Thanks for pointing that out. As a non-native english speaker, I don't always know all the right words or terms for everything under the sun, so clarifications like this one are much appreciated, especially when an incorrect term could lead to some confusion or misunderstanding.

And, Jam Jam, I've seen that you've uploaded a report in the Erlebniswohnung thread with a correct layout and seperation of only paragraphs. Much easier and more enjoyable to read.

But to clarify, what SL means is don't hit the enter key after each "sentence". Use them only to separate "paragraphs". The word "column" is confusing, as it normally means a vertical space or one of several paragraphs stacked side-by-side. Hence the use of the word in Excel or Word tables, or newspaper columns, or the use in Greek and Roman architecture, as in those massive vertical supports.

I must say that the way this forum works about this is kind of misleading. I tend to use carriage returns to simply start a new line to separate a paragraph in different blocks. This helps reading and helps to separate different topics. The problem here is that every carriage return generates a line feed and this makes reports long and illegible.

This is a server side preference, not so common around, at least on the boards I usually write on. And this is why most people get trapped in. I think. I agree that probably it's better to avoid too many carriage returns and keep paragraphs very compact, but I dislike this kind of editorial imposition. For example, If one wanted to write a list of girl names, one per line, for any reason, every name would be separated by a line feed, that's stupid IMO.

Here is an example:

Nina 7.

Brigitte 8.

Marketta 8.

Verena 4.

I don't see any workarounds and actually don't care too much to find one so I guess the only right thing to do is walk the line or walk the plank. LOL.

How difficult can it be?

Why not simply preview the report and if it looks like shit, correct it.

In any case if you post the report and then hit edit the old auto edit function that seems to give such trouble is not an issue any more as it only seems to work before the edit.

If that makes any sense.

AM[/QUOTE]It does but what I'm saying is that "normally" when you start a new line you just start a new line. What happens here is that when you start a new line a blank line is added. I know it and I usually try to check the preview, others don't and expect that no empty lines are added. At least I think this is what is happening.

Sorry about the shitty post. As Kimino mentioned, it seemed ok before sending and I never encountered this before.

I guees the first one relates to the typing head of a type writer returning to the beginning of the line. The 2nd would mean "switching lines". Not a penthouse per se but 3 very large separate rooms. Much nicer than the downstairs. Been there several times just by asking, though I think you need to do a minimum session of 45 min. KD the same with their upstairs suites. Van kampen is moving around 15 Sept but just around corner, south and west like 100m, just part an Aldi, I believe.
