What is the world coming to?
Careful lads-that beautiful flight attendant may not be what she seems.
AM
The industry has always attracted a fair number of gays, so no real surprise here.
Attractive women are my first choice of course (Japanese in business class are best). But when it comes to service I think I'd prefer an attractive 22 yr old LB or even a gay guy over the evil looks I get from harried, overweight. 60+ American women with a bad attitudes that seem to fill out the ranks of Delta / UAL etc.

The scariest stews I've ever come across were for El Al years ago during the Gulf Wars. They looked and acted like they wrestle bears before breakfast.

It is a "serving" job and some of them like that. They are good at "waiter service" tasks.
There is no repeated customers that they might make feel uncomfortable if seeing each day, due to shift rotations. IE people uncomfortable with the kind would avoid a restaurant with them, for instance.
In the airline it is just casual meetings and not 100% certain, so it is bearable for those uncomfortable.
Indeed in the western airline you usually get the better service from them.

When it comes to domestic airlines especially the USA it does not come down to a theory as to why they allow Gays to work for airlines. Call it what you want " poliltical correct " but it's the LAW, and age discrimination is against the LAW and airlines or any companies just doesn't want to be sued!
Although we are talking about flight attendants the major reason overseas flights are stocked with old and overweight employees is based on Senority and long haul flights to Asia allows for long laid overs. So you work at 16 plus hour flight and then you laid over in Hong Kong for 5 days or so in attractive countries like Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand for cruisine and shopping and still get paid. These rules are outlined by the FAA and other agencies and the old days of young sexy horny flight attendants using the Airlines as a stepping stone are gone particularly in the USA since there are so many LAWS on the books preventing age discrimination. Foreign Airlines don't have many of these rules and LAWS like being overweight, pregnant, and age discrimination that is why they come so young, attractive and sexy, but as for job security there is basically none and majority will not be there longer than 10 years.
I use to think the same when I was young real young going to Asia, young tight ass flight attendant thinking in my mind the things I would like to do to her in bed. Now I just think and nothing happens. But my own theory now is that the old and plain ones need love too? And I suggest if you guys ever get a opportunity like I had once to pick up and do a aging overweight flight attendant. Go for it. I still remember meeting and showing a flight attendant in Hong Kong who had a long laid over for 5 days, married for 35 years to the same guy that pretty much taken her for granted. A cheap local dinner, some drinks, and a few kind words to peak her spirits got me some of the best sex I ever had. Remember, even the old ones need love and sometimes they haven't had it in years that's where you old dick comes in. Even a old somewhat attractive flight attendant from North Carolina doing a 2 day laid over in S.F. found some use for a old LBM. Old can be good sometimes?
And if I need a young Flight Attendant I go to the Airport on Walking Street in Pattaya and pay for it and ask her to leave her uniform on.
So you work at 16 plus hour flight.

LBM
I have nothing against the older ones who are friendly and continue to bring me beers / wine without being asked.
The young ones are nice eye candy, but at the end of the day it is the attitude and service I am paying for, and I don't really care the sex / age.
It is ironic the oldest staff work the longest shifts in the airline industry, and too often the older attendants on those 16hr flights have had attitudes by the end, especially in economy.
IMHO the younger Asian airline staff (ANA, JAL, Thai, Cathay, Sinagpore) hold up better. Then again they are working for better airlines in general.

I forget that when the SHTF in flight the older ones are more calm about things. Some of them are quite the hoot just because they've been through so much."Yeah, Honey, that's just the #2 engine falling off. Nothing to worry about."

