just back from a week-end in salvador.

both aeroclube and fashion clube are temporarily close: apparently, along with other business of similar kind, they chose carnaval time to do some renovation. i went to a club called “happy news” on friday around 3am, and it was a big mistake: almost empty and only one garota still up for grabs, but it may have been because it was late.

on saturday i went to relexnightbar ([url]www.relexbarnight.com[/url]) which i quite liked: the place is new and clean, by 1,30am the girl to guy ratio was 2 to 1 with about 10 girls available, two of whom deserved a 9. rates are fixed: 50 blr to get in, 150 for the girl, 50 for a room for one hour. only negative note was the girl wouldn’t let me pop more than once unless i paid an extra. make sure you print a copy of the map to get there from the web site because is a new joint and taxi drivers don’t know about it.

after dinner in pelourinho i was being watched and followed by so many gdp with predator eyes that i thought i was going to be raped right then and there. i also had dinner in bambara, which i recommend only if you are past 50: there were a few piriguetes but didn’t even consider me, looking instead to hook up with older guys.

in piata beach i was offered girls’ company right and left by the barracas’ waiters, but beside that there wasn’t all that action i had come to expect from what i had been told about. instead, i witness a nasty near-lynching of 20 to 1 with broken bottles: it spilled fom the street on the beach and ended up among families and kids.
this past week-end the little barra beach was definitely the place to go: plenty of gdp, most of which black, with 3 or 4 stunners. just show up before 2pm to avoid all the best girls being taken. i was also positively impressed by the service of the waiters there. despite my little knowledge of the city, i agree with some previous reports that you should chose barra as your base of operations. overall i have to say i was a little underwhelmed by salvador, but a)-i was coming from porto seguro where i had the time of my life, and b)- i think the city was feeling the aftereffects of carnaval and wasn’t at its best.

This is a short report about my first trip to Salvador.
I spent 4 days in Salvador (April1-4), which is great for culture but bad for mongering. Had a guide (Arlindo, recommended by Johny Hit & Run)) who is a taxista and knows all of the places to go.
Missed Santissimo on Monday, which is THE place for garotas in Salvador. Tuesday night the Pelourhino district has cafes, restaurants, live music, and clubs. Saw a few cuties that were approachable, but not as many people as usual because of rain. Wednesday the Aeroclube, huge restaurant with white table cloths, and dance floor, with pros and non-pros (although very limited the night that I went). Also went to a strip club (Eros). This is the closes I got to a Rio type atmosphere. Lots of women. R50 entry fee, R50 exit fee for girls and whatever you negotiate with the girl (R150-R200). A Capi was R8, but got a second one for no charge. Thursday night went to a local club for samba and pagode (the name was something... Ntude). Younger crowd, good music, plenty of single women. Opportunity is there. I think entry was R10.
In Salvador YOU MUST SPEAK PORT! Even Arlindo does not speak english.
Went to a great open air restaurant near Praia da Ribeiro called Bogary. Great view, great food, cold beer, and a flat screen TV showing concert footage.
As far as the cultural aspect of the trip, I took over 260 pics! One day I will return and my second trip will be better.

PS My apartment was around the corner from Barra Shopping Mall. I used the cambio (1st floor) in the mall to exchange money. Not sure if it was the best rate but VERY safe. There is a guard (might be a real cop) in the cambio. You will also need either your passport or a copy.

Sao Paulo along with Thailand (both Bangkok and Pattaya) are my favorite mongering destinations. Over the years, I have had a quite a few excellent sessions with garotas from Bahia during my trips to Sao Paulo. On a recent trip to Sao Paulo, I decided to make a side trip up to Salvador to check out the source. GOL had a internet sale going on and offered a RT ticket for 289R including all taxes and fees. I jumped on it. Here are my observations.

Hotel

I stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Rio Vermello. This place was clean and offered a good basic set-up for a monger. No problems bringing a garota in at night, close to an internet cafe, and near a local bus stop. I paid 125R per night.

Restaurant

My favorite was Villas Churrascaria. I went here several times and dinner ran around 35R with one drink. It is located Av. Otavio Mangabeira 2326. I took the bus from the hotel up and back each time I went. It is couple of stops before the Aeroclube.

