1. How does a girl enter in this job? No it's not a bad pimp waiting innocent girls in front of the high school, offering free drug so that girls will become addicted after her first shot and ready to do anything for the next shots including going into prostitution. There is also no international conspiracy of a powerful criminal human traffic organization. Actually, in Colombia the organized crime is not interested in prostitution, prefer by far narco-traffic, extortions and kidnap for a living. Prostitution is simply not that lucrative in Colombia for brothel owners as I will explain it later with the figures. No, the explanation is way easier how girls get in prostitution: the desperately need of money. She comes from a low social class, has no one to support or help her, can't afford to pay for study, has no skills or experience and she desperately needs money. Most of the girls in prostitution had a baby when teenager, with a teenage father unable and unwilling to support her and her baby.
2. If there is no organized crime behind prostitution, are the girls pimped? Yes, some stupid girls are pimped and give money the earned from prostitution to the boyfriend they love. It's however a very small minority, as in latino culture girls are educated that boys always have to pay the food, drinks and leisure to the girls and that in a relationship men have to support the financial necessities of women. Girls have therefore a very strong attitude of independence when in prostitution. However, if the money is not for the boyfriend, it's definitively used to support family. As family usually has no clue that the girls are in prostitution, it is definitively not to be compared with pimping.
3. Are the girls addicted to prostitution? Yes, definitively as they discover how to earn quickly (I would not say easily) a lot of money without any skill, diploma or experience. However, it's just for a period of time, between 20 and 30 years old. In Colombia you will rarely see old women in prostitution as you might see it often in Europe or USA. Most girls get out of the business when they enter in a serious relationship with someone that can support her financial needs. I know and follow a lot of girls with facebook over the years. Girls get married, get children and have a normal life far from the prostitution world. I always wondered if the husbands had any clue of her past life, I guess not.
4. Does prostitution destroy the girls socially? Basically I would say that there are 2 types of working girls in Colombia: the day workers and the night workers. Girls working in day brothels or day massage parlors do it because they can't work by night for family reasons. Even if there is never a formal contract with the brothels, they keep usually with the same brothel and same timeframe as if they would go to work at office. They work in a safe environment, will never accept to see customers outside the brothel, have no emotional link with customers and family just believe they have a regular job. These girls are very stable socially. Some girls work by day and by night, but very soon will realize that working by night is way more interesting financially and will keep it to the night scene. The counterpart is that the night scene is way more dangerous, with creepy and drunk dudes, in an environment stimulating alcohol. Girls work hard, sleep little and start to drink or to take drugs to deal with it. They are usually far from family and are socially isolated as they live when other sleep and sleep when others live.
5. Does prostitution affect their sexuality or emotional balance? Surprisingly not that much, even if she is fucking a dozen guys a day, as far as I could see. Actually, the vast majority of sexual interaction has absolutely no effect on her, a simple quick moment with nearly no feelings or emotions. Some are bad experiences with a stupid jerk, including sometimes violent and dangerous experiences and some are nice moments with mutual chemistry including genuine orgasm. Prostitution nearly never affects sexual desire, on the contrary. Some girls were very inexperienced with poor sexuality before starting in the business. Prostitution made them more open minded to sexuality and creating a need of sexual satisfaction that surprisingly stays unsatisfied as the vast majority of sexual contacts are quick, poor in feelings and emotions. Girls are open to enjoy sex, including with customers, this is basically how some girls explained it to me.
6. Is a prostitute able to make the difference and enjoy making love with her boyfriend when having sex with dozens of customers? Yes definitively, it doesn't affect her private life. Just think about how you as a customer manage the difference of having sex with prostitutes and having sex at home. Believing that only men can have sex without emotional relation is a myth.
7. Are the girls exploited by brothel owners and other players in the sex industry? Definitively not in Colombia. This is how things work in the clubs of Zona de Tolerencia. Girls enter, give their false name, sometimes have to show ID to check they are not minor, put their stuff in a locker, go to work and at the end of the night get the money the club had safely collected for them. Girls are paid 60 000 to go to the room, and only 7 000 is for the club. As a comparison, in clean and legal Switzerland, 33% of earnings go to the brothel, in some countries is goes till 50%. In addition, the club pays the girls for each strip show she makes and the club gets the money only from the drinks. Girls are fee to enter and exit the clubs and jump from one club to another during the night. However, the higher end clubs have restrictions, starting with El Castillo and of course all the exclusive clubs in zona norte. Girls need to respect time schedule and cannot exit freely or has to pay the bar fine, between 80 000 and 150 000. This is because these higher end clubs have a living with customers doing all nighter and paying the barfine to go out the club with the girl. In exclusive clubs, the rooms are way more expensive, usually 150 000, but the client pays it directly to the bar and pays the girl her part, usually 300 000, so there is still a comfortable % of earnings for the girls. Keep in mind that in exclusive clubs, the cost of building is also way higher.
