I’m a 21-year old Dutchman who will visit Thailand, and South East Asia, for the first time in his life. Although I plan to do a lot of things, mongering will – of course – be one of them. I was wondering if there is somenone here who would want to give me a few pointers on where to go/what to do. I was thinking about staying in Bangkok only a short while and then go straight away to Pattaya. If you do something, why not at the best place for it right? Or is Pattaya’s advantage over other places in Thailand overrated?

I'm posting here because I thought maybe there is someone out there who (experienced or green like me) who would like to meet up sometime and exchange notes or just have some beers. I've been in both Bangkok and Pattaya. And I couldn't stand Bangkok. Too much polution in the air. And after some people there tried to take advantage of me. I got disgusted and left Bangkok for Pattaya.

One good thing in Bangkok is that it has a lot more people, which includes more bars, more go-go places, and more massage places to have fun at.

But Pattaya is pretty good too. And it's a lot more quiet and relaxed than Bangkok is. The distances are smaller, which means that you can simply walk from place to place. And the hotels in Pattaya are better priced and more accommodating when it comes to bringing the lady to your room for the night.

One problem you might have in Pattaya is staying with the same lady you've arranged to show you around. Many streets there are lined with open air bars and go-go places. And you'll have to deal with many temptations, especially when you go for an evening walk.

As long as you have a female escort. Then the other ladies won't bother you too much. But if you happen to be alone in the evening. Then the semi-naked ladies will be all over you. And you will have a hard time getting away, unless you choose one of them to go with you of course.

One thing you have to be careful of is drinking too much alcohol. The ladies there are paid to encourage foreign customers to drink. And you can easily end up drinking too much. Which can lead to all kinds of problems because you loose your good judgement when you drink too much.

If it's not a girlfriend you are looking for but a good ride. Then a massage parlour is the best place to go to for that. Search Google for 'Pattaya Massage'. And you'll find the addresses of all massage places in Pattaya.

i was there three weeks ago for 5 days. angeles city is a miniature of pattaya about one tenth of pattaya i would say and with no beaches.

imho not worth going if you can visit pattaya instead.

i don't think i will ever go there again. thailand is offering too many more options than phlippines. the only plus was the language and the 10-15% lower prices . almost all of them speak some english.

It would probably be more fun to find out for yourself which bars you like.
Pattaya is easy to just wander around and check out the bars. None of the go-go's charge for admission so it will only cost you the price of a drink to take a look, if you don't like it, move on to the next bar.
I'm sure you'll find something you like.

I thought I'd send my first post after lurking around for a couple of months.

Back about 4 weeks ago from an 18 day BKK/Pattaya trip. Been doing it at least twice a year for about 10 years now and judging by some of the posts I guess I've been very lucky in the BBBJ dept. Now that I have come out of the closet so to speak (registered subscription), can I ask for some advice on something that's been bugging me for my last few visits to Pattaya. I tend to be a gogo person and only done the MPs and Soi 6 bars a few times over the years.

So on last couple of trips when I'm in need of a wee bit of afternoon delight I've ocassionally taken a stroll down Soi 6 to see if there are any nice girls. I usually pick a bar based on the quality of the girls outside. When I walk in and sit down it seems to be a totally random quality girl that follows me into the usually almost empty bar and takes my order and sits down beside me. I've been really unlucky the last few times in that it's been a relatively unattractice girl that just didn't take my fancy. Frustrating when there are much better girls sitting outside.

So what do I do? Politely tell them that I'm not really interested but could they introduce me to one of their friends that I like? Try to get one's attention on the way in? I tend to just have a little bit of chat with them, drink my beer and move onto the next bar in the hope that a better one will come over this time. By the time I'm in the 5th bar and a decent one come over, I'm too far gone to be bothered anymore :-)

Just wondered if some of you Senior Mongers could help me out on this issue of etiquettebefore my next trip in 4 weeks time?
