I think Putin stuck to his guns and gave very little, if anything away. This 30 day ceasefire on ENERGY infrastructure means very little. So it means in essence that for 30 days, Russia will not attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, right? Well, anyone that has been following the Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure targets (like I have) would know that the Russians usually carry out 1 attack each month. And the last one was a few days before this ceasefire was agreed upon. So this ceasefire means very little. And yes, this may lead to somewhere IF western aid and intelligence is stopped.

Russia will never ever accept a Ukraine that is not neutral. If you have been watching the news, Trump and his team have already said Ukraine will never join NATO so that sticking point appears to have been settled between the 2 great powers here (USA and Russia). Ukraine will just be informed of their decisions.

If Trump is really serious about ending this and it does look like he is, if he cuts off ALL AID to Ukraine, makes the territorial concessions plus neutrality for Ukraine that the Russians are demanding, then I think there is a chance for the war ending this year. The Euros can't do dick without American support.

The Russian press is highly choreographed with official statements. The recent call was audio only and the longest in history for 2 hours and 28 minutes. Most of it is dark matter, that is topics that were not for the press. Diplomacy like money likes privacy. The end of the war as for now is far away. As we like to say, the caravan moves on while dogs are barking. There is a confusion sometimes between the US / Russia dialogue and the war in Ukraine. Clearly the first is more important and the war is just an offspring of the long term deterioration. Obviously, the relationship between the US and the RF is a broader topic, more technical and opaque so we see fewer guests and journalists talk about it.

30 days ceasefire may come to fruition and the technical talks in Jidda will resume on the 23rd of March. We need the Ukrainian mobilization to stop as it will be much easier to mobilize during the ceasefire because of lesser perception risk and higher wages all bankrolled by the West. I expect the period to cover the Orthodox Easter into first 2 weeks of May. Military aid should stop. Sharing of intelligence has never stopped, don't be gullible.

We need a neutral non-nuclear Ukraine with all issues permanently resolved and all hostilities ended. I would prefer Russian guarantees only as we have now with Belarus.

You can also see how top to bottom approach may work and draw a plan on a napkin. When you will draw it visually you will see that Ukraine has to call the elections and amend its constitution.
