I think what it comes down to is the simple fact that the entire scene is just not that fun anymore. And no, that's not a function of age. When I was in my mid 30's, the dudes in their 50's and 60's were having just as much fun as I was. Now instead of fun; it's a lot of work. And that defeats the purpose IMHO.

Something went wrong. Hardly do Oilies now. The standard of girls looks seemed to decline. Find a girl, she doesn't last. Now I am struggling to have fun in bars any more. Overrun by surgeries, Coyotes and Ladyboys. Many bars overrun by Asians (very few Farangs liking the place any more). If I do have fun it is going to cost a lot. So finally I feel I must gradually moving into semi-retirement from mongering. Lost the appetite to go look for exciting new girls.
I mean I go to Billboard recently and see 3 hot girls. In old days I would have felt very positive and just go for it. Now feel like what are my chances of a great time? More likely I will waste the time and money. So much easier to just go and get known girls.

There is little doubt in my mind that the golden era was 20 to 40 years ago, before smartphones, before surgeries everywhere, before the Japanese take over of Bangkok mongering for foreigners, before the prevalence of young girls getting fat on junk food. [/QUOTE]Very interesting question this one. Just been 5 days in Pattaya and the picture is clear; Walking street is taken over by Asian customers. Very few farangs spotted in the top bars. Places like Windmill is the exception. The Farang has moved to LK Metro area. This area is really booming and gives high hopes for a continuation of what is lost in walking street. Walking street go-gos are almost all Koreans and Japanese these days. But in my opinion it is no problem; the go-gos and freelance standard around LK Metro is alive and well. Plenty of sexy girls and a good selection for all. In 5 days I only spotted 5 or 6 Koreans here, the rest is all farang. It is a great area and now much more interesting than WS area. For Bangkok it is a more mixed scene of course. Quite different from Pattaya.
