First night in a two bedroom apartment and the second night in an efficiency. I like the place but it is not for me for more than two nights. Again, the place is okay but not great. Best to stay here long term for good rates. Met up with DS and GE at De Bonto Koe, a classy restaurant with good atmosphere and Henny the owner, a very nice man, remembered my name after only one short meeting. Step out the door and walk 20 paces and you are in Some Place Else, or continue walking to the street and you pass Chico's everything is very close.

After I excused myself I took the girls to 183 which was about 50 metres up the road but they didn't like the atmosphere so we headed to the Venue while we were walking to the corner to get a taxi I was accosted by a nicely dressed lady but I declined even though she could see I with 3 ladies she tried to talk with me, she was polite, maybe she wanted to join my group? So where were all you guys there are some desperate ladies here looking for men.

I checked out a few cheaper hotels and liked the cleanliness and newness of this one. Its a good budget hotel and the cheapest room is 175 pesos a night with fan and share shower so if you are running out of money you can find a decent? Room for the night.

Treating them with respect, kindness and being a little generous really goes over well with them and surprised me how accommodating they were. I've got to go I have some naked young ladies waiting, sorry to be rude.

If I have a chance, I'll stop by and get the price list and post it, but it's a better value than Las Casitas and Galleria. Bilbo told me that the latter smelled, so I guess it's time to cross it off the list of recommended places to stay, since that's the second time I've heard that comment in as many months.

DS stayed for a couple of nights at Red Knight Garden, with a different apartment each night. It was the first time I had actually been inside any of the units, and I must say I was disappointed. Though the exterior of the complex is very attractive, and the interiors are quite clean, the furniture looked like it cost about $5 at K Mart ten years ago. Cheap and, I'm told by DS, extremely uncomfortable. The TVs look like something you used to by at Sears when I was a child. On the other hand, you can get an efficiency apartment for slightly more than Php1,000 a night, which gives you access to the pool and the small restaurant. On the nights that DS was there, the place was full and I'm told it's full most of the time, so I guess the owner, Ray, has no need to invest any funds in attractive furnishings.

The downside of the place is that it appears to be occupied by older (as in my age) expats who love to gossip. So, if you're there with multiple sex partners over several days, you may become the center of the gossip mill. Personally, I would not care, but some guys out there might get put off by this.

GE, I posted stinky Galleria posts about two years ago. Nevertheless, I didn't notice mold smell last time I was there. It may be the room, and it may simply be some idiot threw a wet towel on the carpet the night before. I wouldn't rule out Galleria.

A good rule of thumb in the Philippines is to look at the room before you spend your money. If they can get away with it, they'll give you the worst room at the highest price.

I think the 206, 207, 306, 307 are larger rooms and have windows looking out over the pool courtyard. It's a small pool, but might be good if you or your friends have kids.

I stayed in Galleria for five days I couldn't take it anymore my room had a sickly sweet smell it was smaller than the one I saw advertised on their site and when I queried this they said they could put another bed in the room but where they would put it I couldn't see unless it was a double bunk. I thought I was getting a triple bed room because I like a lot of space but it ended up being a small room with a double bed and some weird odour for the same price rather than argue I decided to move on once I got my bearings.

I checked out a few hotels and pensions because I am staying a long while wanted to make sure my money lasted. I am living above my income but only this trip as its a find out journey and I like what I am finding out.

I must be becoming a native. I took the girls to Red Knight Gardens for lunch and to check it out its a long way from my hunting ground the fare from my hotel was 97 pesos going and 85 coming back can't figure the difference must be the meter. Anyway it is a very nice oasis if you want the comforts of home. We ate there beside the pool and the food was excellent my shock was the bill 800 pesos for 4 people! I'm now used to paying on average 130 pesos per meal for us. That works out to be only $22 in my money for 4 people! And I am worried about myself as I am starting to think in pesos.

