Thank you for paying back your knowledge debt to ISG, CB. It is now fully paid and no more commercials, I mean reports are needed. Blink.
I was once in Minsk and loved it, even though I did not meet any woman. But I agree totally that it is different in some strange indescribable way. Like a time capsule, but where just 50% of the world got stuck in history and the rest made it to iPhone age. As long as you do not enter politics you are quite safe though. Hope to find time to catch up with you CB on your Belorussian adventures.
B
Barba, that has to be the most apt observation about Minsk I have read in a long time. I could not have said it better myself. Yes, if we are ever in Minsk at the same time or any other European city then I would love to meet up for a few drinks and conversation!
What is the current attitude towards foreigners of non-caucasian descent?
Is Minsk a safe place to visit?
Yes Minsk is very safe place to visit. No doubt. I 've been studying here more than 3 months, Still No police stopped me and asked passport. This situation is very common in Russia.
Nowadays, especially in Minsk, there are lots of Chinese, Korean, Arab, Turkish, Nigerian students. I've never heard a sad story about racist behavior of Minsk people. However, If you are outside with a BL girl, and if you plan to use public transportation (PT) , if you do not use Russian, you should be a little cautious. Because you may face with a nationalist BL guy who may tell you some cruel words about you and your mother.
I've never experienced such situation, although I am often using PT with my BL girlfriend. Yes we did some naughty things in the buses, metros even in pick hours. Nobody interrupted our sessions. Maybe I was luck, maybe my charming smile helped me, maybe my big body, wide shoulders saved me, who knows.
Another hint, if you face with such situations, just leave the place, do not even think about fighting! It is very very bad idea in BL. There are lots of bad stories about BL prisons. If you are not Michael Scofield, just forget this option and run.
What is the current attitude towards foreigners of non-caucasian descent?
Is Minsk a safe place to visit?
I think it depends upon where in the world you are from. If you are Turkish then the attitude is very poor to open disdain. To a lesser extent if you are Italian or from the caucasus. If you are from South America you might get on alright. I have met many women who love to Latin dance and speak highly of Venezualian men they have met at dance classes and whatnot. But to be honest Minsk is white dominated and many young women there prefer to be seen about with a caucasian man, I think, but mainly because of social attitudes. Belarussian women are far more conservative then their Ukrainian sisters. There are interracial couples in Minsk but they are few and far between.
As for safety, I think the city center of Minsk is very safe. Certainly far safer than Kiev. I have witnessed two drunken, large Ukrainian brutes punching the hell out of one another on a sunday afternoon in Kiev. Such a spectacle seems improbable in Minsk. In two months in Minsk I have never encountered a single problem in the city center nor was I ever stopped by the police. I think that is considerable as my Belarussian friends have often remarked how I appear a foreigner. Simply put: Minsk is clean, dowdy and predictable.

I've been to Ukraine before, never had any problems regarding safety or racism. Apart from Shooters club which has strict face control.
I'm just a little confused because alot of Belarussian women have been contacting me. I'm not Turkish but usually get mistaken for one.
Just wondering if it has something to do with the economic crisis in Belarus and girls are getting more desperate to leave.

I don't want to push my opinions on anyone.
I'm Italian. In twenty years of meeting Eastern Europeans, it was never held against me. I always thought of it as an edge.
Climax,
I believe you. No question. My opinion on this subject comes chiefly through many conversations I have had with Belarussians. I know whether privately or in public the majority of Belarussians women would not be caught dead with a Turkish guy. As for Italians it is much different. I think many girls have no problem meeting an Italian in private; meaning come and visit him at his hotel or apartment for sex. Some would even be seen in public with an Italian man and I have seen Italian men with a pretty Belarussian woman, though it is not common. However, Belarussian women are conservative and Italian men have a reputation as sex tourists in Minsk. A woman being seen in public with an Italian man has to be prepared for some scrutiny. Some can deal with it and some cannot. Belarussian women do like foreign men however they also must be able to present them to their friends. In this sense I am refering to sponsorship. Again, this is the impression I get from many conversations and from what I have seen on the streets, clubs and cafes in Minsk. Its possible I am mistaken but I doubt it.

Problem is rather the lower middle-class italians who are obvious sex-tourists not even subtle about it and have a very very clumsy game. Admittedly they are in hords wherever the pussy is. In the countries (as in Moldova) where those guys are in high numbers,"italiano" is a running joke among the girls.
Totally agree with you about the fact that in many places in FSU, many girls (and especially those evolving in the highest stratums of the society) don't want to be seen holding hands or making out with a turk, as it might be a loss of status for her.

About turks and italians

Some turks have great reputation as sex giants, but a lot of them have sex turist reputation and dump the girls quickly after sex. I knew one turkish gye that have been banging a new model quality freebies for years, he had outstanding game, and looks too, but he spoiled very much dark men (esprcially turk) reputation, as a lot of city girl new this turkish donjuan who throghs girls after banging them, and he wasnt only one. In the beggining of this millenium turks had great reputation because of their looks and game, but now its another story. Even came to situation when girl asked me if I'm turk, when I tald I'm latin (portugal) she tald me she wouldn't talk to me if I was turk, because of their ugly bahaviour. As for italians the spoiled their reputation too, but not as badly as turks, they behave softer to girls, in more classy way, so now it is easier to catch pussy in eastern europe if you are italian or portugeese than turk. By the way most famouse ukrainian artist anni lorak is married to turk and make ukrainian men (and not only them) veru jelous. You are wright canadian boy, bellorussian girls are more conservative than ukrainian ad even Russian, they remind me balic and Polish chicks who are fucking foreigners at their houses, but afraid to show in public because of public opinion.
I'm Italian. In twenty years of meeting Eastern Europeans, it was never held against me. I always thought of it as an edge.
There is an ecellent Report Of Distinction by Waryman in the Ukraine thread about, Who can score the most with Freebie UA girls. It gives the edge as you put it, to Italians from the North, and Spanish Guys, who look more Middle Class.
From my experience in the rest of the EE countries, yes being Italian does give an edge for girls to have a fling, but not to meet and greet their parents.
Italian guys are not looked upon as serious enough for a LTR, or tying the Knot.
But you don't want to do that, do you.
