Forget bus maps.
Ask somebody.
If the big sign on the bus says Praça da Sé it means that its final destination is Praça da Sé.
You can also check the sign on the front of the bus, (down at the window) which usually list all major destinations, or the smaller sign on the side of the bus.
Anyway, asking is the easiest way.

If you are in darker women - Salvador is the rigth place for you. If you want "loiras" - better go to Rio.

Salvador is cheaper than Rio but it has not such a big mongering scene and also not such a big diversity.

Also the mongering places are not so concentrated - they are spread over the whole city and you really mus know where and when to go. For example Santissima Bahia - only Monday nights there are GDPs - during the week it is a normal bar/restaurant.

I'll second that.

Although I broke the law during my first trip to Fortaleza when I met a blond 1,73m tall 18y and 20 days old from Petrolina/Pernabuco.
She was on one week vacations, met her on her first day, and could not resist keeping her until I took her to the bus station going back home where she had commitments with her normal job. She was so unspoiled.
Good old days!!!

I have been to Rio before enjoyed the quality of selection in the termas at Solarium and L'uomo. But if it is late at night and Solarium has a stag party or something, I will go to Centaurus since I find that the mall where L'uomo is located to be too deserted at night. Help is ok once. But if you are looking for a higher standard, it is tough because the majority of girls are just kind of average looking, imo.

I don't have any new info to post on termas, agencies, etc.. But I wanted to know if anybody has used or knows of anybody who handles setting you up with a girl for a few days. Would like to get a more non-pro type who is more of a GF than a GP. Would be interested in doing this in Rio and Salvador because in Rio, I like going to Lapa, etc. With someone. I speak decent Portuguese, and fluent Spanish.

Don't mind paying extra for quality and would like to set it up prior to getting down there. Will be in Salvador for a couple of days in December and am planning on going to Morro which I heard can be quiet during December, so, ideally, would like to take a girl from Salvador with me.

And if you don't have info on this, could anybody recommend a higher end clinica de massagem in Salvador? Am looking for something similar to what I had in SP where you enter and get to choose from a computer screen the girl you want and you have maybe 15-20 girls to choose from.

I prefer right now Bahia-Flat cause, what i read here, its nice in daytime (beach), isn't it? But i'm not sure, that Barra is in the evening/night absolutely boring.

How much cost a bus-trip from Barra to Rio Vermehlo? And is it safe in the night?

I stayed last time approx. 5 years ago in Bahia Flat. The flats are ok, small bed-room, bath, kitchenett and living-room. Clean and girl-friendly.

I do not know what a bus-ticket cost. Around barra are a lot of restaurants and bars but you have to be mobile in Salvador. Salvador is big and you easily drive for 20 km. You easily spend 20. 30 reais for on way in a cab. Also you do not find a cab at all times at all places. Anyhow. Late at night I would not wait fo a bus at a bus-stop.

I usually rent a car. It is around 50. 60 reais/day. Only be careful. Slavador is full of cameras and radars. They deduct the fines from your credit card! And be careful with the car- agencies. They go over the car with a fine comb and try to charge you for the smalles scratch. Which was already paid by three other guys which rented the car before you.

With a GPS you find any place in Salvador! That is the best advise I can give you. It is then also easier to pick up SW.

I have never been to Rio Vermelho but I read on this forum it is pretty nice and close to the clubs. So I will be staying there at the Ibis Hotel. The price is reasonable. I will be there from Nov 24 to Dec 2. You can PM me if you will be there at that time and want to have a drink or do some clubbing together.

Bahia Flat seems like a good choice. I've only seen one room and it was quite small. The beach is just otside the door. You also have the Barra Shopping, restaurants, cafés, banks etc very close by.

The action at night-time in Barra depends on the season. Anyway, the night-life is quite spread out so you'll have to take a bus/taxi no matter where you stay.

I know some members thinks Barra is very boring at night. Might be, but I like Barra. It's nice at night for having dinner with a date, drinking beer and maybe pick up a SW.

Bus fares depends on the buses. Let say >R$ 2. AC-bus (Aeroporto) >R$ 5.

When I was there last time there were no safes in the appartments, you have to store your valuables in the reception-area - there safes are available.

I rarely repeat my travels but going back to Salvador and staying at the Bahia Flat was an easy choice. I have completely enjoyed both times I stayed there.

There are a few things worth knowing. Each room there are privately owned so make sure you look at several rooms before making a choice. Some were very basic but I found a nice one. They all have kitchens. Also, there are a lot of long term residents here so it feels more like an apartment building. Many of the residents like to leave thier doors open to see who is coming and going but I've only met super friendly people here.

The services are minimal, maid service is too. I don't think they have cable and their Internet service is so-so. However, it is completely girl (s)-friendly. They leave their id at the front desk, if I recall. One time the front desk person bounced a girl I brought back for not having an id. This gdp stalked me the rest of the time there and I was actually happy they didn't let her up. They recognize a lot of the girls and I believe they actually had my back in my drunken state. The BH doesn't have safes from what I remember. I recall stuffing my valuables in my large suitcase and locking it. Then I would always lock the gdp in my room and hide the key. As long as I can monitor her leaving (w/o my big ass suitcase) then I was OK.

While the hotel is on a beach, the main beach is about a 10 minute walk. I went to Rio Velehmo one night on my trip but it was a quiet night there. I personally wouldn't rent a car. IMHO, you are asking for so many problems. I drive like a taxi driver and I still wouldn't want to drive in the city center. In fact, Pelhourinho is almost entirely blocked off for car traffic and I sure wouldn't want to park it even a block outside of there since the area is so sketchy.

There is plenty of night life around the BH and it is not dangerous as the city center. I felt much more safe stumbling around there! I saw some great live Brazilian rock, went to a high-end disco and ate at some very good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel. There is a Citibank ATM a block away. Always, and I mean always, be super careful when using an ATM in Brazil. Make sure no one is watching you and that there are no scanning devices on the ATM.
