To my knowledge, prices for apartments managed by Juan or Mery have generally stayed the same in the past year. I can think of an exception for the apartments that changed owners that Mery manages or used to manage, as the new owner is asking for quite a bit more than the previous owner.

The 300 mil pesos that Blago is paying is a high season price, probably close to double the non-high season rate. High season rates will cease on or around Jan. 15th.

No restrictions regarding girls but they do have to show I'd for age verification to the front desk. There are about 8 working girls that live directly across the street in a high rise. Thety sit outside in the afternoon and evenings. Great fun, GFE, they are 1/3 the price of the LDV girls and all are 7's to 9's. Look for Sandra or Roches. Fabulous girls. Also look for an old guy named Bill that sits in a chair outside Playa Mar every afternoon. Grat source of information. He's an x-pat and has lived there for decades.

Sandra has been a fave of mine for years. I'll be there in a couple of months, looking forward to seeing old friends and new ones that I'll make, especially the female ones.

I have been lazy after my trip to CTG in September (4 days). I feel lazy also now, after another trip to CTG in December (3 days) , but this time I force myself to write a summary report for both experiences.

I think that my old reports dated 2009 still present valid information, overall. I see only minor details that are outdated. Important things did not change. First-timers may find useful to read them, as an introduction to the places and things:

[b]La Dulce Vida[/b]

I don't like La Dulce Vida a.k.a. LDV (sometimes we should expand the acronym, to be not cryptic vs. Newcomers). I have been there 2-3 times again, in Sept. And Dec, and I always felt misplaced.

Many girls vs. Few men. 99% of them gringo looking. I remember a couple of guys pretending to be in a real disco, dancing very seriously in the middle of dance floor. When I was there, I could not refrain from thinking that most men I was seeing were probably lodging very close to LDV and maybe restricting their circle of activities in a 1-km radius in Bocagrande, without enjoying the life in CTG or even knowing what was the city like. .

What I don't like in LDV, especially, is that while I walk around I feel the eyes of all girls following me. At the same time, I scan all bodies and faces. There is something like a tension, which makes the place not really a disco, while it is still not really a brothel. Also, being early (typically 12 or 1am) , girls aim at long time TLN and propose high fees. Girls are mostly very professional. Of course, with patience some special one can be found.

[b]SEEKING ELSEWHERE[/b]

Considering my negative feeling at LDV, I always strove to find elsewhere some good company.

[i]OTHER CLUBS[/i]

I NEVER entered ISIS. I don't like the way they do marketing, spamming all streets nearby with poor guys repeating like a mantra "Isis, Isis, Isis caballero. Isis, Isis, Isis caballero. Isis, Isis, Isis caballero."

I tried Banana's this December. It's basically a BmD place (prices not very high) , but you can take out girls too. I actually had such a fun time with 3 girls. Paid a few drinks and had a lot of laugh, fun, strokes and touches back. I was proposed to take all 3 to the hotel for 300k. Thinking retrospectively, I should have said yes, but it was 12 and I thought to have all the night ahead for better opportunities.

Elektra is the place to go, in my opinion. It opens 3am. Starting 3:30am, it is packed with all girls out of LDV and other clubs. Given the low ratio man / girls, it is not necessarily true that at 3am all best girls have been already "booked". Actually, I've been often overwhelmed by the number of stunning girls available at Elektra. Hard to choose. Given the time, it is also easier to bargain for a better fee.

[i]A PRIVATE SITE[/i]

In September, I was bored of LDV, Elektra and streets and I wanted to go really off-track. I really wanted to find the casa in Zaragocilla mentioned by Otiers in his post (I think some weeks before Sept. 2010). I asked various taxi drivers, but nobody knew that place (What a pity! If anybody knows how to locate it, I will be grateful for that hint! Please PM me!).

A driver, finally, took me to a private house in Alcibia (near Av. Pedro de Heredia, after the Mercado del Bazurto). A nice kind lady runs this business at home. She lives there with husband and young daughter (no, she does not work, and she is such a sweetie). She can call girls, according to user requirements, and she also has a room in the back. She asks a tip for the room and the intermediation (I gave 30k and 50k). Negotiation is between me and the girl, chatting privately in front of a beer.

