Don't know what everyone else's reasoning is for loving this place so much but I'm out. It's simply not worth it. Europe peddles much better, much prettier working girls for less than Thailand does. The Chinese tourists have already invaded the FKKs, so it will be the Indians next in Germany. Indians en masse haven't invaded AC yet as there are no direct flights to Manila from any Indian city. They would prefer to go to BKK and Pattaya as the package deals are so cheap and it's heavily promoted in India by the Thai government.

Thailand is OK if you get away from BKK and the tourist traps that now charge silly money. If you get out into the sticks up Isaan way you can still find very nice women for 500 a fuk and no bad attitude. You do find the occasional starfisher but there was always a few of them anywhere. As a BKK old hand its not worth the flight any more, south america is a better deal or the Gambia for a GFE.

And add in ST hotel and with a few drinks you're up near 200. But sorry, I think 140 is out of line as well. Thailand scene has certainly gone downhill, and is mostly coasting on old glory. However, while your assessment of Thailand today is spot-on, I think you're a bit too optimistic about other places, Europe in particular. It's difficult to find more than, say, a 100 women in one place, 50 euro is by no means the universal going rate (more like the best deal to be had), and service is not all that straightforward or without tricks.

One thing Thailand used to have that other prostitution scenes (except maybe the Philippines) never developed was a truly friendly attitudes and normal girls. In the old times, I often had a feeling that a girl enjoyed, or at least didn't mind being with me, and that money was just facilitating that connection. Thai working girls were easy going, happy to please (within reason), not the least bit rushed and surprisingly [I]normal[/I]. Normal to the point that punters were spending days, weeks with them, and even marrying them, an act of insanity that wouldn't even cross your mind elsewhere in the world.

In almost all other places (and increasingly in Thailand), prostitution is highly transactional. It's 100% obvious that the girl would rather be elsewhere if it wasn't for the money, they don't make any effort to hide that. They do their best to offer as little service as they can get away with, the good ones going through the agreed upon motions and put a nice (if unconvincing) act, the bad ones are not reluctant to aggravate you if it helps get you out faster (or just for kicks).

Out there in the world, even if some girls are cheaper, it is always perfectly clear that you're dealing with dregs of society stuck in a rock-bottom lifestyle that you wouldn't want much to do with after shooting your load (even if they're good looking). Neither $s nor visas were available once upon a time- now both Indians and Chinese have them too. Seasoned punters have nothing to brag or prove to no one- new comers think they need to. First off, your prices are all wrong and your asserting that the WG are prettier is strictly a personal preference when you say " you could have gotten the same thing in Belgium for 50 euros from a white girl". But, to answer your question, why is Thailand such a hot destination? Well, there's a lot of other things to do besides monger that make it worthwhile. The food is delicious and cheap. The interior of Thailand holds a lot of other attractions that are completely fascinating. I'm guessing you never took a train ride up north to visit Old Sukhothai or any other of the expansive ruins. But, I do suggest you actually try it for yourself and see why is a great destination, whether you are mongering or not.
