Just a few numbers published last week regardings prostitution in Czech Republic :

1. About 12 years ago. 60 % of the clients were foreigners and 40 % were Czechs. Today only 30 % of the clients are foreigners and 70 % are Czechs.

2. In 1999, 2 100 000 clients visited and paid for sexual services in privates. Ten years later more than 2 700 000 clients visited and paid for sexual services in privates.

3. In 1999, almost 500 000 clients bought sexual services in the street! Today only 40 000 clients (per year) are buying sexual services in the street.

4. The average number of clients per year for one prostitute in Czech Republic was 610 in 1999, today "only" 460 clients per year.

5. About South Moravia :

- 70 % of the prostitutes are working in night clubs. 25 % in privates and 5 % in the street.

- There is currently 48 night clubs in South Moravia and about 150 privates.

- In addition to Czech / moravian girls, significant number of girls from Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria can be found in the border areas.

- Most of the students are offering sexual services in other cities than their hometown otherwise they prefer to work in privates or escorting than in night clubs.

6. About Prague :

- 81 % of the prostitutes are working in night clubs. 5 % in privates and 6 % in the street. (don't know were dispeared the remaining 8 % ? Escort?)

- The biggest night clubs can be found in Prague 1 district (city centre). I guess they are talking about Darling and Atlas. K5 club is located in Prague 2 district but very close to city centre. Most of the street girls are offering their services in the centre and in Prague 2 district.

- 60 % of the prostitutes are single (in fact you should read : they are not married but many have a boyfriend).10 % are married and 12 % are divorced (remaining 18 % didn't answered).

7. About customers :

- 50 % of the clients are single men and 50 % are married men.

- Most of the foreign tourists customers in Prague city centre are coming from UK and Italy. In South Moravia from Austria.

- Part of the clients (regular customers) are coming back to the same girl.

I don't know about any other languages but 2 of the girls I was with spoke good English. 2 spoke basic English and 1 didn't speak English at all.

In addition to the stats, they also published interviews of a few girls (including a student working at K5 Relax Club in Prague and another one working at Moulin Rouge in Brno).
