Most likely a bit slow at that time of year.
Lots of the visiting working chicas go to be with family at that time.

Portuguese is like a sexy sounding spanish.
The chicas will understand a bit if you speak slowly, and you'll understand quite a bit of their spanish.
Tell the chicas you're from Brazil .. they dig it.

I speak both languages, for me spanish is much easier, easier pronounciation.

Never been there during Christmas or New Year's, but would think what Ricker says above is spot on.

Would be interested as well in hearing from someone who has actually been in Cartagena during Christmas week. Does LDV stay open through the 23rd or 24th? How about the 26th? Do some Cartagenaras still mingle in Playa Hollywood working on the days leading up to the 25th? Ever slip away to the apartamento with a chica from the beach who is there during Christmas week with her family? Or will a guy have to have Tony start calling local chicas from his cell phone contact list?

May be only slim pickings, but I'm guessing there are some opportunities at Playa Hollywood or through Tony, and if LDV is still open. I'm curious to know from anyone who has been there from say Dec. 21 through the end of the year.

Previous night in LDV was dead: one Cali chica trying to make transportation fare home, two every night regulars, and very scant flotsam room filler. The entire week before, LDV had been becoming more and more empty with each passing night. Plus side was minimal competition. Have been wondering when the girls start perculating back into the place after Christmas. For New Years, Juan Ventura's places a are pretty booked -- and at higher rates -- for anyone contemplating being there for Eve 2011.

I spent Christmas one year in Cali.
Was fantastic the week leading to Christmas.
Was OK after Christmas, heading to New Years Celebration.
Great private parties on New Years eve.
From the new years day for about a week ... dead.

I did a search of this thread on the word "Christmas" and did find one report from Reefski. Looks like he did find a little action on the beach during Christmas week. Maybe Reefski is still around and will expand on his report from Dec. 2008.

Yoah All, I'll be helping out the poor Colombian women and the economy in CTG this weekend. I'll be stayting at one of Jaun Place by LDV.

I'm hosting a couple of guys. I was at Tu Candela last time in Cartagena and found it interesting the Non pro and pro mix.

I wanted to show them a couple places with a non pro mix before we hit La Dolce Vida. Any suggestions?

We will C. I understand the theory that many go home for the holidays but I am thinking that this is one of the busiest tourist seasons for them, so I can't imagine them missing the opportunity for a good ratio which means good business for them. I am hoping at the very least 29, 30, 31 December the whole city must be in party mode.

But we will see how business focused they are.

I have been in Cartagena nearly every year for New Years and some for Christmas over the last 8 years. Many chicas from casas in Medellin and Cali are recruited by agencies to work in Cartagena in December, most leaving with our dinero the week before Christmas. Funny how a 30,000 peso casa chica is working at a high end casa (200-350,000 for the night in Cartagena) during that time. They also get bored waiting for action and are looking for daytime tricks on the beach.

There are always the Cartagena girls available on the playa, yeah Hollywood too. Action is slow for a few days after Christmas but picks up around the 28th of 29th. New Years in Cartagena is the busiest time of the year, also the most expensive. Apartments and hotels are 1 1/2 to 3x what they usually charge, biggest days are Dec 29 to January 16 this year. For New Years get a chica that is fun and try Santa Domingo Plaza, you will need a reservation at one of the restaurants there, about $100 per person. Area is partitioned off with the loudest band available, but a great time to be there. Tables for dinner in all the streets close to the Plazas.

La Dolce picks up during New Years but you really need to have one tied up imho. Unless tings changed in the last 2 weeks La Perla Casino has been closed down and La Dolce stands alone. This time of year the weather si great historically but this year the rains keep coming. I am told it has rained most days including today recently.

There will always be quality chicas there if you look. Mant drunk teens fr4on other areas of Colombia but they are not so notibabe at some of the "closed" parties for New Years in nthe old city.

Hi. I want to thank you all for your info. It made planning very easy. A little background, this is my 1st time to Colombia, I have been to brazil(2x), Peru and Costa Rica and Mexico City. So I think I can speak from a little experience.

I used Juan for an apt., I recommend him highly, he delivered as promised, was available whenever a problem arose, the apt. Was excellent, oceanfront, wall of windows with a bueatiful sunset every nite. Flat screen tv in living room. I am probalbly going back in feb. And hope to get the same place. All the girls loved it when they saw it.

LDV, I loved this place. Obviously for those who have been to brazil, this cannot compare to help in size, but I personally, IMHO, found the percentage of quality women, signifigantly better. And it had a great energy/vibe. Much better than T. R. In Lima, again, IMHO.

The beach scene, was like a mini version of copacabana, the beach quality is not as nice or big. But had a similiar energy, everything was available. Food, drink, and girls. Tony #1 is as described. Very helpful and an a**hole. He truly could deliver on anything you wanted. Blanca and flaca, no problem. He was on his phone and 15 minutes later she arrived, and he didnot dissappoint he had great quality. And if it didn't suit you, he would get another. Personally I preferred the afternoon session with the beach girls to LDV night sessions, if you had a good connection. It just seemed more relaxed, not as hardcore. Plus, the beach girls were younger on average.

I always find that I go all out the first few days as far as the sex goes, then I become more interested in the overall party scene, with some sex mixed in. Met some really fun girls, and a few americans, hooked up with a really crazy chica that I had a great connection with and spent the last 3 days/nights together. Lots of fun, took my out to centro for drinks/ dinner one night and to tu candela(sp?) another, great time. Was helpful for translating etc. For this it is important to get a girl who can speak some english as my spanish is poco. No matter how great the physical connection if they don't speak any english it is had to be with them other than short time.

Well, to sum it up it was great, much cheaper than brazil currently, and I'm already planning a return trip in feb., thanks again for all your help, Doc.

