What the F**k!!!
I just read a report at www.pattayaone.net/news that the tax on <12% alc. beverages was going to be raised by a further 20B per 100 ml!!! 40B/100 for the hard stuff.
Holy crap! That's over $3/liter, US, added to the already somewhat high price for brew in Siam.
Is this true? If so, tourism in the LOS is OVER!!!!
EDIT! I just realized it's now April 1, (not yet here though) in Pattaya!!!!
NYUK, NYUK!
I got punked!!!
... My advice to you, in particular if you are pussy conscious, avoid them. Don’t be attracted to them. They are frigid because they are taken out frequently and moreover, their pussies are useless, you will be digging in a wide hole. Go for plumpy and fattish ones who are never taken by Europeans; you will really enjoy having sex with them. Their pussies are tight and they quiver in your hands like fish out of water...
555! That's a good one! So, if I read correctly between the lines, you would like that all the other punters come here to fuck the fat ones, (and then, leaving the slim and sexy ones available for you alone?), and you believe that most of them are going to follow your advice? What kind of shaky argument is it? Nice try, but if it were true, everybody should rather stay at home and chase the ugliest girls: as almost nobody wants to fuck them, they surely have (according to you) the tightest pussies. Be careful though: if you succeed to start a new trend, even the fat and ugly ones will soon have a "wide hole" too instead of a nice and tight pussy! :D
... but, obviously you are a 'pattaya pro. ' any new guys coming to town make sure you hook up with rain man to learn the pattaya ropes...
you don't have to be a "pro", you just need to have a functional brain and some common sense in order to fully and safely enjoy pattaya and other red light districts in the land of smiles. sure, if you act stupidly, you will get into trouble sooner or later. everywhere, and not only with freelancers from beach road or walking street!
granted, it might be a little bit safer with girls working in a bar for those who are sometimes too drunk (or born too dumb) to take a few basic precautions, but paying a barfine does not garantee you that you won't have any problem. shit can also happen with go-go and bar girls. i already mentioned several sad stories that happened with girls picked up in bars in a previous report, but here's just one example: http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/2768/cats-go-go-bar-raided-by-police-****-employees-found/
there's plenty of good advices available in this forum and elsewhere for the newbies, so, just read them if you are new to the game in thailand. the land of smiles is still a relatively safe place for mongering, even with freelancers (most of them are honest girls, the bad ones and the thieves are a very little minority), provided that you don't act like a fool.
On the Stickman site I've read about a certain police scam where they'll stop a foreigner at the bus station en route to or arriving from Pattaya and search bags: if they find Viagra or other drugs and the guy has no prescription for it, they threaten to take him to the station unless he pays his "fine" on the spot. I seem to remember also reading about a certain section of Sukhumvit where they might pull the same thing, but don't quote me. Anyone else remember reading that? It also could have been on another forum.
I was searched twice myself already in Ekkamai. Both times they asked for my passport but didn't even open it. Looks like the cover page is enough nowadays, I must come from a very important part of the world where every citizen is a VIP or something :) Anyhow:
The first time I enquired about their search and the guy explained to me that he was looking for viagra or other drugs. He found nothing.
The second time the officer found 1 1/2 kamagra pill. He explained to me that I could get into troubles, that I should get a prescription for next time but that the quantity found was small enough for him to let me go this time. He kept the stuff of course and I wished him a nice session at the arb ob nuat.

Are you somehow saying that Arabs, Indians and black guys have small cocks?
You won't find these ladies in all bars; however, some bars do have one or two.
I know one gal in Pattaya who matches your specs and gets laid every other year. She would even pay you if you shag her (she's done it before). Interested? PM me...

Anyone been searched at Ekkamai and been found with actual vitamins? Would that be a problem?
I always travel with enough vitamins for a couple weeks.

Haven't read 3 posts back before asking?
Put them in a safe place before arriving at Ekkamai and you'll be okay. FYI the small pocket above the right pocket of your jeans isn't exactly safe, in fact it's probably the least safe place, it's the place they checked directly both times. 2nd was the pack of cigs.

Were you actually talking about normal vitamins like vitamin A, B, C, etc.?
If that's the case, that wouldn't be a prob. They know their stuff and they know what they are looking for. The second time they searched me I had many other kinds of pills in my bag (asthma medication, various antibiotics, etc.) and he didn't even look twice at them.

Perhaps one of the Thai speakers on the forum could help us out here about exactly what the law says but it is certainly the case that being in possession with certain drugs without a prescription in Thailand will land you in trouble with the law. Another Thai forum that has nothing to do with the hobby had a story a few weeks back that a young falang guy was facing 1 year in prison for possession of 2 valium tablets without a prescription. But exactly which medicines will land you in trouble is not clear!
I have heard many different stories about what is and what is not against the law. Some medicines are supposed to be available on prescription only in Thailand even though they are not controlled that way in some European countries. Or course, many Thai pharmacies do not seek a prescription. But that is no defense.
We should all contact the Tourism Authority of Thailand and ask which drugs require a prescription in Thailand and express our concern about the fact that the police are shaking down tourists in this way. Write to your newspapers and TV stations at home and even to the Thai embassy. Perhaps they will then get the message that just like all the other scams that go on in Thailand, this one will hurt their tourist numbers.

I happened to have such a list. Can't find it any more but shouldn't be a problem to get it.

Pharmacies in Thailand are not allowed to sell them either. They probably pay the police for that privilege. So should everyone do if caught carrying prescription drugs.

Oh come on, it is not really a scam and most people caught with prescription drugs in Thailand without having a proper prescription have actually bought them in Thailand. They have absolutely no right to possess these drugs, neither in Europe nor in Thailand. In Europe we're more lenient and control the supply side much more than the demand side but that does not mean that it is legal to buy them without a prescription.
To me such a campaign is an exaggeration.

For medical history reasons I travel with a few days' supply of opiate-based painkillers. They would certainly be illegal in Thailand if obtained without a prescription. My doctor prescribed them to me as a one-off prescription, and in order to receive them I handed that prescription into the pharmacy, so now I have no record of the prescription (this is the UK we're talking about). How do I cover myself? This must happen to others. Would a letter (in English) from my GP be enough to fend off the attention of the local police? Any thoughts?

Why don't you go to a public hospital in Thailand (yes, foreigners can do that), explain your problem and get a prescription there from a local doctor? Public hospitals are really cheap in Thailand, even for foreigners, and it should not be very difficult to obtain the appropriate prescription, especially if you already know what you need.

A definite YES. Especially if u know that you have the right to possess such medicine. Stand your ground and keep this letter with you, no prob for sure.
FYI French prescriptions look like letters.

I don't know which is the situation of Mouse1 but I wouldn't recommend a tourist to go to a public hospital if he can't speak Thai or isn't accompanied by someone who does. Been in several public hospitals and in none of them the staff, especially administrative, could speak English. Good luck with the registration as a patient if you can't explain your problem, fill out the registration form, etc.
