Thanks or kamsahamnida[/QUOTE]Both Yes and No. Sometimes you might be able to convince places that usually doesn't except foreigners if your Korean is good, and I by that I mean that you can converse freely in a way that shows you understand Korea. But the number one reason that places doesn't accept foreigners is because Korean guys doesn't like to share "their" girls with foreign guys, based on different prejudices. So in order not to loose the Korean clientel they rather choose to refuse foreigners. However some places find that foreigners also make good costumers and they can usually charge a little more from foreigners. If you go during the time of the day when not many other costumers are around it will be easier as they can sneak you in and out without any Korean guys noticing it. Of course there are also some girls who doesn't wanna service foreigners, but it's mostly not the reason, and if you can speak Korean even most of those girls will feel comfortable enough to service you.

I would say that clears up things a bit. As most of the Koreans I know were either born here/raised in USA, or born/raised in USA, I have little interaction with native Korean men. I can say that the interaction I have had with them has been pleasant; albeit on a surface level only.

I would like to offer a different perspective. Being from Hawaii, there is very much an “US vs. Them” mentality in regards to Locals vs. Visitors. And by locals I mean people who were born on one of the islands. However, if you were born there and moved away to the mainland to be raised, then you were also local, but not really, sort of like half local or local by birth only.

I would face this often as being a white guy, most would assume not local. But once I opened my mouth, people knew I was a local guy and those rates and services would apply. Sometimes, nothing would change things as many locals just plainly outright “hate” white people or tourists for whatever reason. And, some people are just plain assholes. Every society has them.

I do admire the Korean nation for pulling itself out of the disaster of the war. I was here in ’91 and it was nothing like it is today. (Except maybe Hooker Hill) I also firmly believe the younger generation does not realize the sacrifice of their parents and grandparents.

So, OK, I know understand what is up. It makes sense. If you have a built up clientele of locals, then why would you jeopardize that by servicing foreigner? Only makes good business sense and you cannot criticize someone for that.

Whew, I know three languages already, but I think Korean might be difficult. Plus, who is going to teach me, “Can I suck your tits”? I am sure that is not in the ‘Korean phrasebook for travelers’.

Being that you are Korean by birth, you will be allowed entry and access to many places that any waeguk would not be. Many places will let you in just by seeing you. Also, if you are in a helpful mood, you could probably act as an escort to get other members in the front door of places that would normally turn us away if we tried to go in on our own. Keep up the effort to monger and report on every possible venue you can find. Even if the rest of us non-Koreans can't go in, the reports should make for interesting reading. Man you get around! I've been seeing your posts on the PI boards and also in Thailand (I think). Where do you get all the stamina?

Learning the language will definitely help to get you better service here in Korea. It might even get you inside some places that normally turn foreigners away. I would suggest you find someone like Anmadude to teach you the proper terms for use with the ladies. But whoever teaches you, be cautious when you first use a phrase. 22 years ago, when I was a "cherry boy" in Korea, I learned not to immediately try a phrase on a woman, unless I could make it clear to her first that someone else told me to say it. I watched many of my friends get severely beaten (not in the fun sense) by Korean girls because they were offended by what the guy said. In any event, I've visited numerous room salon establishments, and I can confirm that the higher end venues (10%) do offer stunning girls, majority of which look a bit plastic but still nonetheless gorgeous girls with slamming bodies. Prices for the higher end places are really steep, especially for just the presence of a beautiful young girl to sit and accompany you while drinking. It is good fun, but the girls weren't anything to write home about, and ranged from 4-7. Being a guest I got first choice, lucky me. I took airport bus 9k wons, from airport to Myeongdong. After having dinner, I took taxi to Gireum(pronounced Ki rum). Line 4 subway can go there for 1k won, just get down from Myeongdong Station(make sure you go the right direction, Gireum is station #417)

Was in Kangnam a while ago, and tried some of the popular HJ places. Cool asked for 75,000 won (foreigner price, at a HJ place, what the hell?!), which I politely declined (I suggest we all do, since there are other options a few meters away; their loss).