Call it what you want " poliltical correct " but it's the LAW, and age discrimination is against the LAW and airlines or any companies just doesn't want to be sued!
Actually Title VII of the USA Civil Rights Act does not protect a person from discrimination based on sexual orientation. It only protects against discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. Then other Acts protect people against discrimination based on disability, genetic information, and age. That is why there are so many people against gays in the military now, because it is not against the law to discriminate along those lines. Although it is not illegal to discriminate it makes good business sense not to. The last thing you want is a large demographic group protesting and boycotting your business when you are trying to make money. Their money spends like everybody else's.
There are of course exceptions to rules as such when things like safety are concerned. For instance, it is mandatory that a commercial airline pilot retire by age 65. The limit was 60 before but it was raised a few years ago.
One of my gfs who works at a hotel here in Pattaya said the HR people had a talk with her sometime ago. They said she had to lose weight. The kicker is that she couldn't have been more than 58k dripping wet. Apparently they only buy uniforms up to a certain size. A picture of her from the other day is below.
IMHO the younger Asian airline staff (ANA, JAL, Thai, Cathay, Sinagpore) hold up better. Then again they are working for better airlines in general.
It really has nothing to do with how "good" the airline is as much as it has to do with the rules and culture of a particular airline. I think the Asian carriers have the strictest rules and cultures for their employees. If you look at those carriers the people are all cookie-cutter (meaning they look exactly the same down to the hair clip) and have less leeway of things they are allowed to do and decisions they are allowed to make. They are more so a collective of robots. This effect should ensure you constantly get the same level of service each time you are on one of their flights. I hear the Emirates people are not even allowed to talk to each other between the plane and the hotel. The USA carriers have less rules and have more flexibility for their employees. You are more likely to see a variety of uniforms and hairstyles on the same plane. The employees of this group are more individualistic free-thinkers. So, you never know what to expect from them.

Bars open?
Tomorrow is Thai holiday Makha Bucha. Are the bars and discos are open tonight and tomorrow night? And liquor can be sold?
Tomorrow is Thai holiday Makha Bucha. Are the bars and discos are open tonight and tomorrow night? And liquor can be sold?
A waitress in Patong Phuket said that all the bars would be closed on Friday (only for one day).
If it's the same as before, most go-go bars will be closed. A lot of the open air bars will be closed, but some will be open selling soft drinks.
There might a few bars open, but it's going to be low key.
Some convenience stores sold alcohol, some didn't.
Restaurants sold alcohol.

That is why you are Mr. Enternational?
Title 7, has really expanded when it was written " sexual orientation " now it falls under " sex and national orgin " I have been in the industry for 30 years and have worked with ground crew, cargo, ticket agents, catering, pilots, flight attendants and management. But in grievances and negotiations for majority of the groups I can tell you in the early years you could pretty much say anything and people did and there was no such thing as hate crime! Now even as Title 7 is written it is meaningless in todays world. I have seen charges brought up against workers and management for even thinking it. In my representation of workers when all is lost in my argument even if you are white and not gay and I need to save your job I bring the race or sex card as a defense.
Very seldom will it not work people are so scarced of even implying or thinking of it! Majority of the time right or wrong it is settle in favor of the worker. Plus you be surprise working for a airline how many are lesbians and gay even the ground crew personnel with muscles and facial hair macho looking and don't count management out etiher. Only in America!
You like Unions or not but when it comes to Asian airlines majority of them as noted don't have the Law restrictions nor being represented by a Union. They are " AT WILL " employees and just as MR. E, noted cookie cutters, they are trained to do it like this and what they have to do or take the highway! A Great example is ever see the difference of how clean the bathroom are compare to a Airline like United, Northwest (Delta) Very seldom will you see a Flight Attendant get angry or talk back to a passenger even in coach. I give them credit having to spend hours smelling our bad breath and the constant internal gas we let out throughout the cabin. I have only been as far as Business class as a Airline ghost rider and I can tell you it is worse in the more expensive cabin since the seats recline much more which seem to produce more toxic gas from the high rollers. My flight once on Northwest to Bangkok I'm sure if there was a smoke detector it would have went off? Maybe that is why the Flight crew on Northwest are so grumbie all the time?

Title 7, .

LBM
I would take the cookie cutters of the Asian airlines any day over the American carriers. They are cute, courteous and helping. The grandmas of United, Northwest or Delta are rude, fuddy duddy, unhelpful (mostly).

Those of us based here on the other side of the big pond have to put up with these "grandmas".
Add air canada (particulary the long haul flight crews). Now we have westjet. At least we have some alternative.
For me, holiday starts once I board a Eva, JAL, Cathay flight. Finally service and there will be cuities who are more.
Than glad to offer service, as opposed the crews on North American based carriers whom have "earned the right / seniority to be there"

A reply to Dunawala
How dare you say that our fat, old, grouchy, rude and unhelpful attendants, are fat, old, grouchy, rude and unhelpful.
They are the pick of the litter here in the USA. Arn't we the lucky ones?
