Most times the chicks are just hanging out with their friends and it is not about business or some other guy. They are not hookers 24/7; they have regular lives and leisure too. You just have to catch them at an I need this money time and not an I just want to hang out with my friends time.

And that can be an issue with many ethnic groups visiting, not just Indians, the great unwashed Poms of the past come to mind too.

Tho with Indians as a grouping, this issues are much more culturally based around respect, things like bargaining, cheap charlie, grouping, is something of an anathema to Thai culture.

Pattaya has seen many "eras" in the past 2 decades:

The era of the old farts, back around 2010 and before the retirees from Europe / US were the majority. Some say that was the golden era.

Then came the era of the Russians. They didn't really interact much with the bars, and were mostly families.

Then the era of the Chinese. Also not really bar customers, mostly tour groups.

Then Covid. The death of like half of the businesses in Pattaya.

Then Koreans. Great for the girls and some bars, but they inflated the prices for everyone else.

And now Indians. They want the bars but their behaviour, cheapness and personal hygiene make it a challenge for bar owners and girls.

Wonder what the next era will be.

Yesterday, I was sitting in a bar on Soi 6. It was around 8 pm Across the street was a bar with lots of pretty girls. One of them was holding up a sign that read: "Lady drinks only 195 baht. " Before, I thought the bar owners were just too stupid to realize they were ruining their business. Since yesterday, I've been thinking they were doing it on purpose.

Needless to say, the bar was empty.

The real golden age or the development age was before Aids ie before 1982. The comercial Golden Age was between 1989 to 2009 when Pat was the best place in the world to get laid. It has been in decline ever since but it was still pretty good up to Covid.

Post Covid, however, Pattaya seems to have entered the era of over tourism noted by a change in attitude among the providers and with discernably less quality girls offering less quality service at inflated prices. I think Pattaya may be through as a high-quality mongering destination for discerning punters and is rapidly becoming a sex tourist trap. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think so.

In March 2025, I noticed as many unescorted farang women as unescorted farang men. Sometimes just an individual woman, sometimes groups as large as about 4. Samui has evolved from a punters destination 10 years ago to couples and families. I doubt the same will happen in Pattaya unless the reputation as P4P capital is softened.

Do you remember how much Thais make in 1 day? 350 baht. Imagine a bar in your country where 1 drink would set you back almost 1 day's salary.

That's exactly why the bar was empty. A dozen really pretty girls outside at 8 pm, and no one came in. LOL.
