Well, I could be wrong about that. An attorney on the island told me about the visa or some other type restriction so it's only hearsay. The attorney also said that if you marry someone from the island who has established residency, then you have resident status as well. Plus the girl I met from MDE who was working at the club said she was only allowed to be there for 90 days. I was also told that there are quite a few mainland Colombians on the island who technically should not be there.

Apparently, San Andreans don't want a bunch of mainlanders coming over and mucking things up for the locals but someone who is better informed about all these things can clarify or modify my original statement. One other thing, it is my understanding that there are only a very few Americans who live there permanently for the same reason and they are married to locals.

I will be going to Cartagena this weekend on sort of a last minute trip. Unfortunately all the apartments that I looked for are booked. I have found the reasonably priced Hotel Playa which suites my needs. Does anyone know if it is guest friendly? I have searched the forums and I know apartments are preferred. But someone has to have some info on a guest friendly hotel, please. I appreciate any and all input, thanks!

I went to the club Isis in the Centro of Cartagena the other day. Some negative views on this forum about this place so I was curious about this place. I was positively surprised. When I arrived around 11 the place was packed with girls, most of them well over average pretty. Some guests, but not many. Also a relexed athmosphere.

I just got back from Costa Rica last week and girls would say"100usd for an hour. 300usd tln" before they say their name. But you let the guys on that board tell it, they were getting girls for 50usd for an hour. There are some places there that are timed and reasonable, but most of those guys are paying top dollar.

ATMs are by far the [u]cheapest[/u] Way to get local currency, not only in Colombia but in many countries (please note: use SAVINGS ACCOUNT, not the cash advance of credit cards) , not to mention that they are everywhere and open 24/24, and also that you don't have to carry all cash with you when you travel.

I strongly recommend to avoid money changers. I wrote many reports about this, with all explanations and cost comparison, so I don't repeat the various reasons here.
