But, just to clarify a little, are you saying the clerk said there is an actual new law on Thailand's books with regard to hotel visitors that the hotel's former policeman owner intends to follow to the letter or that it is merely a new rule conjured up in the owner's mind that he has decided to impose for his particular hotel?

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this new law and don't recall reading about it on the usual Bangkok news update sites like Stickboy Bangkok and so on.