8. Are the girls checked for health? No definitively not, there is no legal obligation for that and clubs don't do it. The only legal obligation is that the girl needs to be over 18, that's the only thing the club will check.
9. Are the girls different from the exclusive clubs of Zona Norte and the brothels of Zona de Tolerencia? No, this is a myth, girls try different clubs, you might pay the very same girl 400 000 in Zona Norte and fuck her the very next evening for 50 000 in Zona de Tolerencia. You might even see her in front of a motel doing street action!
10. Why the hell would a girl accept to fuck for 50 000 if she can do it elsewhere for 400 000? Well, when she works in a club in Zona de Tolerencia, she earns some 400 000 a night with the strip shows and the different sessions in the room. If she goes to a club in Zona Norte, she will wait all night till she finally can earn that 400 000, and sometimes she might end up the night with nothing.
11. Why if it's for the same girl it's worth to pay her 400 000 if you can pay her 50 000 elsewhere? Because even if it's the same girl, she will definitively not behave and act the same way in one scene or another. In a club in Zona de tolerencia, you will just be one of the dozen anonymous guys she has to fuck without chemistry and in a small time frame, as they start to knock on the door after 10 min to free the room. In an exclusive club in Zona Norte, you will be the customer she has waited for all night. She has her daily sexual needs and you will be the only one to be able to fulfill it, so she will want to make love. If in addition you have chosen to take her out of the club and pay afterwards instead of upfront, your chances of getting GFE are nearly guaranteed.
12. If the same girls can work in Zona Norte as in Zona de Tolerencia, why the hell the girls seem more beautiful in Zona Norte than in Zona de Tolerencia? Well, simply natural selection. Girls try different clubs until they find the most suitable clubs where they can make most money. Only beautiful girls can cope with high competition of Zona Norte. Average girls will be the girls that will finish the night without one single customer and will prefer Zona de Tolerencia. In addition, Zona Norte has sometimes also genuine semi-pros that simply would not imagine working in infamous Zona de Tolerencia and fucking with dozens of drunk guys. They just need 2 or 3 customers a week to pay their studies.
13. How much does a girl earn in the different scenes? As explained earlier, the main difference is between the day scene and the night scene. In the day scene, a girl earns around 100 000 till 200 0000 a day in a brothel, which seems low, but 2 5000 000 or 5 000 0000 a month is a comfortable income in Colombia. In a day massage parlor, it might be closer to 200 000 than 100 0000 a day. At night, a girl earns around 250 000 till 500 000 a day, 500 000 on week end and 250 000 during the week, no matter if it's in a low level brothel or exclusive club as explained earlier.
14. How does a girl evaluate the acceptable price for an all nighter? The typical mistake a customer makes when negotiating an all nighter is to believe that the girl will evaluate the effort she has to make during that night. Actually the girl doesn't care if it's to escort a charming guy in a cool night event or to heavily sport fuck all night with a dirty sex addict. She will only look what she will not earn that night being not in the club. Roughly she earns 100 000 an hour during peak time, do the math. Therefore she will ask more money on Friday and Saturday night between 8 pm and 2 am than during week days or after 2 am.
15. Are the girls working in Colombia the same as those working in Saint Maarten, Aruba and Curacao? Any girl you will meet in Aruba, Curacao or Saint Maarten will tell you that she can only work abroad far from her family and would never be able to do it in her home country. A great selling talk I also believed when I mongered in these islands. Truth is that all working girls in Bogota have heard about success stories of a 3 months contract in these islands, want to work or have worked at least once in one of these islands.

It's not impossible to have a happy marriage with a former Colombiana working girl as all girls will end up in a normal life after sometime. However, chances are very high that she will simply see you as a privileged client and additional incomes. Look yourself in the mirror next her and be honest with yourself: do you both together really look like a genuine couple? Don't make a fool of you and if you are looking for a serous relationship, make it much more likely to succeed by finding her elsewhere than in a brothel.
18. Are all Colombianas potential prostitutes? This is a very common mistake made by gringos who can only meet prostitutes and therefore believe all Colombianas are prostitutes. Official statistics say that there are 14 000 prostitutes in Bogota. I believe it is way overestimated compared to the complete overview I made of the Bogota scene, but even 14 000 is not much for a city of 8 000 000.
