RTFF was of NO USE on this one
I would like to have a little input on these two hotels, Thank You. When I RTFF I often hear about the Diplomat Hotel, but I have gotten a few different opinions. On their website, it looks pretty decent and I have heard that they are pretty GF. However There is another Hotel in Cebu for about the same price on Expedia called The Sampaguita. But I never hear about this on The Forum. Do some of you have an opinion about the Sampaguita, clean? GF? Safe? And how does it compare to the Diplomat?
Thank You!
Sampaguita Suites/Apple Tree Suites
Both of the above are closer to Mango than the Diplomat! But, that's ok,
seems like Hug Monster needs to walk a bit. Apple Tree Suites is cleaner
and has a good rooftop cafe plus free wifi.
It's a cheap and clean hotel but, it's in an area that is out of the way from the action. The room amenities is not much. There is no in-room safe. It is located near the Magellans Cross which is south of Diplomat hotel. Sampaguita Suites is cheap but, I wouldn't want to be staying around that area though. You're far from the gogo bars on Mango Avenue. There is gogo bars in the downtown area but, I would consider downdown cebu to be more dangerous especially at night time. Plus, I feel the quality of the girls are nicer at the gogo bars on Mango Avenue.

Aaah... I see now. The Sampaguita suits JRG is the one near Mango Avenue. The Sampaguita plaza garcia is the one farther away.
Thanks Everyone . . . Another Solution ???
Sampaguita is right in the Osmena circle. Kind of a rough place, but the walk 1/2 mile down Ramos street from Robinson's Mall (also in the circle) is also kind of rough (at night). Sampaguita is clean and inexpensive, but staying in the circle is not my cup of tea. Too many pick-pockets. No room-safe. The rooms are a bit less at Sampaguita than Diplomat. Have stayed at both, prefer Diplomat.
Gogo, nice vids of Diplomat, exactly as I remembered it. My room last time looked exactly like the room in your vid. Each time I stay at the Diplomat, the same problem occurs upon check-in. I use the hotel's website to book my Deluxe room (not standard, but deluxe). The standard room on the website has two single (twin in the US) beds. The deluxe has one single and one queen bed on the website. I prefer the larger bed, in fact I never book a room with single beds. But, each time upon check-in, the girl at the desk sees my passport, grabs a sheet of paper with customer names and associated room numbers hand-written on it, then gives me a standard room. The bellboy takes me to the room, which has two single beds. Have to go back down to the lobby to switch rooms. They look at me like I'm from Mars, and tell me I booked a standard room. I fish out the online receipt and show them.
Girl: Ohhh. Don't know how this happen sir. All out of deluxe room tonight. Maybe tomorrow we get you one ya. Me: Yes, and you will only charge me for the standard room tonight, yes?
Suspicious shuffling of papers, and a quick key-exchange occurs as they magically find me the deluxe room. After the first two times there, I learned just to show the online receipt with my passport upon check-in. This is the only unseemly thing that occurs there. Everything else is above-board, and they offer a modestly competitive exchange rate for dollars (45) at the front desk. Security is just outside at the entrance. In the walkway into the hotel is also a travel agency and a legit wonderful massage place (p300).
Never a problem bringing up girls there. One morning I walked a girl out (chatmate) about 8am for breakfast. About 11am I walked back in with two girls from Robinson's mall just up the street (p500 each). 2pm walked them out to the street. Napped and went back to the mall to hit the internet, and thru shear luck got another two girls from the mall, walking in about 4:30 thru the lobby with them. Walked them out about 7-8pm to the street (p500 each). This should have made every employed head in the place spin. About 10pm I went down the street to a coffee shop, oggled the street girls by the mall. Grabbed one for LT and headed back in about 11 (was too tired for funsie, just took her to cap off a wild day and have a pretty warm thing to cuddle with and play with in the morning. Agreed to p1000 for the evening). This kind of bang-bang-bang thing is rare. Thus, the Diplomat will always have a special place in my heart.
WestCoast talked about the front desk at the Diplomat trying to "Cheat" him out of a Deluxe room, and how he solved the problem. How about this idea for a solution? When I talked to the people at EXPEDIA, they told me that if I get to my hotel and have booked it by way of EXPEDIA, if I am not happy with the room I am given, I can ask the front desk to contact EXPEDIA and they will make the hotel do the right thing.
Hey WestCoast . . . thanks for the good news.
Everyone has been so helpful to me about everything and I am happy to find out just how GF the Diplomat is. The Sampaguita sounds like a bad idea, in addition to not even having a room safe in it. WestCoast... May I ask your age? Seems like you are doing well with the ladies. I may weigh 360 lbs., but people say I don't look that heavy, because I have broad shoulders and I am 6'2". I am 50, and I have a young personality, so maybe I will do okay in Cebu.