I have been there two times in Sept. And one time now in December. I went there by taxi and came back walking (from Bazurto to India Catalina does not take more than 30-40 minutes).

What I like of this place is the family environment and the fact that she can call free-lance girls from CTG barrios, not those working in bigger casas. To be honest, at least half of the girls she called for me looked hard-core (not the SYT I was looking for) , but I simply asked to propose me somebody different.

The first did not look particularly attractive to me, but she asked 200k for short time (!) , claiming she was unprofessional college student. My guess was that she was around 20yo and not so naive, anyway. After her, I talked with a younger, shorter and a bit chubby girl who definitely looked like a "first-timer" (no, not virgin, I mean not used to P4P). She asked me 80k and even asked if it was ok. I did not want to negotiate lower, because in CTG this is what you are asked to pay even with sleazy ones in CL. Media Luna. I really enjoyed her company and we also exchanged the phone numbers. Too bad I had to leave the day after and I could not meet her one more time!

I returned to this place also in December and I met another outstanding non-pro girl (but she asked 120k after negotiation!). What is surprising is that after I finished with this girl, another one came, but fat and looking like with years of working experience. The lady asked me if I wanted also her for the night, maybe. I am surprised, because she should know what kind of girls I like (and she did not insist, in fact).

[i]STREETS[/i]

The Center is not like years ago anymore. Girls in front of California Bar and CL. Media Luna are now the worst of the worst. The ones under the colonnade in the plaza del Reloy are mostly ugly and sleazy. BUT, there are always exceptions. .

In September, I had the chance to meet a tall black girl walking around the Plaza. She is still there, if you like. She was with a blond pregnant girl (5th month) , but she is not working anymore (she is now waiting to drop and she also found a nice man to stay with!). I started to talk and finally I invited them to eat something at the fast food in the plaza. I had a very nice time with them. They are honest girls (I am not ironic) and I enjoyed so much that I accepted to go with them in a room of a hotel nearby. I was asked 300k first (by the black girl, very skilful) , but we settled for 200k. I know it's pricey, but how could I miss the opportunity to play 3-some with a panther-body black girl and a preggy blondie? Not going to LDV, sure. And it was a rewarding experience indeed! (no, I don't give out details).

Next time, I think I will try the strategy I like to pursue in Bogota or Medellin. Pay a taxi driver to scout around bad areas and watch SWs. I found gems in this way. The problem is that 2 hours by taxi in Medellin cost 40k, in CTG it's different. Also, I have no idea about what areas would be good in CTG for SWs, outside Bocagrande and El Centro.

[b]WHAT HOTEL? [/b]

I cannot understand why so many people strive to have a girl from LDV to spend the whole night with them. Except few of them, they are very professional. I like to have a girl for all the night in my room only in the best conditions of GFE. I had such a feeling only in Asia (Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Batam, see my last report there). I think you know the sentence "We hobbyists do not pay a girl for sex, but for making her to disappear after sex". .

I add that I stay in a hotel in El Centro where it is forbidden to bring girls (people after 12 cannot enter if not registered UPON CHECK-IN!). Therefore, finding a good place for ST is imperative.

If you have time and plan to make longer your ST, I recommend La Jaiva (read my reports linked above). It's a nice love hotel at Crespo (10-12k from Reloy by taxi, maybe 15k / hour). It's super discreet: no cedula, no checkin. You enter by taxi in the box, pay the driver, climb the stairs, pay the maid through a small window. If you don't like the eyes of the doorman screening you when you enter the hotel with your girl, that's your place (I guess there are also shy ones among ISG readers).

If you want to stay at El Centro, there are various decent hotels nearby Reloy, which will rent you a clean room for 15k / hour. One I tried various times is Sol de las Indias 1 block from Elektra.

Elektra sounds like fun but at 330 AM. Well, I'm a wimpo, and I'd just rather be sleeping at that time and I hate wasting the whole next day.

My personal LDV experiences have been good in the past.
As you say though, you have to be able to weed through the hard pros or at least be able to soften them up a bit.
Spanish skills are almost a must, unless you just don't mind paying the high asking prices with mechanical service.
If you can actually get these chicas to see you as a guy, maybe even a cool guy and not just a cash machine with a pecker, everything gets better and cheaper :)

Also, please correct me if I'm equivocado, but I believe LDV stands for 'la Dolce Vita', from the owner's Italian language, for 'the sweet life'.

