gogo bar, circle the stage a few times making it clearly obvious that you are staring at the girls as your victim for the night, point at the girl you want, and have the mamasan grovel over you to collect the barfine.

Fact is pinup / xs destroyed the business with their "new" approach in higher salaries etc. And yeah with less customers its time to cut back in salaries so the drinking prices can go back <200 THB and same for barfines. That would be a reason for customers to come back.

But, some marginal gogos will go under, as well.

Pattaya gogo barfines have historically been notably more expensive than BKK barfines. It's why some guys say BKK gogo bars are better. Bottom line it all comes down to money for many guys on here. They rate how good looking a girl is by how cheap they are. Go figure.

Not sure which year you mean by historically but imo Happy a Gogo was not second tier for gogo bars, especially up to early 2018 or so. Happy killed itself when they combined Happy and Beach Club. Such an awkward layout and many of the young Beach Club girls left. Beach Club and Nui 2 were my hidden gems back then. Happy was also an outlier for low barfines. It was 600 or 800 baht in 2017 when other gogo bars were already 2000 baht.

I am not sure if the mamasans are skimming off the top because the barfine a used to get progressively lower as the night went on but maybe that has changed. Probably love to just make their money from drinks and not from 3-5 bar fines per day. Probably most.
