Radisson Thursday evening
9th floor: A lot of people but the WG group had disappeared. Obviously rules have changed.
Qube: A lot of people as it was weekend. Both WG and other ladies. Qube is still a Filipino meeting place.
Other places? I'm sure there are a few WG at Krossroads however have not been there for a while. One Qube PRC I spoke with about places for a WG said "only Qube". Probably not 100% correct. I had a comment re W below. Anyone knows about other places?
Breaking News 2 / Crackdown?
Out for a few beer this evening. Mostly for testing my worries from yesterday. Just came back from Radisson.
9th floor: Quite empty as expected. No weekend and some ladies banned one week back.
Qube: Less than 50 people at 10 pm. Less than 10 ladies. Probably 90% Fili. Rest African? ZERO WG.
I asked the person scanning member cards at Qube and his response ladies probably gone other places. BS. They have been asked to give a diplomatic explanation. Seems the decision is not from the hotel but from somewhere else. It means that the situation is the same other places as well. I tried to ask one person how long; however got no answer and of course he did not know.
Seems there is a government crackdown. Any other have some comments or got some info?
I have noticed earlier comments about dry country. What now? Getting even drier than before?
Orion Bar. From the sublime to the ridiculous
I've been working in Oman for the past 4 months so wasn't aware of the crack down on PRC in Doha. I recently stayed at the Rad Blu in Doha and was initially surprised by the lack of ladies in the Orion Bar. As other commentators have said the staff at Rad Blu only give diplomatic responses when queried about such problems! I've been in the Middle East for many years so nothing really surprises me but the Orion Bar has really taken the biscuit. They're not letting in the PRC ladies but are happy for the place to be populated by 'feminine fellows' if you get my drift! I had one beer and left very swiftly.
