Rio de Janeiro Reports

There are a few reasons why tourists are not always well received in France :

1° France has a huge influx of tourists, and most of them go to the same places. Unfortunately, they become the commercial prey of specialized touristic businesses. These businesses do not care about repeat business, and make no effort to provide good service.

2° The French are very proud of their language and culture. If one addresses them directly in English, without even having the good education of saying "s'il vous plait", then it is perceived as an offence.

3° Americans have the cultural trait to speak and have fun in a loud manner. For this reason they are often perceived as loudmouths.

4° In Rio de Janeiro, a middle-class gringo is perceived by most people as being of a higher social class. In Paris, the same middle-class gringo has zero social status.

So good advice is to avoid overly touristic spots, speak softer, dress decently, and learn a couple of French words. You will see that the stereotypes are wrong.

If you want to experience bad service and client contempt, try some fashionable restaurants in New-York or in Los Angeles !

Not to mention, my Francais is my second best language which is not saying nothing. I will digress, the Cognac visit and sampling left me in awe of the art. I get the real sense that people here in the Rio thread think that the 'filthy joints' are somehow less safe than the termas or apartments. It was understated in many of the responses to my posts. I disagree with that sentiment. A lot of guys go over to VM and so forth to get their monger stripes but never session, so come away with this horrible picture based on the environment there. It's just not true.

In reality, VM and BA85 girls typically play much, much safer than any of the termas or apartment girls. There was typically no exchange of fluids in those sessions, the girls play it very safe. Most don't even want to kiss or be eaten out.

*However*, the termas girls and apartment girls go all out with BBBJ, DFK, DATY, usually CIM and so forth every time I am there. They don't care about STD transmission modes other than penetration. Thanks, but are you trying to insinuate that people might still come to ISG>Brasil>Rio to find information about where sex can be found in Rio, what it costs, and what it's like? This is a thead about Ingrid of L'uomo and whats she's up to, the closing of Help, the Olympic bid, the superiority of FSU over Rio, the importance of becoming fluent in Portuguese for the purpose of finding a Brasilian girlfriend, life in a favela, and for teaching basic sex ed to stubborn kamikazes. ;)

This I agree with. VM and the Centro are a mess, but that doesn't necessarily mean the places there are dirtier. However, I do think that the Centro women have a higher incidence of STDs, if only because client turnover there is a lot higher. Furthermore, there are some really grim places in the Centro. Remember BA113? And down around the Central do Brasil you have a street scene that rivals anything in 1970s NYC for sleaze.

However, to give termas their due, the women do at least get very regular check-ups, whereas at a place like BA85, it's catch as catch can. So if a woman has something that's asymptomatic, she's going to probably be transmitting it for a long time at BA85.
