I find it almost impossible to provide cogent answers to cost of living questions. As DS can verify, the cost of living here varies enormously, and depends on the life style you want and the amount of disposable income available to you. I know guys who get by reasonably well on slightly more than $1,000 a month and others who spend more than $5,000, and everything in between. Cost is also driven in part by where you want to live: urban or rural, gated community or no.

I can almost envy DS great stories about class, reds, women and champagne. But in the end I'm a Skip (meant in a positive sense, Skip). Barba, I think all of us who bounce around the planet took our share of risks, and edged up to the brink of craziness when we were young. Now, at probably almost twice your age, I'm more risk averse, and will go to great lengths to assure my comfort and my safety. Also, I'm not sure that I agree with your assumption that initial behavior is any reliable predictor of longer-term motivation.
