Please try to read back the RoD, as I wrote, and you'll discover that my answer was a good suggestion. The basic fact is that the answer to your question is already there. Quick and short report.
Made it here the other day and as fortune would have it, ran into a Colombian amigo within an hour of arriving. He insisted that I should let him introduce me to some chicas, so I said ok and told him my preferences. The next 24 hours I pretty much stayed in my apartment to greet, meet and have fun with chicas he would introduce to me. 3 out of the 4 I found attractive and with the right vibe, while one I just didn't feel it with and had him politely send her on her way (I did give him taxi fare for her).
Why do I say "as fortune would have it"? Because with the recent rains having changed the beach scene (I was told that the sea was so high that there wasn't really any place for chairs and carpas in Playa Hollywood (I haven't gone yet so I can't say that from firsthand experience) , and with many of the working chicas having gone home for the holidays, having a local friend who knows local chicas can sure fill the void.
Went to LDV last night around 1 am around 30-40 chicas and maybe 12 or so hombres. As others have said, many of the chicas go home to be with family (as one would expect). Of the chicas there, I saw maybe only 5 or 6 that would be doable for me sober. Maybe another 5 or 6 would have been doable for me if I had been drinking earlier or walked-in with the mindset of needing "it" badly.
Again as one would probably expect, more chicas seemed a little desperate to get a man's attention. One chica in particular was a complete pain in the ass. Had to tell her on three different occassions that I was not interested and that I preferred to drink my beer alone at the time.
Stopped by Electra around 5 a.m. and as you can probably already guess---it was slim pickins' as compared to other times of the year. Also, just like in LDV, was approached by more chicas than usual, even with there being an overall low number of chicas compared to other times of the year.
Can not give out any "price quotes", as I did not broach that subject and did not take a chica home from either LDV or Electra. I'd had enough "fun" for my first day and a half that I just wasn't feeling it unless I found something that really made me stand at attention-and nothing did.
As a follow-up to the previous report, did make it to the beach and there are carpas, etc, in Playa Hollywood. They are all about 40 yards back from where they usually are, all the way up against the back border wall that seperates the beach from hotels / buildings.
Predominantly families and groups of friends at the beach, and of course Tony there wanting to introduce a "new" chica. Just hung out for a couple of hours and bought Tony a couple of beers. Hey, it's Christmas!
Mery got me into the Torre Centauro building, which she says is near the Hilton. In just looking at maps I'm having trouble orienting myself in CTG-no doubt it will be easier when I actually get there.
Is this walking distance to LDV? Has anyone created any good maps of CTG highlighting points of interest?

Torre Centauro is about a 3 minute walk from LDV located pretty much in the middle of Hilton and LDV.
I've stayed in 2 different apartments there and both were acceptable. Not at the Mirador del Laguito or Torre del Lago level but not super dated and more or less well run. The pool is on the roof and doesn't have much activity. The other negative is that there aren't many units with balconies.
What kind of pricing for what size place did you get?

Thanks for info. Cost was 300, 000 Pesos per night, which I though as OK given the high season. The Hilton wants $375 a night.

He's put together a great list of information, and I believe there are links to a couple of maps on his list. I think now his post is probably on the 2nd most recent page in that thread. Spend some time checking out the other information on World Travel's post, as it contains a wealth of information all in one spot. You can also check out Cartagenainfo.net, but I'd start with World Travel's Cartagena list first.

Both times I stayed at Mirador de Laguito almost all of my time was spent with the only 1 girl. 1 non pro and 1 pro that really didn't have the look of one. Before booking I asked if I can bring girls up without a problem and they said no issue so long as its only 1 girl.
Security was much stronger there than in some of the other buildings I have stayed at. Torre del Lago is a building where they don't seem to pay any attention to who comes and who goes. Surprising considering its a new beautiful building.
On another note 300, 000 seems a lot for Torre Centauro. I spent 200, 000 last year for the 2 bed 2 bath unit at Torre del Lago. That is the most I have ever paid for a 2 bed 2 bath. The year before I stayed at Torre Centauro for 180,000 for the 2 bed 2 bath with balcony. When I was only using 1 bedroom they reduced the price to 130,000. I have always traveled in February, March or October.
Have prices gone up a lot in the last year? Or are January prices considerably higher than February?

Now, to hear the prices being charged at the dumps, glad I didn't put myself through the aggravation.
My modest contribution to the knowledge base-walking directions from the Hilton Hotel (a good landmark in Laguito) to LDV:
Walking toward the Hilton, turn left on the street just before you enter the Hilton grounds. The street is Av. Retorno. This street curves around a small lagoon and keep following it around the lagoon until the sidewalk ends about 2/3 of the way around at Cra. 3. Walk left about a block on Cra. 3 and then make a left on Calle 4. If you are on the left side of Calle 4 it will curve to the left around the Hotel Caribe. After you make that curve you are on Carrera 1 (beach is on other side of street). Follow Carrera 1 for maybe 300M until you see a brown 2 story building on your right signed 'Pierino Gallo. ' LDV is on the second level, up the stairs. If you get there after midnight (as you should) you'll have no trouble at all finding the entrance.
About 15 minutes and should be safe since all the streets are busy day and night. I know taxis are cheap in CTG, but a nice walk to get the blood moving is a good thing too.

[/QUOTE]Why are you going out of the way to get to LDV? Walk out of the front door of the Hiton, go straight. DO NOT TURN. In five minutes you are there. When you get to the split in the road, if you angle left, the stairs are on the right and if you angle to the right, turn left past the building and left at the stairs. I can understand your way if you are taking a taxi because the street is one way and forms a complete loop around Laquito.