Re. LDV, I think you are right. I checked some web pages and the real name of the club is "La Dolce Vita". I am used to call it "La Dulce Vida", wrongly I think at this point, because most girls call it that way.

By the way,"La Dolce Vita" is the title of the famous movie by Federico Fellini. Aldo wanted to recall it, when he named the place.

Is March 16 to the 23 a good time to travel to Cartagena, Colombia? I m planning on visiting a few coastal cities like Santa Marta and Barranquilla.

For a week, may wind up going to the out of town beach for a couple of days. LDV is certianly a unique place and I think any newcomer to town should visit at least once. It is like a mini-help (Rio) in some ways. But it does lose its shock value. I felt the first time was almost overwelming, but with each additional time you realized you saw the same faces over and over. Plus they can be very hardened pros. You really have to search for the right connection. And yes, one time I was dancing like a regular club. Was pretty f. Ed up, just wanted to party (was burned out on fucking). Ran into a previous aquaintace, who was of the same mindset. So we just partied on as old friends. I also want to suggest to the newcomers to definitly try the beach scene, I personally felt you got much more of GFE from those girls, generally younger than ldv, not as rushed. A good late afternoon activity, and allows you to then go out to dinner, etc. With a clear head. Not so much on the prowl, BTW, tony #1 is as described, but he could definitly deliver on the goods. I prefer a variety of girls in the beginning, then look for one that has areally good connection, then spend a couple days with that one. Going to dinner, regular clubs in centro, etc. I see you prefer to search for casas, etc. To much work for me, but thats just me. I am looking forward to trying my luck at more places like tu candela, etc this time. My problem is my spanish is muy poco. Take care and enjoy your travels.

Don't be too surprised that, mixed in with the families and friends, are girls that will go back to your apartment. Tony introduced me to a 20 something lady who was sitting with another woman and four young children. It turns out they were sisters and the children were her nephews and nieces. She had no problem earning a few extrra bucks. Last September, while I had time to kill before my ex showed up, I was introduced to a girl that had been playing in the surf and partying with a few other girls and guys. I wonder how Hollywood Beach is today? I read the Cartagena newpaper online each day and yesterday they had an article and pictures of Hollywood Beach. The water was all the way up to the cement wall and the bar / restaurant. The article stated the vendors have moved down to other beaches and the bar had closed. I am not sure if it was recent or if it was a few weeks ago when there was extreme flooding.

I did find a couple of casas near PleyClub. One was actually right behind it. It was interesting the first time I went in the afternoon and was not really opened. There is a courtyard where there are tables and bar and at the back was one shack that was closed. The madam pounded on the door for five minutes until the girl answered the door half asleep. I felt bad when I said no thanks. To me I just could not have sex with somebody forced to wake up. The next time I went, I found a great 25 year old from Monteria. The room was rather stark with the sheet only covering half of the dirty mattress. I will not go back because as I was leaving, I noticed there were quite a few girls looking very young. Later the cabbie told me they were 14. That is one problem I do not need to deal with.

I plan to go back to Cartagena in May, but it will be difficult. My wife was suppose to go to the embassy for her visa in August, but never showed up. I was with her in September and she said it was the embassy's fault and she was there. So I sent her money for a trip to Bogota in October, but once again she did not show up. A week later, I got an email telling me she did not wish to return to the USA. After a month, she wanted to know if we were still married and if I would move to Colombia. I told her she is on her own and not to expect anyhting from me. I felt bad at Christmas because I know my stepson would be expecting me to be there and to bring him a new X-Box for his present.

Enough of that, just brought it up for those thinking of bringing home one of the cuties from Colombia. Think before you act. My ex did give up a good job six years ago when she came to the US and she only lasted three years before she got homesick. Now she owns a four bedroom condo on Av Consulado which I paid for and expected to live in when I retired. Funny thing about Colombian women, even when she knows she will be with another man someday, she still wants me to be at her beckon call. So when I come, I will need to hide out away from her friends' eyes. I can sneak to the beach and LDV at night, but the morning run and afternoon walk to Bocagrande is off the books. Too many people know me and my ex.