This is probably my final report on CTG though hopefully not Colombia. I left CTG last Tuesday morning and was frankly fairly bored with the city by that time. For my last night, I thought that it would be a good idea to check out LDV. I had been there on a prior trip in August and did not have a great experience with a blond cheerleader type from MDE who also spoke quite good English as she had just completed an English class in MDE. However, the girls at LDV overall are quite stunning.

As I noted in prior reports on Elektra, there appears to be some sort of unofficial union with the girls based on the consistent price levels and lack of flexibility thereof. I did have a great time with a black girl from Cali I met in Elektra who actually asked me what I wanted to pay for TLN. I offered $150K, she accepted and was up for anything and as many times as I could get Mr. Happy to perform.

When I went to LDV there were quite a few outstanding looking girls along with the regular motley crew I had seen in Elektra. The first girl I chatted with from Manizales was a cute blond but she tried to pawn off her gordita friend from Barranquilla on me. No dice. The cute blond had another customer so that was a no go. The gordita probably would have provided the best service but was too chubby for my liking. No price discussed so I moved on to an attractive quite pretty dark haired girl from MDE. Non-pro look which I like. Once again as in similar experiences in Elektra, she wanted $250k for 2 hours and would not budge on the price. She said that this price was inexpensive though easy for her to say. Maybe she should sell used cars some day.

After that, I spoke to another dark haired girl from MDE with that interesting skin color some girls from MDE have. She claimed to be a university student from MDE and said she was only in CTG for several days. Her family and friends think she is on vacation. Once again, she wanted $250k for two hours. After an awkward silence as I waited for her to bring her price down, she instead did an about face and headed back into the disco. I kind of regret throwing that one back into the pond as she was pretty hot but don't want to pay that kind of $$. I guess that I was spoiled by the Cali girl.

Shortly thereafter, another MDE chica came over. She wanted $250k but quickly moved to $200 for two hours. I was a bit superstitious of her aggressive approach, which proved to be a cautionary tale once again. After getting in the taxi, she first wanted to stop at a drug store for aspirin. She paid for it but it was kind of annoying way to start our 'relationship'. Then she wanted an arepa, which I paid for and finally we headed back to my room at El Centro having to pay the taxi guy extra for all the additional driving. Once in the room, she insisted I take a shower and I thought she would join me. Instead she stood there watching me (she was naked too) but would not get in the shower with me but instead kept looking at Mr. (Not) so Happy and insisted that I use the soap freely. Frankly, I felt like I was with my mom. We finally got down to business where she reluctantly accepted DATY and then wanted it doggie style. To make a long story short she was an absolute suck lay. Finally, to add insult to injury she limited me too only one time. Given the first experience, I did not protest too much. Sorry guys, but as I told her, I forgot to ask how many times for the two hours. Classic mistake.

After that, she hung around for a while giving me lame GFE. Is anything worse? And then she started to bring up taxi money. Taxi money I said? I told her that I never said that I would pay you for taxi money and I guess you forgot to ask if that was included (lol). With that I gave her the $200k and the boot.

In retrospect, its more or less just luck sometimes if you have a good time with the girl. I expected the Cali chick too be only so-so, yet she turned out to be the best one from my trip. To paraphrase Forrest, mongering is like a box of chocolates. Maybe I should go direct to Cali for my next trip though concerned about the reputed heat/climate? Any opinions out there about all that...

Yes, I found I was unable to signifigantly get the girls off of their asking prices, if that was the case it is better to just walk away. I paid at nite, in ldv, anywhere from 200 to 250k, usually closer to 250, this was for 2hours, which you had to specify ahead of time, or they would try to leave earlier. The last one did stay all night and tru the day. The beach girls I would pay 150k and insist on 2 hours. No problem. And again, they tended to be less mechanical, more GFE, more relaxed. I actually prefered to play in the late afternoon, then go party at nite.

This was a great report, but I cant help adding my 2cents. I have only had 1 or 2 bad experiences with Cartagena, which is nothing compared to all the women I have had there. I just cant get into all that negotiating, it ruins the mood and I believe for the girl to. I buy the bottles of liquor freely, ask the girl if she wants to go get something to eat and just ease into everything. It kinda of comes natural. I have never paid more then 200,000 and thats for all night. I never even wake then up in the morning, I leave them there sleeping. Usually they will join me on the beach. If I had to talk about all that how many pops, how much, when you leaving, that would kill it for me and I am sure it does for some of the girls you are talking to.

Juan ran out of 1 BR apartments. I found an apartment for rent on hotels.com called Sunny Isles located in Bocagrande Cr K 2 04-132. I found nothing here with the search engine and wondered if anyone here know if it's guest friendly or not. From the map it looks reasonably close to LDV.

Here's something I posted in the past about LDV. Suits your situation so I'll copy and paste it here.

Being pitched 500k is easily avoidable. Simply don't ask how much they want. It's an invitation that you may not know the usual prices, and they should try and gouge you.

Instead, tell them what you want to pay.

Establish a rapport with the girl first (drinks, dancing, chat). Then give her an offer about what you want to do: "I would like you to come with me to my apartment in Laguito. I have some drinks back at my place (rum, vodka.) or you can smoke a joint. I want you to stay about an hour and a half. I am offering 150k pesos and will also pay your taxi after you leave my place. I'm a calm and relaxed person and will make sure you're comfortable with me".

Something like the above (alter it to suit your circumstances). I sometimes pull them out of LDV a bit earlier, then offer to escort them to the door of Elektra after we're done. Make the offer attractive to the girl and she will more likely say yes.

Now if the guy happens to be an unattractive person, maybe that explains getting way higher quotes. Girls won't say no outright, they'll just quote a high rate. If you suspect this, find someone who understands colombianas and ask them if you're giving off bad vibes.