Clubs

It was low season and the clubs were not stocked with as many girls as the summer.

1. Free Night

The night I went there were only 8 or 9 garotas none that I wanted to do. I talked to a few and they were all asking for 200R for 2 hours in the hotel. I am sure this is the sucker price and could be neg. down to 150R or maybe less. Entrance fee was 40R and incl. 1 beer. Exit fee to take out a girl is 50R to the club.

2. VIP Club

This club had about 15 garotas the night I went. They had a good strip show every hour. There were several garotas in my doable range here. The problem was that they sat, drank, and danced with some local guys for several hours. They were basically out of play. I didnt see them do any programs. Entrance fee was 40R, no drinks included. Take out fee to club is 50R. I talked to several garotas. They were offering a sucker price of 200R for 2 hours in the hotel. I am pretty sure the real price is around 150R.

3. Eros

I can highly recommend this club. The nights I went here, there were 30-50 garotas. A number were in my doable range. There are strip shows at frequent intervals. I took 2 girls out of this club on different nights. They both asked for 200R for 2 hours in the hotel, but took my 150R offer after a little discussion. I neg. DFK and BBBJ before leaving the club. They both were good performers in the hotel. Entrance fee was 40R and no drinks were included. The exit fee to the club was 50R to the club.

Other Items

Taxi fees can really add up. Taxis to the Centro Historical district run 20R to 30R each way. The clubs ran 10R - 20R early in the evening. Later in the evening the drivers wanted more, but it can be neg. down a little. The bus system is safe and easy to learn and only costs 2R for the basic bus and 4R for the executive bus.

The beaches were dead. The temps during the day were in the low - mid 80s and a night around 70. Good beach weather to me, but not the locals. I went to the hooker beach (Barra Beach), but there was no action. There were only a few tourists around, it is summer in Europe and North America.

There were many black girls around, especially in the center part of the city. However, in the high end clubs mentioned above there were only a few working.

I always felt safe walking around and using the bus system during the day and evening. In the evening, I would use the bus system until around 9:30 or 10 and then use taxis after that.

Final Observations

I enjoyed my time in Salvador for a few days. The city is very historical and quite beautiful. I am glad that I made the trip up as a break from the huge scene in Sao Paulo. I liked Eros and had a good time in and out of the club with a few of the garotas. I would not go in the off season again. I think a much better time could had duing the high season.

I was there in April and my taxista (Arlindo) told me that it is THE place to go for garotas!

I was there on Monday - it is the place. At least on Monday. On Friday I also checked in and there were only couples.

Just returned from Salvador, so time for an update on the monger-scene in this lovely city.

First of all I was lucky to be there during the period prior to the Sao Joao festival. The Bahia government is currently investing lots of money to promote their cultural heritage, of which ‘forro’ music is an important part. In other words 4 days a week, on 2 big and 3 smaller stages life bands perform in the historic centre of Pelhourinho nearly the whole month of June. Since ‘forro’ is very popular in the Nord-east of Brazil + free entrance makes that many people from the favellas come to party. There are plenty of policemen to keep the crowds under control so no worries on your safety. Most of the ‘collateros’ are collecting empty beer cans, so they’re not hassling you either. And similar to carnival, lots of girls, both GDP’s and non-pro’s are in search for funds to finance their party: I’d say ideal for mongering.

As earlier said Casquina de Siri is recently reopened under its new name Santissima Bahia: I counted over 50 GDP’s on a Monday evening, when there is a life band performing and the girls don’t need to pay for an entrance fee: all kind of girls varying from 5 to an exceptional 9. The owner of Santissima has another renowned club named ‘Bombarra’. This is opposite of former Aeroclube and any taxi driver knows this spot. Most of the girls from Santissima hang out here on other weekdays. One important note: girls are not allowed to move from their table to yours as the club is frequented by families as well and the owner doesn’t want to offend those families. Of course Salvador has some ‘boates’ as well but I’m not so much into these hardcore girls.

Salvador remains one of my top destinations, mainly for the very relaxed and friendly Bahian atmosphere, and like any other place in Brasil, girls are widely available.
