Decent pool area and user friendly are two of good features off Tropical. into the lobby and was meet by a "friendly chap" who asked if i wanted something special and offered to host me. on yes he promptly took me to the 5th floor and explained i would get a "very good special service" for rp1. 95million for 90mins. while prepared for about this pricing level, it did seem a bit steep and i thought i should be on the 7th floor at the spa area. mentioned this and the reply was 7th floor massage only at rp1. 75million and i would only get the special service here. i was pretty sure he was bullshitting me so i would take service at "his place", but go with the flow (since i'm here for the experience) and said ok. paid at the counter and got taken to a room for a line up. seven girls brought in. all asian foriegn as expected from china, vietnam, etc and 8-9 level. chose a pretty young thing from china on the recommendation my host.

got taken to another room for the service. room did not really meet expectations as i was expecting 5+ star quality after forum reports on l7. decor mostly black, only matress on the floor (not bed), shower area not so well maintained and not really 5 star quality. perhaps this impression is a matter of taste.

overall the damage was about rp610k (included a coke for a drink while waiting for massuse) and an excellent way to spend 3+ hours (after using the spa facilities). there are ordinary suite rooms priced cheaper and if one of these were selected expected then the damage would probably be about rp450k all up. if you are after a real massage then this place would be recommended.

hotel melawai/maribaya bar

I went also to Maribaya bar recently and had been charged 450. 000 IDR, indeed. So, they went up 50. 000 again, which makes the Kebon Jeruk area (Kartika etc.), Hotel Travel etc. Even more a better deal now (250 300. 000 IDR)! I was there the other day and the price at Melawai is now 450k (it was 400k until just recently). Actually, it doesn't matter if you give the money to the girl or at reception. The "tip" is not included in that price. The girl does get a cut of that 450k "room charge", but it's still customary to give a tip (50 to 100k) - especially when the service is good.

total bullshit. the top floor is much better. smll bar ahead as you enter, then to the right beach chairs to lounge under the skylights. opposite the beachchairs, little divan enclosures with cloth draped around. just beyond the beachchairs, three pools (hot, warm, icy) and steam room and sauna. lounge, have drinks, order food, take it easy. any time you like, ask for a lineup. get the choice of about 6 nationalities, round about between 1.8 and 2.x million. your choice dons a bikini and joins you in the pool, steam room, mops your brow, etc etc. then go down to the room, standard operating procedure follows.