Red Knight Gardens is set in a gated village so it must be safer than safe as I walk around dark streets here late at knight and feel as safe as home and as wary I'm not stupid. We checked out a single bedroom flat in the compound very nice and better prices for long term than the hotel rooms. I didn't bring them with me so I will post another day. We also had a look at a bedroom apartment outside the compound across the way. We were impressed even me, lovely large lounge room, large kitchen with wet area? I think and two bedrooms with nice bathroom. The same price as my pokey little room in Galleria. Apart from the musty smell, needs airing I think, very luxurious living. If you wanted to impress a woman staying there would do it, probably not as effective as DS says the Marco Polo would be, but my companions were very taken with it and wanted to stay there before they saw the obscene food prices LOL

I asked the girls later when we were eating in the carinderia which place they prefered to eat and they all said the carinderia I could see what they meant they are used to noise and action and RKG was very quiet a little piece of western civilization even the lawns and gardens could make you think you were in Australia somewhere.

I am staying in Sampaguita Tourist Hotel like I said its a backpackers hotel basically its self serve they say they clean the rooms every 3 days but if you stay longer you have to ask them to clean it I'm a bit confused on that because I asked one of the girls if they could ask about cleaning after nothing happened for 5 days and a little later a cleaning lady comes while I'm still in my underwear and proceeds to sweep the floor, what the? I tell my friend to ask the lady to come back later and somethings were said and then the girls go out for breakfast, I'm going out later, and I am left in my underwear and this cleaning lady I keep closing the door because my laptop is open and I'm in my underwear and I don't want passerbys looking in, she keeps opening the door because she is in the room with a manyiakas? A lot of places I checked out were too expensive for my long term budget or too dirty or run down if they did fit my budget. If I was staying 5 days or less a nice hotel would be best thing to do as a little luxury gives you a boost. I picked the Sampaguita because it felt clean and didn't smell and had tiled floors and had a light an airy feel compared to the other pension hotels and was twice the size of my hotel room I was in another triple room and size of a room is important to me I like a lot of space if I can get it.

They have triple, twin and single occupation in about 208 rooms the building is 4 years old and is set about 2 blocks from the main road and is a little quiet if that is possible in the Philippines. It is probably as close or closer to ground zero as the Galleria

Single fan room with common CR is P150 thats about $4. 15 in Australia if you want cable TV its P200 or you could forget the TV and opt for bath and CR if you want everything its P250 a night

If you want aircon with everything its P475 for a single.

Double starts at P225 and works its way up to everything P600 with aircon and hot and cold shower not all the rooms have hot.

Triple starts at basic fan room P400 to P700 for aircon everything

There are some expats there who have tried to hit on my girls when I'm not around offered them money for sex, vey bad form guys, my girls were not impressed with them and if they had been with a Filipino instead of with me maybe they would be in trouble from some macho Filipino.

Thanks Bilbo for another excellent post. I didn't go into the rooms in the facility across the road at Red Knight. Perhaps they have nicer furniture than the places I saw near the pool.

I think you're having a rather unique Davao experience. At least among all the expats I've ever met here, I never knew one that wound up with three live-in companions. And, having met them, I can certainly vouch for how cute they are.

DS left town yesterday and left the country this morning, but we had an excellent time while he was staying here, staying up late, drinking some good reds and just shooting the bull. No wild times but great fun nevertheless. The last night that he was here we went to Claude's (Cafe de Ville) on Rizal St. Though I've even there several times, I think it was the most enjoyable meal I've ever had in Davao. Between DS, my wife and I we killed two bottle of an excellent Bourgeuil, and were so impressed with the wine that DS bought two bottles and I bought one to take home. I guess DS packed his in his luggage which is sort of a reverse migration for that wine. We were joined after the meal by the lovely Rose, a truly pretty and very nice lady that DS has been seeing. She could not join us for dinner as she had to work late that evening, but she did join us for French cheesecake. The meal was not inexpensive, but it was truly French, took about 2 hours to eat, and the company was excellent.

DS thinks that Bilbo's experience as reported here is bound to attract hoards of additional guys to Davao. I hope it does. The city can use the money and the girls can use the companionship.

