I think I am a little spoiled by a couple of girls I know who take pride in their work and have some respect for me. Getting the money out of the way seems to clear the air for better things. Also I am used to the North American habit of paying up front.

Most guys fold. Never pre-pay. Always make it clear that payment is after satisfactory delivery of services, not before. No deposits either.
