the happiest person is not the one that has more, but the one that needs less
Living like a lower-middle class local sucks ass IMO. And especially for a gringo. Most(all?) brasilians DON'T want to live like that. They want to have a nice car, travel abroad, dress fancy, go out at "in" places, flash cash, ect.
Of course as usual to each its own. You can live freely your "third world fantasies" (honestly, that is the feeling that gives your post), who am I to judge?
Someone once said that the happiest person is not the one that has more, but the one that needs less.
I sincerely admire Hughdad for the way he lives. And for his interest in experiencing a different culture. Firsthand.
And I pity Prosal for his lack of understanding.
Love living the suck ass life...

They want to have a nice car, travel abroad, dress fancy and buy status accessories, go out at "in" places (incl. for the male population, in high-priced brothels), flash cash, ect.

Because I said I live inexpensively here you say I am lower-middle class here? I was simply replying to everyone talking about how expensive things can be here.
I have everything I need to leave in comfort and in the class I want. I was fortunate to have someone approach me 9 years ago about buying some places in Brazil. When he could not repay my loans I ended up with a house and a condo in a nice town of several hundred thousand people. I rented these out for awhile and took possession of the home a few years back, made some upgrades and brought down all the comforts for the US. (The contents of the home I sold in the US at the height of the real estate market. I saw that mess coming and sold and rented a small place for a few years.)
I have a new car here, a steady lady (with friends) and a separate building on my property which is the base of my businesses. I entertain often and my friends love hanging on my US furniture, not that cheap hard Brazil crap. I have great cable, internet and satellite service and a killer music, DVD and video game collection (more for my guests.) I have a bar with a stripper pole, a karaoke machine, and I am learning to play guitar.
I take buses because it is convenient to get into the major cities that way. I can get on a cheap overnight bus and sleep and wake up in Rio tomorrow. Or I can fly. I can be in SP in several hours.
I travel abroad all the time on business (here half the year approx.) I dress casually in my nice US wardrobe (left the suit and tie world behind). I have zero use "flashing cash and fancy accesssories". That's macho bullshit for guys with small dicks.
I buy my fruits and veggies at a farmer's market because they are the freshest you can find anywhere. They happen to also be dirt cheap. I also have a bakery I walk to at 6 am every morning for over fresh bread. There are also some great restaurants in town and I am actually partnering on a new one. A concept I came up with that (if it goes well) will be franchised. I don't smoke and occassionally drink beer. I drink good wine from my collection with most dinners. And I have free sex every morning and night (and some nooners) of the week (one or twice a week with more than one lady at a time). My lady is a beautiful young mulata sweetheart with a ever present and wide bright smile, a laugh that is contagious, beautiful round firm breasts and a cute bubble butt you can bounce a quarter off of. She is also smart and only about half as crazy as most Brazilian women (lol).
If this is a life that sucks....I love living the sucky life. Go flash your cash and fancy status accessories in the hot spots while you hold your needle dick.
(Again my apologies for starting this conversation in the wrong thread.)
Getting to the bottom of it
Now, Thong Diva, you can continue your campaign, and maybe it really did happen to you, but, it seems to me you tried to jack them up. But, if you are a good lawyer, you will realize that the most believable story is not yours.
There might be an easy explanation as to where the money went. Were there any other American lawyers in the locker room that day?
In terms of trustworthiness -- locker room attendants at L'uomo vs. American lawyers. Not even close.
