Fortunately some of us don't have to convert to USD.
The Australian dollar is so strong now it will soon be equal to a USD.

The following will be my experiences, thoughts and impressions of Thailand and some good hints for newbie’s like me with stuff that is not included in most of the reports. I hope you enjoy them.

Well this is my first trip to the LOS and I am lucky enough to be able to come for 1 month.

1st part of my trip 4 days in Bangkok.

I stayed at the majestic suites on Sukumvit between Soi 4 and Soi 6. Great location and great service, 5 min walk to Nana Plaza and with no "guest fees" on top of that. The room I got was clean but small, but for 1242b per night with a free breakfast I was not complaining. I would stay there again no problem but just make sure your room faces the street because the other side is "Nana Plaza" so you get all the boum-boum of the music bouncing off you windows and walls. I was on the street side.

As a newbie I did all the tourist things: Jade Buddha, standing Buddha, leaning Buddha, lucky Buddha, river boat ride, the golden mountain, the grand palace and more stuff that I can remember and all good places to visit at least 1 time. I do not regret going to all those places but 1 time is enough. If you have never seen these places than it’s worth it, all except for the floating market. You can avoid that one I thought it was boring as hell.

Some tips for you newbies:

1-In that area (Nana Plaza) the best place to exchange you money is at the UOB place on Soi 3, 50 feet from Sukumvit.

2-They give better rates if you have traveler’s checks so if you are like me and you financial institution at home gives you free travellers checks then take them.

Now some say the difference is not worth the effort but if you look at it this way. I got 250b more on a 500$ exchange that is all my cell phone usage needs in Thailand. Just because I walked 50 extra feet. Think about it.

Nana Plaza:

Man what a place. Anything you want you can get there. Stunners, Ladyboys, freelancers, anal, GS, duos and more. I was there every night I was in Bangkok (will do Soi cowboy on my 2nd stay). The place to go right now is "Rainbow 4". Man this place rocks. 200 girls from 6s to 10s, just pick and choose the one you like and if after 1 drink you hit it off than off you go. 5 min walk and that’s it.

Yes of course it is possible, especially at closing time, but in my experience there are very few "stunners" still around near to closing time.
