I've just read the last year or so of reports and though much good information (LDV is the place to go; prices are high, but so is quality) I didn't find the information I was looking for.
Are there any decent hotels within reasonable walking distance of LDV that are guest friendly? I guess a lot of punters use rented condos, but since this will be my first CTG visit and my Spanish is all but nonexistent, I'd like to keep it simple. I don't need a 5* place, but don't want to step on cockroaches either.
Any recommendations? Thanks.

do yourself a favor. contact juan ventura; his info is all over this site. he will hook you up with a beachside condo for $75 per night. you will have your own apartment with pool etc. juan speaks perfect english and is very accomodating. the condos are alway very chica friendly. in fact the guard at my building was able to point out that the chica that i had was **** and saved me from a world of shit. my unit was a 5 minute walk from ldv with a private beach and pool.
feel free to pm me for details.
Definitely contact Juan, speaking spanish has nothing to do with it. Get a condo and you cant go wrong. If you need any tips on getting from the airport to Laguita, and checking in just PM me. I speak virtually no espanol and never had a problem.
Good Luck!

I haven't stayed in Mirador however. It may be roach free because it is new not sure.

I have been staying in Laquito apartments for seven years and have never seen a cockroach.
Thanks to all those who told me where the ATM's were located at the airport. The update on their locations was appreciated. I am booked my trip and am counting down the days to December.
One more inquiry. I have never been there in December and I know it is the transition month from the rainy season to a less rainy season. I am not overly concerned about the weather, but I am unsure if it is a good time for the chicas.
Does anyone know the college schedule in Colombia? I would like to know if the girls will be in school or on vacation on the beach and available for some freelancing in early December. I know it is a catholic country and I assume they all run home over the holidays, but I was hoping some might be looking for a little extra Christmas money in early December and on the prowl. Any of you with experience in Cartagena during early December please give me your insight.

It has never been a deal breaker for me and I've spent months in some of them.
Though I appreciate all the recommendations on renting an apartment, I'd prefer a hotel, even if it costs more. Having never visited CTG before and having little fluency in Spanish, I'd be more comfortable at a reasonably decent hotel. Any recommendations? I booked my airfare yesterday and would like the accommodations sorted.
And please don't cast unfair aspersions on our former governor--after all he's only been convicted of one felony--so far.
Thanks
Hi,

Thanks
If that's the penthouse, with two-levels, small hottub on top floor, myself and wingman stayed there early September. Good unit.
I was not going to waste my time posting when I read his post, but since you responded I will chip in, and that is I have been in Cartagena no less than 20 times since 2004, and have never seen them either, with the exception being when I visited a friend in the Conquistador. I think he is full of bolony/bologna.
Black Hawk69, If your going to insult another member and call him a liar, it is more effective ( and noble ) if you address that poster directly with your thoughts, instead of a coy lateral attack. Just saying.
Hello, Everyone,
I have gone way back through many reports looking for Juan's contact info and have found several different email addresses. I am traveling to CTG on 10-14 and am looking for a very nice, well located place to stay. If anyone has his number and could send it to me I would be very appreciative. If anyone will be there during that time and would like to grab a drink, please PM me.
Thanks in advance
I am going to be in Cartagena for the month of December and I am looking to rent a Apartment for one month. I would also consider sharing a apartment with someone else. I have been to Cartagena 12 times and also going to Medellin for two months starting Jan 1st until March 1st. Please let me know if anyone has a lead on a apartment in either city.
Thanks Randy