I think those to whom you refer as bottom feeders are actually quite prevalent throughout SE Asia and most of Africa. Most of these guys couldn't get a woman to look at them twice in their own countries, but somehow, when they get off the plane here they assume: (1) that every woman they see is a prostitute or somehow otherwise available and (2) that they have become God's gift to the women of the world. There seems to be an endless supply of these losers, and I think the best way to deal with them, the next time they approach one of the girls is to tell the girl to smile and to explain that she's absolutely available, and in his case the price will be $1, 000 short time. Last week when GoodEnough mentioned having viewed the place where Bilbo was living with his three ladies, I had a feeling he would have problems. The basic rule is this: the cheaper the hotel/pension house, the sleazier the clientele staying there. I could not stay in one of these places, certainly not with my Jen, easily a 9.6 in looks and a 9.3 in body. Same with my Rose here in Davao and her 36 C tits. The "catfish" (bottom feeders) would be propositioning either one of them constantly.

At Red Knight Garden, Rose went swimming in the evening wearing a tiny bikini, her huge rack hanging out. The old guys did a lot of staring but no one bothered her. Yes, I was there but still there never was a problem. Red Knights takes about 30 minutes to get to downtown and will cost you about $ 1.50 US at current rates of exchange. I tried two different rooms, 2 bedroom and efficiency (no one bedrooms were available) to get a feel for the place. I got only a small discount on the 2 bedroom and no discount on the efficiency, paying P1120/nt. Staying a week or longer I could have gotten the efficiency for P900 or so.

Beers here are P40 and shots of Jameson whiskey (what the Kid drinks) are P55. This is very reasonable. No good red wines here at all, of course. Food is okay and priced the same as at most places. Remember, you can cook in all the rooms and the two bedroom had a great kitchen.

For inexpensive meals that are good try the five (5) Filipino Barbecue Restaurants surrounding Ground Zero (corner J Camus St & Illustre St). They open at 5:00PM and close from 01:00AM to 03:30AM depending on which restaurant. I took May (see nude photos here) and four of her friends here one Sunday at 11:00PM. I had 2 beers ant they ate. Cost was P500 for all with juice drinks also.

I wonder if Bilbo noticed a young man 6 ft tall, 300 lbs at the Red Knights Garden. This is the Kid, my nephew from NYPD. He is in Davao now on his vacation and at Red Knights in my former two bedroom. He is already legend there and everyong knows him. The place is perfect for him. He and I parted ways a week before my departure for the USA. Today was the worst day of my stay in Davao nothing could prepare me for it. The girls have been a bit cool lately even after I took them out to nice places one was asking for an expensive gift for her brother, bit rich I thought after I had been buying them the odd clothes and nice treats to expensive places.

Though the Slayer's posts are funny, they are also accurate, and I cannot take issue with the factual basis of his last post. Maybe I could book adjoining apartments for DS and Brad at Red Neck (sorry Red Knight) Garden for the next sojourn in the fair city of Davao.

But I digress. I really wanted to talk about the newly-emerging Damosa Gateway; a new area in Davao across the street from Swiss Deli on Lanang Rd. I have already written about the Indian and Spanish Restaurants there. However, on Friday, after a nice lunch with some colleagues at Taj Minar, the Indian place, we walked across the street to see the progress being made on a new office building to which my company will move its operations in April. It was then I discovered an entire new world back there; a new mall, several local restaurants, lots of shops and a huge square with tables and chairs for dining al fresco. I had no idea this area even existed. It's brand spanking new. It's immaculate, and it's all very well done.

The potentially exciting news for all you horny devils out there is that one of the new buildings, already in operation, is a huge call center, which is, of course, the locus of dozens of young women working in their first jobs. Where do they all go to eat lunch? At one of the several inexpensive outlets in the adjacent mall. Where do they sit? In the outdoor courtyard so they're immediately visible to any lecherous eyes passing by. I know that this will become a serious hunting ground for my friend DS, but there appears to be plenty of opportunity to go around and what's even better, since these call centers operate 24/7, the women should be on view throughout the day and night, as it's an extremely safe part of town and they can go outside without worries. Had I but known of this place during DS's recent visit, I would have taken him there, but there's always a next time in the Slayer's case.

I did not have time to check out all the shops, except for a new pet store and I had no time to wander around the mall, but I may do so today if time permits.

I now understand why there's a new "Micro Hotel" direclty across the street. This hotel is part of a US chain, and the rooms are about Php2,300 a night. It's not at all fancy and there's no pool, but it's very clean if somewhat spartan. The hotel is immediately adjacent to the Hola Espana Restaurant, and within 25 meters of the Indian, Vietnamese, and Japanese restaurants, as well as two new bars.
